My Replays...

Ok Ive put the original file names back in and reuploaded everything..I think if they have custom badges (which I dont) it wont allow you to watch it without them. Try it and post your results here so we can figure what the problem is.

Description of Battle: Been learning 1v1, any useful replays Ill put in this thread. Not a ton of excitement yet, everyones still learning but educational I suppose. Ok, this one is against Dre hes like top five right now. I like his build, and am going to start using it, but I think Im gonna sneak a generator in while waiting for my FC. Anyways he builds more, gets cover, I lose game. =/ Short game like most.

Description of Battle: This guy was the first good chaos player I played. He smacked down my two squad rush because I got greedy. Then he did started hitting me from both sides, kinda screwed me over. Quick game, havent watched the replay yet, but his build is probably nice.

Description of Battle: This is corpse's ork game, really nicely played. He took the offensive and caught me off guard, teched up nicely. Per usual I lose, but this should be required reading for aspiring Waagh generals. Plus, lol this map is h8. You take the beachhead, gg.

Type: 1vs1
Win Conditions: Ranked

Description of Battle: This one is just to show I dont lose every game. =) A pretty nice back and forth Marine mirror. He tries to hit me from two points but in the end his divided more mobile force gets defeated piece by piece. First battle my FC gets stucked. I hates that.

How do i watch these.

After i downladed and unzipped them, i copyed them to my playback folder in DoW.

Then went to Skirmish, load game, load recorded game, clicked on Dre 1 v 1 Loss, but nothing would happen, it wouldnt load up or anything.

Any idea's ??

EDIT - Dunno, maybe custom badges. Some people are able to watch some of them tho even with changed filenames...so I dunno.

But after looking, my banner and badge directories are empty lol.

Just tried it with the files that Deadeye posted previously that didn't work for me, and they worked perfectly once the filename is modified to something shorter.

Filename probably has to be 32 or 64 characters long (or less). Somebody might wanna test out the exact number of characters.

interesting replays. gave me ideas on the importance of aggresiveness and some decent builds for SM.

also got me thinking how I wish we were able to see all the tech messages and exactly just what a building was researching/building. (damn their incomplete replay system)

Well...

Seems that the game version do matter. I can't watch any replay with my french version of DoW. As soon as the replay begin, I got an "Sync Error"...

Annoying :(

It's not the file name length, it's the extra periods in the file name.

The game is probably scanning the file name up to the first period and then it finds something other than the "rec" extension for recorded games and assumes it's not a recorded game file. If you edit the name and replace the extra periods with spaces the files will show up.

Description of Battle: Dont know much about Naru, but he played at least as good as me so I say hes decent. =) Reason I put this up is I have some nice unit control and FC attachment, detachment. The plan was to knock out a Waagh banner early and hold him til I could get HBs. The orc weakness is the banners. No banners is no tech is no win for teh ork. As soon as I have three squads and bolters, its GG.

Does anyone know a good site for replays and multiplayer strategies? Every RTS / strategy game has one, so there's gotta be one for DoW :)

Just saw your replay with Narumaru and that was some nice unit control. I thought you lost a squad pretty early on, then one Space Marine just walks to the side. Also saved your Force Commander nicely with the attatchment to the squad.

Thanks, its comin along. Only been playing three days and this is a big change from War3. Im lookin forward to checkin yours out. Several really good players in there.

How do you post up replay's once you have saved them, do you need to host them or something ??

Br33ze: We're hosting the replays. All you need to do is follow the rules, zip up the replay, and attach it.

I'll see if we can get a plugin/hack up and running to make the process simpler for submission purposes.

Yeah, you're right. I did some further tests and the periods don't seem to bother it for me either. Mind you, I haven't run into any problems watching replays yet so perhaps my situation for diagnosing problems with them isn't the best.

Now back to pondering why DoW's replay interface is more primitive and cumbersome to use than that of Warcraft III despite being released two years after that title.

well I can't watch any of your replays. I get a sync error as soon as the game has loaded.

This is the first time this has happened to me, so my conclusion is that your replas are screwed :)
