Heres a model of a stormblade super heavy i did today. I realise it may not be very practical to make a mod with super heavies in it, but hey, dont you wanna play with one! I thinking of using in a mod, maybe only having each side being able to have one, or something, along with more characters and units - i dunno... either way, the models pretty much done:

It has 2600 faces at present, this could be reduced to under 2000 if the track wheels were taken out and replaced with a just a texture, but i personally think for sucha big model its not a bad face count. And alternatively the wheels could be taken out and mode detail added to the hull. Feel free to post suggestions - even though i probably wont listen, lol.

O, and btw, i know that the sponson weapons aren't there, thats just cause i'll wait to use the ingame ones, so the look the same.

Hey, if the Orks get the Squig. Why can't the IG get a Superheavy? I would rather it be the Baneblade but the Stormblade might be better game play wise. Great model though.

I was actually thinking of using it for the space marines - cause i dont think the have any superheavies. But i don't really know, i haven't played 40k in about 5 years, so i dont really know the rules - but i always thought space marines could use the imperial gaurd amour...

wicked man keep it up.

The Space Marines dont have any super heavy tanks themselves, but they can field enough armour cracking weps IMO.

It would be good for IG who dont have a squig/bloodthirster/avatar etc...

How'd you do the treads?

I think its good that the space marines got Land Raider and Terminators as super-units and not a monster as they are a strike force of sorts, but IG are called the Hammer of the Emperor. Hammer= big, slow and hurts alot. Baneblade/Stormblade= big, slow and hurts alot. Are you getting the pic? :D the model is über btw. :thumb:

Hey that's pretty accurate to the model. Nice job. I may just have to recruit you into the actualy IG mod team.

I reckon you'd need to keep the wheels, but you could save a ton by making the tracks a plane rather than a box. This is how all the current tanks in-game are done. With al ittle more detail and a nice texture, that'd be awesome.

How'd you do the treads?

I did the treads by creating a box, then extruding one side of it out over and over, and the using the "bend" modifier to bend the track round and into its shape.

marines do have a super heavy tank btw. I cant remember what its called but its in epic, it looks like a box with a massive gun on the front.

That is a Leviathan you're thinking of and it's an Imperial Guard command vehicle. It may have once been allowed in Epic Marine armies, but it's not a marine vehicle.

I don't think 2600 triangles is excessive, since many infantry units are around 2000 triangles and are much smaller.
