Any of you guys know what program would open the .avi files from DoW?
For example, I have tried every movie playing program on my computer to open the Intro Movie, and I get missing software issues.
I am looking to make that movie into a screen saver....

newtype u cant they used a special codec to encode them so you cant just watch them in default media player ud have to look somehwere which has it encoded in right codec

everyone can make those pics. Just prees print screen when the movie plays and then got to the DoW folder and look at the map screenshots. It's that simple

yes m8 but you dont get them in 1600x1200 resolution, in game cinematic is not looking so good too, also just run the game and notice how does the orc flamethrower guy look and then look and the pic with him, completely different quality, is there any way we can get such quality too? i tried changing in game resolution too full and 32 bit but it didnt help.

These stills have been rendered by Blur in high res specially for the sites that got em, while the intro movie is a lot lower resolution, plus compressed so you cannot get them from there.

The amount of detail that Blur put into this animation is amazing. I mean - in a divx intro they could have gotten away with far less detailed textures and models. But no, they did a beautifull job wich clearly shows in these stills. And Relic, every cent you payed for that intro is well deserved :D

No, it's just the DIVX codec with a slight change. If you have XVID installed you probably already have a small program named Avic Four CC changer. Run this and use it to open a COPY of engine\movies\dow_intro.avi it should default both boxes to DXGM, change the bottom one to DIVX and click apply. It will now open in any old player.

Just note the sound isn't stored in this file.. so you will get no sound playing the movie in this way.
