I find myself using Marines exclusively till I hit asap tier 2 for Defilers, wich engage enemy heavy weapons squads in melee while my chaos space marine squads use heavy bolters / plasmas to devastate enemy.
I don't know, I've tried demons but Marines with upgrades seem more effective than them. If you spend the cash with marines heavy weapon increase and both life and damage ones... I'd rather stick at them and upgrade them against what I'm fighting instead of building demons.

Try attaching your Chaos Lord to a squad of Possessed marines you'll change your mind ;) Although it depends on your tactics if you prefer to raid then your better off buffing up your marines and crippling them early but if its going to be a long game then I'd get PCSM asap, tier 1 they can hold their own but upgraded in tier 2 and they'll tear all comers to shreds (well not all comers :) but they do damage)

Possessed, properly upgraded .. are a scary scary thing to face. Your best hope is to break them, and even then you'd better be running.
That, or if you're eldar .. entangle works wonders.

Agree. Damn, it's godly when you only have 2-3 squads at the start. Well, it is in the long run for stopping melee squads to engage Dark Reapers.
Hey, ¿wich upgrades do you usually research?

Personally I normally go for health then accuracy but it depends on who and how you fight the beauty of this game is the flexibility of your forces.Try different build orders and see which suits your style best, 9 times out of ten I just get health and try to tech up to tier 2 for the PCSM upgrades after I've done their speed and/or CC attack I go for accuracy then extra weapons to back them up or if I feel sneaky :) I go for health, tech up to get Infiltration and tool up my squads while I sneak them up to the enemy base, coupled with a small feint involving a Chaos Lord and one or two cultist squads this can be devastating! On a side note more than once people will make the "your a noob" mistake and start berating you for your useless Cultist army while you position your marines in heart of their base :D don't rise to it they'll probably drop before you finish them ;)

Hmm I find, that Horrors deal massive moral damage. I've broken seer councils with them before.

I hardly ever use horrors. PSM always seem like the better choice.

Horrors are absolute crap - if you have an eldar ally with council already out, then sure. They're a cheap deepstriking ranged unit. Wow.

Horror's are not so bad as you guys think. Horror's + Chaos Lord early game and anything you face will break in a matter of seconds. Ive killed a Forcecommander in a matter of seconds with that combo. I just watched his morale break in less than a second, and then he died in the next 4 seconds. The marine squad that was backing him up soon followed. Just don't get them in melee, use your CL and perhaps some cultists as meatshields. 3-4 fireballs=dead marine, the also have enough life to outlast scouts and marine squads. Plus they warp wherever you want them(Rush anyone?) I've owned several space marine rushers with horror's. They have their uses, just as all the other chaos marine units(minus sorcerer, hes boush-ghetto). Just don't use them late game, you get them at tier 1 for a reason.

You have to remember that Chaos's main attack is to attack morale.
So breaking squads is a must. Horrors destroy moral very quickly. Plus if you use z to force them into hand to hand they are very good there too.

I also use Chaos Marines a lot. I like to try and get 100+ marines....it looks really cool

I usually end up with 3 CSM(plasma/Missile/Heavy Bolter), 2 Cultist squads (grenade launchers), and 2 PCSM with a CL and a CS (Doom Bolt Rocks!)
For upgrades I usually get accuracy first becasue if you can shoot better you don't need more health :)
Then I try to get Heavy weapons then tier 2 and Demonic Fire for my PCSM squads (with my hero characters attached of course)
I rarely have to go with vehicles anymore with that combo
But when I do I get 1 Defiler and the rest Preds as I save for Tier 3 upgrades

Marines are the backbone of any army, people like blacksand swear by PSM but they are but the head of a spear. If the head brakes there is nothing left to attack your enemy with. Before everyone starts going jsut for PSM remember that marines properly outfitted can roll over almost any foe except mass kans and dreads ^_^

Chaos Marines with a human wall of Cultist. Also you can have the Chaos Sorcerer join a squad of Oblits for a deepstrike.

Could somebody please list the upgrades available for CMs? I've never consciously seen them with Plasma or HBs...

They have aspiring champion, flamer, heavy bolter, missle launcher, plasma gun, bionics, frag grenades, a accuracy upgrade, upgrade to get more special weapons, infiltration, the champion can get plasma pistol and a power sword or power fist. I dont know if there is anymore but if there is let me know.

I've been CSM-rushed so often, I rarely saw them teched up. Also, their HBs are lacking the huge backpack :) And their plasma is Red. Duh.
What's Furious Charge? And what's that blue aura with the tiny arrows pointing outwards they sometimes have?

They get furious charge and frenzy and infiltration, great joy to the chaos marines.
And I do swear by PSM, but they're almost always backed up by marines.

I pretty much use them as my artillery pieces. 2x4 and when you have tier 2 i give them 4 missile launchers.
I mean, chaos really lack anti dread weapons before tier 3 preds with lascannons.
Iv put my chaos lord with a cultist squad backed up with 2 csm squad for fire support early on with some success, he does seem to last longer and they are cheap and fast to replace.
Horrors are a kinda utility unit that you can use where you need it, not figured out if they or the raptors would be best for that though.
