View Full Version : Hold Ground bug.

This bug was in the beta where any squad could continue shooting while it was being engaged in hth if the controling player, after the charge was issued, changed back to ranged stance.
Now however I have seen it a few time, so I have replicated it, that especially the chaos Raptors and the space marine Assault squads have a hard time actually keeping units in hth. I am not reffering to units dissengaging and dancing, I am reffering to units continuing to fire after engaged.
Does not happen each and every time, so not consistant, but please look into this. Next time it happens I will save replay and host it.

are you talking about the F2 key? press that and units will continue to use their weapons.
Its very annoying esspecially when they have plasma guns and Heavy bolters.

Regardless sometimes the unit you engage in hth will just not stop shooting. Happens a lot now that I am aware of it.
Uber... any info on this? You got any inside knowledge on this?

Nope... sounds like it might be by design though.
Could be something like they take more damage if firing their weapons instead of going hand to hand. Might just be a delay of some kind.

Messed around with it a bit today and noticed that the damage the units do it not impaired.. at least not a lot. I had a 10 man slugga squad engage a 4man Heavy Bolter squad. HB's would not stop shooting untill the sluggas were dead. Took one of the bolters with me though. Problem was the sluggas got their morale broken due to the massive damage the Heavy Bolters were doing. So it doesn't realy seem to be a delay.
I was first thinking that it might be that if the unit that is charging into hth does not outnumber the unit getting charged that all of the members of the charged unit would fire. However I did charge a spread out 10man guardian squad and engaged them all.
If this is by design it realy is a 50-50 shot when it comes to tieing up units.
How about what Kasrkin is talking about. Is that by design as well... Perhaps it is just a loophole in the programing.
Anyone else have this happen?

Update:
The issue is triggered by units on hold ground stance (f2). Anytime that is on the unit will not switch to hth even when attacked by another hth squad.
Replicated it 9 times out of 10.
