I have played many games in my life, so many that i wont even bother listing them.

Purchasing this game was a completely random expirience for me. I had not heard of the Warhammer universe, hell, i had barely heard about this game (i have been known to dabble in the world of Madden, and that seems to be all i care for lately). But let me just say this ; this is one of the best RTS games that i have every played before in my life.

The animations are top notch - watching a rocket knock orcs straight into the sky never gets old

The graphics are fantastic - i dont have to explain much here, just to say that the pictures of this game on web sites dont do it justice. THIS HAS TO BE SEEN RUNNING

The story line is great - while the game is a little short, i throughly enjoyed the story mode

The actual concept of the game is also fantastic. Equipping squads with multiple weapons, adding leaders, upgrading the hell out of units; the depth in this game is amazing.

Anyway, i just want to say that you guys have done a great job. If nothing else, just know that you have redifined my standards for an rts game, and probably done so for thousands of other gamers as well. (which isnt a simple feat in these times of 'Starcraft',Age of empires, Rise of Nations, and many others)

Thank you . Im sure the great skirmish mode will hold me off until you release the expansion..... which should be on the top of you priority list right now :)

Very well written post that undoubtedly reflects very many peoples oppinion! I hope Relic start work on an expansion as soon as they can to keep interest in the game. They have created a wonderfull base product and now all they need to do is build off of it! ;)

I agree, it's finally a great W40K game on the computer (and great strategy game, W40K or not), I truly hope Relic will keep adding stuff to it.

Hopefully, if enough people give their friends positive feedback like this, the game will be successful, and Relic/THQ can really expand the game.

At my job, which is a rival game designer company that shall remain un-named, six people have already bought it and we're ranting so much about it that others are bound to pick it up. If nothing else to shut us up. :)

Personally, I think the silent majority feels this way. While all the SC zealots will come here and make it seem like this game doesn't kick the shit out of SC.

It's Blizzard isn't it? :p

i must agree this is the best RTS game ive ever played. I hope the modders get together and make a great balanced mod for us to use until expansion.

Relic; I have just registered to let you know this.... Well, I can't speak for Relic, but I'm sure I speak for the mods when I say we're glad you've registered. :p

All I have to say is that coming from a Madden fan that is some seriously high praise.

Amen!

I registered just to gloat/point out where I got it yesterday.

But I am entirely comfortable with using my second post to talk about how great the game is.

Keep it up Relic! (Also, if you want to do a sims style thing, where you release multiple expansion packs, each with a separate race, I think you would be wildly successful!)

Just to throw my two cents in, holy crap the game is terrific. Slightly beyond terrific, really. I adore it and I only just picked it up yesterday. I love all the races (bar Chaos Marines, really, as they just disturb me slightly, but they also win). Expansion pack ho! I want more.

Heliotic: Don't give them any ideas about pulling a Sims style thing. I'd rather a couple high quality expansions with a good amount of features than four thousand tiny ones, each adding a different color to someone's eye, or a plant.

Good point, although a better comparison might be the MW4 Mech Packs.

Although my pre-ordered copy has not arrived yet (today I hope) I have kept a close eye on the games progress and forum (even posted a few times)

For me one thing stands out more than anything, and that's the commitment, passion and determination from but Relic and THQ to make this game great.

I have no doubt that this will be a great title with an excellent future.

My hat goes off to both Relic & THQ and my many thanks.

Oh, and welcome to the boards!

I'm with Wave_Rider555. Thanks a lot to the whole team for a greta game.

It's really perfect for those times when I don't want to set up the TT game.

And perfect in about every other sense as well :)

Well being a lurker of some repute ;) I must also say that after the Demo I was hooked and just last night stayed up way to late(3:00am) playing the retail campaign. DoW and Beer are a match made in heaven and a great fun game to boot. LOL
If the price is the same as the Mek Paks were that would be a great idea indeed.

I agree with all of the good things being said about Dawn of War - I have played many RTS games (I started with the original Command and Conquer) but recently I have taken a long break from the genre because it appeared to have become stagnant in several ways.

Dawn of War is different - it nicely refines RTS gameplay and is so wonderfully presented! The visuals are simply fantastic - it is a joy to watch my marines lay down a hail of fire to shred my enemies.

Great job Relic - I look forward to more in the future!

I failed to see this message before posting an almost identical post a minute ago, yes I am blind as a bat. I would like to add that it is clear there was a very strong attempt to make this extremely entertaining. I think it is the best game Relic has made and the best RTS game you can buy. Very, very top notch. IGN and Gamespot should be ashamed of not giving a much higher score (although they were rave reviews nonetheless).

As a long time fan of the WH40k universe I can safely say you guys nailed it. Awesome work. The game is all the buzz around work. some people just havent picked it up yet, or ar ehesitant bc of their system requirements. but all in all, a ton of excitement about it where I am. (SF bay area, CA. USA.)

Just got the game today, ran (okay, drove- but fast like) to the shop after work to get it.

It's not the most original game in the world (I think that originality is over-rated, anyway) but it's got some original touches.

It's incredibly exciting to play. And absolutely stunning to watch.

I'd forgotten after not playing WH40k/Space Marine for years how rich the backstory was, and how grim it's depiction of humanity's future was. They've nailed that atmosphere, and the models are first rate (don't imagine anyone else doing better).

Finally, a WH40k game worthy of the source material. I bet the people at GW are happy with the game!

Money well spent. Roll on the mods/expansion packs!

Well, refering in to the MW4 MEch PAcks isnt a good idea as there si a mod out by mektek with out does the microshaft version 10 fold, plus more are on there way.

I think the RTS genre was getting slow was everythinkg was to clean cut, man killls man, tank kills man, plane kills tank. This is a dirty fighting game, reminds me of a pub brawl. IT great! When a squad goes one on one, you not sure what the outcome will be. There is alot more thinking that goes on in this compared to other RTS's.

I just wanted to say that I agree with you 100%.

I am actually a Ghost Recon/Rainbow 6 player (1st person tactical)
I got bored with the RTS scene way back in the Warcraft II days because most RTS's follow the same formula (i.e. Build grunts, mine resources, build buildings, build massive numbers of units (hopefully faster than your opponent) and let them fight).

I looked at Warhammer 40k:Dawn of War because I used to play the tabletop game ages ago. I originally downloaded the demo and was pleasantly surprised because it didnt follow the same RTS formula and changed quite a bit to make it fresh.

I say the number one priority now is the map editor so that the community can keep it alive until the official expansions come out.

Keep up the good work Relic!!!
