View Full Version : Game hangs constantly, no crashing

Greetings and I hope someone has some advice for me.

The game hangs continually while playing, close to locking up (mouse is always active though, and clicks are 'remembered' for when it moves again. It will then unfreeze and just continue on as normal as if nothing had transpired after 5-6 seconds. The soundtrack plays on without a problem. Seems to center most around clicking on the minimap to relocate or flipping units quickly and getting many voice tracks playing at once. This is happening VERY regularly (once every 90 seconds or so)

I do NOT get the feeling that it is trying to go to desktop (you know how a fullscreen game behaves when it attempts to do that to you) and the system runs just fine. The only thing running in the background on the system would be the anti-virus, as I never shut it off.

I tried it in multiple video/audio configurations, but the most I can do is lower the occurences SLIGHTLY. There should be no reason for this, but I get the feeling almost that it is trying to read from the CD or HDD during the game and that is causing the pauses.

System Specs:
P4 2.53ghz
1gb RAM
nVidia GeForce4 ti4600
200gb (non-system) hdd

Advice?

PS: Are there config codes to force the system to use most/all of my RAM resources and the same on my graphics card? You know, like 'Load High', for all you ancient DOS guys :) That would force all the tetures and sounds up into RAM so I could eliminate THAT probably cause, right?

Post your warnings.log file and dxdiag.txt. Also, see this post...

FYI, I had the EXACT same symptoms with the demo two nights ago, and playing the Retail last night, I had no problems what so ever.

I will do so this evening, and I would still be very curious as to any mods towards highloading or other tweaks people have found. I recall such being talked about during the beta.

Also, I agree, cancer does indeed suck.
