I've seen them mentioned before, and I get the inkling that they and the Eldar had a war with the c'tan, but I don't get much else.
I can't find anything out there on them. Anyone got some fluff they can pass along for a relative newb?

there a bit about them in the necron codex. as far as i know, they were like the original gods/uber-powerful creatures from a very long time ago. they were around before the ctan (i think) and went around creating races. then when the ctan came along and turned the necorty (sp?) into the necrons and started killin everyone, the old ones were a bit hacked off by this and started making races to kill the ctan, so they had a rather large war which made the horus heresy look like car crash. then im not sure if the old ones were killed by the ctan or just ran away but they left, and then the ctan went into statis to escape some plague (anyone go anymore info on this?) and thats as much as i know.
also there are the old ones in warhammer, lizardmen gods, not sure if they are the same ones tho.

The Old Ones were frog-looking guys that created the Eldar, Orks, and Humans (they might have done more, but i only know about those 3). After the fight with the Necrontyr, they left to achieve the pinnacle of evolution.
I think that the plague which the C'Tan were escaping from was the Outsider.

the old ones also created the Necrontyr [which became the necrons]. the reason they created all these races was because they were trying to creat the ultimat race. They sarted w/ orks, but they wer too viotent and war like. Then they did the eldar, lived too long and didn't breed fast enough. Then the Necrontyr, sorta like humans but with about a 30 year life. then humans. k?

Actually, the Old Ones created all the other races to help them in their fight with the Necronty/C'Tan.

well i thought the old ones went around creating tons of races. but when the war kicked off they started making more just for fighting the necrons.
also this plague from the outsider what was it? was it like a race of nasty people, or an actual plauge?

The Old Ones created many races including Slann, Orks, Eldar and Necrontyr. The necrontyr were deliberatedly created on a planet that for some reason (i think because it orbited a star with a massive gravitational pull) gave them a very short lifespan, but this in turn made them advance extremely quickly. However when the old ones revealed themselves to the Necrontyr they were despised, the Necrontyr hated the old ones for being immortal when they died after just a few years. So when the big war with the Ctan and the Old Ones broke out, the Necrontyr sided with the Ctan, who gave turned them into immortal necrons in return for their devotion.
I *think* the Orks were the last race created by the Old Ones, in an attempt to make an unstoppable, fast-breeding army born with an inherent knowledge of love and war. I guess the slow-breeding Eldar just weren't cutting it. Ultimately the Old Ones were defeated and died out/left the galaxy. The Ctan carried on butchering each other until there were only 4 left, who went into hibernation.
Unfortunately there is little information about the Old Ones themselves, just the consequences of their actions.

The biggest store of fluff I've seen for the Old Ones is in the Necron Codex. It tells all about the war between the Necrontyr/C'tan vs. the Old One/young races. The Old Ones, I believe, started out trying to create the perfect race. When the war began they started to create warrior races (ie Orks). That's how I understood it anyway.

The 'plague' that is referred to is the Outsider himself....he had a craving for deep-fried C'Tan.

First came the C'tan, then the Old Ones, and then the Necrontyr. I don't believe the Old ones created the Necrontyr, but they did create or at least push some races evolution in a particular direction.

Alot of this info is incorrect. Necrontyr were at war with the old ones out of jealousy of their insanely long lives. They were losing this war until they learned how to wake the C'tan up. The C'tan then went and pretty much demolished the universe and made the necrontyr get transferred to metal bodies with no free will, personality, soul, etc while they fed on their physical bodies. This turned them into necrons and the C'tan slaughtered the old ones until the plague was unleashed. The plague consisted of demons which were wiping out what little was left... causing the C'tan to go dormant on dead planets where demons couldnt possess anything. Theres a lot more to it and I gave a very simple version of it and left much out but its all very clear in the necron codex.

I know the C'tan promised the Necrontyr 'imortality and power' and they agreed, not realizing that they would be turned to robotic slaves.
