Ahriman is to be avoided. I could go into detail if you'd like, but any other HQ option is preferable to him.

Ahriman costs a rediculous amounts of points (214 or so if my memory serves me). He has no power weapon. He occupies your lord slot. He is comparitively fragile. His psychic powers are not more powerful than your basic lord's, and ahriman gets a second psychic power only on a 4+ (while thrall wizards on your lord will allow you a 100% chance at a 2nd power).

A lord w/ Mark of Tzeentch, 2x Lightning Claws, Terminator Armour, Demonic Mutation, 4x Thrall Wizards, Gift of Chaos (or) Wind of Chaos, Demonic Aura, and Demonic Strength works out to 205 points. That's a hideously expensive lord, and he's still less than ahriman.

You could buy Ahriman and use him as a Lord which some people do.

If you are seriously gonna use Ahriman not as a Lord i wouldn't bother buying him if i was you. I just don't like the special characters.

1. It's much more fun seeing what you can make out of a propper lord.
2. Lords can be better than special characters.
3. Hardly any people agree with to use special characters.

Yeah ALL of the greater daemons are good i believe the Lord of change has wings and evil psychic powers. Personally i prefer the keeper of secrets and the bloodthirster that's just me though!

When you do get the dex Bloodthirster be sure to post up an army list and we should be able to help you with it.

Cheers

In all my years playing Warhammer, i've yet to use or get permission to use a special character. This post is spot on the money. If you insist on using Chaos, i'd go with Iron Warriors or Black Legion, as the versatility of these two armies makes for a great collection/gaming experience. The mark of Chaos undivided is the only way to go in my opinion, as it offers soooooo much in the way of choices.

I'd let my opponent use Ahriman, but not because I'm nice. :D

Well, Word Bearers are nice. You could go for a classic and have a Daemon Prince, Possesed Marines, and alot of Daemons! May or may not work though (on the same thought it may also scare the #$%^ out of whoever you're playing! :D ).

TS_ahriman

Word Bearers are strictly undivided, but can take all manner of demons.

I don't know why you associate Thousand Sons with a lack of demons either. Along with the vanilla demons (possessed, greater demons) they also have flamers and screamers....

Word Bearers may only have the Mark of Undivided, but they may include any types of Daemons. Specific factions (ie Khorne, Slaanesh, etc) may only choose daemons from their own faction. You can have a default army and I think the Daemons would count as normal (if the Lord has MoU).
