First off - great forums! It is encouraging to see so many talented and helpful people active here!

I have worked on a number of models/mods in the past for other games, but I am new to the DOW mod scene.

(btw, I made the TDR addon for Dark Reign 2 - http://www.icandidesign.com/dr2/ )

I presume most real work will begin after public-release, however, has anyone out there successfully had a crack at adding a original, skinned model into the game as yet?
Can you post your journey so far?

I am also looking to 'hook up' with some others in working on some new Eldar units, NATO's proposed mod list sounds appealing.

Regards,
'Looking forward to getting hands dirty'

First thing to do is get Spooky's SGA extractor (in the sticky at the top of the forum) You can then extract data files and start messing with them.

We know where the models, textures, and animations are: WH40K\Data\art\(various subdirectories) but their file formats are mysterious: RAT, WHE, WHM, CON, and so forth. Thus no progress has been made on changing them.

However, everything in the WH40K\Data\attrib\ directory (and quite a bit of some other directories) is plain text. Grab a text editor and look around. It's very object-oriented.
