Hiya guys,
Just checking on something.
How long should it be taking for my DOW to load at the beginning and start missions?
I have:
1.4 gig proc
256 megs of ram
Win ME
Geforce 5200 FX ultra
Currently any "please wait loading..." screen takes about two or three minutes(or enough time for a short nap) for me. Is this normal? The game works awesomely, once I get into it.
Thanx,
SRO

It loads within 20 seconds on my computer.
Maybe you should ??defragment?? your computer (sorry, I'm dutch, dont know the english word)
The SP missions loads in a minute or so, but my computer is only just bit faster than yours.

There's another fellow reporting long load times on ME as well. I suggest you contact THQ, see if they have any advice.
Your warnings.log and dxdiag.txt could be helpful.

That's probably about right considering you have a comptuter with 256mb of ram. I used to have a computer that I played Battlefield 1942 with and it would take about that long.
More memory means less reliance on virtaul memory(page file), so faster load times.

It's almost certainly due to your low amount of RAM, I think.

Im getting load times that are at least 5 minutes too.
I have P4 1500 mhz
512 mb ram
radeon 9800 pro 128 mb
The load times are ABSURD. Luckily i have a tv in the same room as my computer.
Can we just for once have an actual problem fix on this forum?
PLEEEEEASE?

what happens if you changed all graphic settings to low?
what happens if you defragged your harddrive?

IF you have Windows 98/ME apparently the load times suck. The only workaround I know for this (key word, workaround) is to upgrade to Windows XP (which you should be on anyways, as it's the best OS microsoft has released).

arg... looks like it is a windows me issue. I'm running a p4 2.6, 512 mb, uata133 hdd, win me, nvidia 5200 ultra. System restore disabled, 10% disk space used, hdd defragged, zero programs running in the background, scandisk ok, virus scan ok, recent mbd drivers installed. Tried turning down graphics to medium, turning shadows off, still really long load times. The game runs very smoothly, just takes forever to load.
I also noticed that the more games I play without restarting the application, the longer the load times get. After playing 5 maps, the load time time was about 7 minutes.
The only unusual thing I've found in the log files is "23:35:23.6 RENDER ANIM -- Art/EBPs/: Unable to open file!" in the warnings.log file.

It's also a Win98 issue as well... same OS core though really.
That error's ok, just ignore it.

I may be beating a dead grox here, but it seems the long load times on windows me might be a network timeout. I get no disk activity for a long time, and when my firewall is turned on it shows wh40k attempting to access the internet. There's probably something in the lua files that controls this, but I've had no luck finding it.

If it's slow on loading a skirmish, then it's likely not a network issue.
