And I want that army to be the sexy Sisters of Battle. But, I really don't know much about how I should build my army. This sunday I'm planning on dropping by my Games Workshop and picking up a Space Marine and Witch Hunter Codex so I can start reading up and planning my army. In the meantime can I get some feedback on Witch Hunter players and those who have fought against the WH on the battlefield? They are so expensive I really don't want to make a mistake on a purchase. So some advice about them would be nice.

I started with guardsman.. and wanted to blow up my army cuz it was too hard of an army to start off with.
Go with marines. Maybe a specific chapter? The new codex is coming out soon, to confuse the heck outta everyone. Still, Marines are the best to start out with IMO. Get a marine battleforce and a hero for a commander and go from there

I was thinking of getting a Marine Tactical Squad, a Sisters Battle Squad and a Witch Hunter Inquisitor to start and play with my friends.

Witch hunters aren't a good starting army cus they are very hard to use, being toughness 3 with these silly vows and whatever they have.

As somebody else said they are also hard to paint.

I would advise chaos at the moment cus they are like marines just with better close combat abilities. Most marine players tend to like word bearers and their daemons, so they might be a good starting army.

Unless you are one of those idiotic "burn the heretic" players, whos got some sort of screw loose in their brain. Lets hope not!

Cheers

I started with orks and didnt find it that hard to learn, go with what you think is cool and dont listen to the evil marine players and their ''look at me, i suck, i have the same army as 75% of the other boring marine players out there''.

I agree with Thalasion. Pick whatever army you like the look of best. Don't let anyone else tell you what army to collect.

Sure, you might lose a bit to begin with, but you can still have fun. Winning isn't everything.

Whatever you do, consider something other than marines. Everyone and their cat has some amount of marines. Don't worry about an army being "hard" to play. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Think of it as a challenge.

I am one of those idiotic players thankyou very much but i can see where you are coming from as heretics use psychic powers and so do the witchunters themselves

Thats why i transfered to Dark Angels you can't beat the after smell of heavy bolter and plasma cannon fire 100% woof

I'm a SM player but I think you should pick whatever feels right for you. Figure out your style (CC or Long Range slugging) and pick something that fits. Pick up the new edition rulebook, lots of info on the races. I'm thinking of 'nids for CC (especially with the new assault rules).

I am a dedicated Witch Hunters player. Witch Hunters kick ass and I just recently won a Rogue Trader Tourney with mine. The Callidus Assassin is probably the best assassin to get (if you want one). With your regular troop Sisters, ditch the storm bolters for meltaguns and flamers. The box set doesn't give you meltas so you would need a blister of them (if you want to). My inquisitor squad kicked the ass out a hive tyrant and her warriors, took coulple turns but with all the acolytes with mancatchers and chirgeons they couldn't even deal a wound.
The seraphim are worth every penny and if you buy 2 boxes use the 1 superior from the second box to convert to a canoness, dont get the weaker 1, not worth it. Then give her a cloak of st.aspira and she has a 2+ save and with a faith point, can automatically give her a 2+ invunerable save.
On all your squads of sisters get superiors! the Faith points they give can be the winning factor. Don't forget to use them all by the end of the game cause you don't get extra stuff for extra points.
Dont buy mainly witch hunters and think you can have a marine ally, cause its not allowed. Bastards. No death company with my sisters. :weep: . Anywho, don't get a penitent engine unless you at least get 3 (which is expensive), cause one will get shot up too quickly and not do anything. St.Celestine is definately worth it if you don't take a canoness.
A retributor squad with heavy bolters eats tyranids and eldar for breakfast cause their bad saves and toughness. A dominion squad with heavy flamers stuck in a immolator with heavy flamers eats tyranids and almost anything else once they unload. You'll at least kill 5 marines and bout 25 termagaunts.
If you want to know about anything else let me know.

What about Dark Eldar??? I started with them, cept I lost allot. But now i totally desecrate, I won the last two rouge traders i attended. My main tatic is underestimation, to many people think my army is a push over so they just leave to many vulnerable spots and i destroy.

by the end of the game i'm doing this :nana:
