I notice Force Commander's wield weapons like swords and hammers and have great effect on normal organisms but better effect on Daemons. Is it based on it's technological power or it's spiritual power?

The force commander only wields a power sword in the single player campaign. I'm guessing he gets the force hammer later on (I haven't finished it myself). Force weapons channel the psychic energy of the wielder. Daemons have got a lovely weakness when it comes to psychic power.

Are we talking DoW or TT?
I know in TT Force Weapons automatically kill no matter how many wounds if the wielder makes a successful psychic test on a hit to wound.

some sm weapons are made to kill daemons, for example the grey knights all have anti-daemon weapons and they channel there psychic powers through there weapon and it and blasts foes apart with channeled warp-energies.

psychic weapons also rely on the powerfield of the weapon to be tuned signature of deamons it how grey knight are able to kill demons since though all grey knight are psychic most arent that very powerful and so they need properly tuned power weapons to generate the anti demon capcity. this is probably why force commaders can hurt demons more because most force commaders wont be psychic at all either that or its a fell weapon ( frostblade, all primarch weapons are fell weapons)

Just checked the manual. It says that the Blood Ravens, as a chapter, are psychically gifted. That's probably the reason why their force commander can brain a bloodthirster with relative ease.

force weapons are useless verse a bloodthrister, khorne doesnt use magic he is anti magic, twating a bloodthrister with a force weapon or nemesis weapon is like hitting it with a power weapon, waste time they dont have demonic aura they are protected by physical armour about as strong as tact dread armour ( terminator armour)

It's been a while since I've played the TT game, so I'm a bit behind on my fluff (especially the chaos stuff, since I never played as them). Did the bloodthirster develop this psychic resistance in 3rd edition, or is it new to the 4th edition?

nemesis force weapons are consecreted and anointed with sacred oils, phychically charged and inscribed with devotional scripts and wards to destroy denizens of the immaterium (quoted from codex daemonhunters)

i only played up to 2nd edition rules but you could never hurt a bloodthrister with force weapons because of collar of khrone they had change it save from 3+ on 1d6 to 3+ on 2d6 because people were pwning it with lascannons because it save could be modified

Collar does sound familiar. Did it protect against psychich powers as well, or just weaponry?

In DoW, in the single player campaign the FC gets a Daemonhammer, which is a thunderhammer like assault terminators use, but has been blessed, consecrated and annoited with holy oils which makes it potent aaginst daemons. It is not a force weapon, hence the user does not need to be a psyker to use it.

Yes. Those Daemonhammers (in general) are particularly nasty, and act as a Thunder Hammer only they also strike in Initiative order, rather than Initiative1. As for the Collar of Khorne, the Bloodthirster/Greater Daemon entry never states that it has one, and its an item you must "purchase", so i'm guessing it doesnt get it. Besides, Nemesis Force Weapons are still generally effective against Greater Daemons, as much as any other CC weapons anyway, allowing wounding on 4+ which you wont get much better unless weilding a Power Fist, and we all know that against a Greater Daemon, especially a Bloodthirster, thats very dangerous.

Is there any scientific explanation as to how holy oil and blessings can help defeat daemons? Does it cause some sort of biological damage to the daemon or is this something that is mystical and has no scientific explanation?

Faith i guess. My guess is, its the same kinda thing as holy water on Vampires.

How would you react if you found yourself in a temple of Nurgle? Rotten corpses everywhere...maggots crawling around...cultists swimming in it...defacation smeared all over the place...you would probably find it extremely disquieting to say the least and more likely vomit...how effective are you in combat while reacting like that?
Your body is based in the "real world" and in the "real world" your body is designed to do certain things and act a certain way. Being in a Nurgle temple is not a natural place for your body to be.
Enter the demon, although having a physical component, it is also there as a heavy protrusion from the Warp, the Immatterium...it is vulnerable to certain holy waters, oils and smells like you are to maggots, filth and rotting slime. It may not actually hurt it, but it may make it recoil in "horror" at the cleanliness and sterility of such substances as you react to the disgust of unclean things.
If you can make a demon back away for even a moment, you may get an opportunity to squeeze off and extra round, or bring your power axe down before it tears your head off.
They try to do it to you. They try to appear fearsome and terrible to scare you...to give them a pysch advantage.
Do it back. Get some Holy Water, get some sacred oils...it may be all the chance to need to win.
NOTE: Just my theories from years of roleplaying and wargaming. Do not test this if confronted by a real demon...it may not work. Go find a priest...or better still...a shrink.
