I have done some remodelling of my army list and have come up with following. This was done after it was pointed out to me that I had been misinterpreting the codex and who could have what wargear (i.e. I had regular troopies with bionics and purity seals). Bear in mind this is everything I own and I won't be expanding or modifying anything since I am currently unemployed.

Standard land raider (264 pts)
Pintle Storm Bolter, smoke launchers, search light

5 man Scouts (85 pts)
Sgt with close combat, bolt pistol
Scouts (x4) with sniper rifles

6 man Devastator squad (187 pts)
Vet Sgt with Bolter, Bionics, Purity seal, Auspex
Missile Launchers (x2)
P-Cannon (x1)
Bolter (x2)

5 man Assault squad (194 pts)
Vet Sgt with Thunder Hammer, Bionics, Bolt Pistol,Frags, Purity seal, Melta Bombs, Jump Pack
Assault marines (x4) with jump packs, Cc weapon, bolt pistols, frags

5 man Assault Terminators (215 pts)
Sgt with power sword and storm bolter, purity seal
Terminators (x4) with double lightning claws

10 man Tactical Squad (218 pts)
Vet Sgt with Power Sword, Plasma Pistol, Frags, Auspex, Purity seal
Marines (x8) with bolters, frags
Marine with flamer and frags

Rhino (63 pts)
Pintle storm bolter, smoke launchers

Librarian (102 pts)
Force axe, Bolt pistol, Frags

Captain (87)
Terminator Honours, Power Fist, Bolt Pistol, Frags

Total 1419 pts

These squads are kind of hard and fast since they are built (only need to be painted). Some were no choice (i.e. the captain with the power fist is the "classic" from several years ago)while others were just for fun (i.e. the assault sgt with a thunder hammer). :)

I know what people thought of the old list. What do you think now?

Aye, thats a lot better then the last one, i'd tweak a couple of things but nothing major. Theres only two things which really stick out. One is you could really do with nabbing a jumppack off someone and whacking it on your librarian so he can accompany the assault squad. Just see if anyone you know has one they are willing to give you.

Alternatively, some GW stores haves spare bits and bobs like JPs they sell or simply give away if its something really pitiful, no idea if you live near one though or what they are like in Canada.

Secondly, the rhino can only carry 10 men so your captain won't be able to accompany the tac' squad in it.

Give your commander an iron halo and the librarian a jump pack and terminator honours and you'll have a tidy 1500 pt army there.

Imperial Tiger, it looks ok mainly, but i feel that you might need to use you points a bit more efficiently however. Please remember that i'm not bagging you, just showing you some ways on how to spend your points more efficiently.

*Why give your Veteran Sergeants Bionics? Thats 20pts (in total) for something that wont help you much. Chances are, you wont roll that 6, and the Vet.Serg. is generally the last guy alive, unless attacks in CC are directed against him, but alone and unaided he isnt worth much.

*Pintle mounted storm bolter on a Land Raider? Surely theres enough guns on it without adding a fourth, especially if you face Marines alot, only really worth getting if those 2 shots will count. Theres another 10pts by the way.

*Do you predict that Force Weapon to be helpful? Who are you playing against?

You're thinking, "30pts? Thats all?", 30pts means 2 more Marines, or perhaps giving one of chracters double Lightning Claws. I'm not saying these are definately the wrong things to do, but they generally dont help turn the battle in your favour, and it also depends on your opponent's army.

Basically, your basic army (the units as a whole, not including wargear and upgrades) should be reasonably flexible, while the wargear should be generally suited to take on a specific opponent. This is usually what i do, and i've made so many "practice army lists" to find the best combinations that i've lost count. Try experimenting a bit, see what you like and whats effective. I'm looking forward to the next time you re-work it or expand it.

Good luck!

How do you model the iron halo?

I've got jump packs to spare but the Librarian's regular pack is on with superglue and I don't want to f*&% up the model.

Don't worry about modelling the iron halo, most people don't. You'd ahve to look through some model catalogues to find a model with one really.

Re: the back pack, dont worry, it'll come off easy enough. Any paint which comes off will be covered when you put the jump pack on.
