Heh. Trying to keep a good attitude about this, as the title implies.
Installed fine. Have updated drivers and system specs are all in the "recommended" category. However, when I click on "Play Game" from the startup window, nothing happens. When I try to run the autorun.exe file, it states that there has been a failure to execute some file, and that I don't have permission to access the file.
Um, help......

Try to use the game's shortcut to play? Or the wh40k.exe file in the \Dawn of War\ directory?

Tried those. Gave me the same "access denied" crud. Guess it's time to head back to the store.....

Hmmm no... access denied... you installed as Admin? Can you post the warnings.log file?

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
That what I get for just about every file I try to open.

Ok, big question then. Since this is installed on my home PC, how would I access my admin account?
Double Post
Actually, never mind. Just did some snooping on my account manager. Since this is my personal PC, my account IS the admin account. And it's still giving me the same grief.

Are you for real?
If you have XP, check your help file if you don't know what an administrative account means.

It sounds to me like your windows is F***** up so i would try to reinstall windows XP with SP2 and newest drivers for everything..
Sorry for your problems..

Windows shouldn't be messed up. Every other file/download/program/game I've installed has never done this to me. I keep it running fairly smoothly.
And I wouldn't touch SP2 with a big pole. Not since it ate my lab system's drivers, which wiped my research data clean. Had to install a brand new hard drive over that one.

Sounds like the underlying install was corrupt on your lab's system.
Anyway, this is the first I've heard of any of Relic's games doing this (that I remember anyway). What I'd suggest you do is uninstall, reboot, re-install, and then go to c:\program files\THQ directory. In there, right click on the Dawn of War Directory, and go to Properties... from there uncheck the "Read Only" checkbox, and hit apply. If you have a permissions tab, go to it as well, and make sure your user account has full access to that directory.
