I started playing this game when it was called Rogue trader. I now have over 8000 points in Space wolves, 4000 in Black Legion, 7000 in my pride and joy army, Blood Angels. I also play Fantasy too. After playing the Demo for Dawn, i realised how good we gamers have it. Warhammer really is a game that demands the best out of us. The last golden Demon competition i went to was in Chicago, and i must say that this game just keeps getting better and better. My only complaint about the game, Dawn of War so far, is the inability to add the force commander to the Assault marines, and the generic use of the marines, as in they all are the same. No individuality among them (No Blood Claws for the Space Wolves, Death Company for the Blood Angels, etc.) I hope to see you all online when the game comes out, as i will be looking forward to owning some of you and getting owned right back. Just some thoughts. Laters!!!

Well, they can't put too much variability into the Marines right off the bat, so they made them Codex standard (even though they manage to bend the Codex rules slightly), but you have variability still as you aren't restricted by the rules for tactical and Devastator squads anymore and can mix and match.

Nice Army sizes. Expensive too. I should know, i've got a 4300pt Dark Elves army, as well as the rest i'm collecting in 40k. As for your complaint of the Force Commander not being able to join Assault Marines, its because making him THAT agile and maneuverable would make it WAY too unfair, being able to smash troops to the ground in no time, and due to the "smaller-than-right" maps. They should hopefully add variations in each race's squads in an mods/Expansions that are released.
On a final note, i tend to do nothing other than study Warhammer and Karate. Call it sad if you want, but thats what die-hard fans do!

Nice armies, very nice and expensive ;) The great thing about Dawn of War is you dont have to paint anything, remember any rules, or spend hours trying to figure out how to get that terrain just right, you can just jump in and play. I seriously hope DoW brings in tons of future TT players, because as good as DoW is the table top is something noone appreciates until they play their first game :)

If he started with Rogue Trader, his armies weren't nearly as expensive as youi think they were, lol. I have more or less that kind of points values in figures, heh.

Well I know we all wish these kinds of units were in the game, but honestly it would have taken the game much longer to come out had they put every unit that was in the TT game. The only way we will see more units and armies is if Dawn of War becomes very popular. This is result in Relic making expansion packs to and on more armies.
This is the chief reason I want Dawn of War to succeed....I want them to expand it more and more.

Exactly!! When i started collecting, the minatures were not that expensive. Now, they cost quite a bit and drain a wallet easily. My collection is alot of new and old models, with heavy converting work done to boot. My earlier statements about the game not being more flexible in being able to add specialist troops to your armies (Blood Claws, Death Company, etc.) is more of a lament than a complaint. I would love to use the Death Company in the new Relic game, as using them in the tabletop game has won me alot of hard fought battles and pulled my bacon out of the fire more than once. I do, however, understand the need to keep it sort of simple to keep the game balance going. Oh well, we can all always hope for more in the future, as i'm sure Relic will indeed make more games in this series.

Hello to you from Carbondale, Illinois, SIU University. Nice to see a fellow Illinoisan.

*Nods*. The prices these days are bad (5 Dark Riders = $80 Aus), but thats another matter... Just wondering though, what exactly is the main topic of this thread? It seems to be a TT crossed with DOW thread. So which is it? Theres already many threads in the DOW Forums about these kinds of issues.

Heh yeah, the price of minatures is the biggest turn off for me. I played Blood Bowl a bit as a kid (used other people's minatures) then got into Necromunda a fair bit with a Van Saar gang and later Spyrer. Didn't play by the "if the minature isn't represented you can't use the weapon" rules. I liked seeing my teams grow and change by their 'levelling' up. The loss at losing some of my long-standing members... oh the pain! =)
Played one game of Warhammer at around 16 but was horrified at the price, no way could I shell out the money to make a army competitive with my friend's armies. Long time has past since then (24 now) but instead of having surplus cash I've got lots of expenses ;)
Ah well someday a Space Wolf, Legion of the Damned or perhaps Fire Hawks (?.. the guys with nuke badges) will come around.

But the Legion of the Damned is the Fire Hawks.
