I doubt it. I think the way it works is that guys equiped with Heavy Weapons are about the same in close-combat as guys without. Haven't checked this out, but most of the time Burnas are for breaking morale like other Flamers anyway. With Slugga Boyz charging in all the time, they'll rarely get to use this unless you want to change their stance (in which case you're wasting their close combatant potential). So don't bother.

rarely get to use? i also stick a burna in every one of my slugga squads, they may not get to complete roast the other squad :D but they get to flame it a bit when closing to hand to hand. and if you just move them next to a squad and not tell them to attack it they sometimes will stand there a bit and shoot.

burna boyz do anti vehicle damage in CC according to the manual. i'm not sure if they get any bonuses against heavy infantry though.

Not really. If you use the assault stance your units should run in firing, giving your burnaz a couple shots which is enough to do a good amount to their moral, then they should engage in CC.
As for the the name question, no. Burnaz don't count as power weapons in CC and if the rules are strict to the table top, any unit equipped with a heavy weapon should be less effective in CC because of it.
Oh and the reason burnaz are good CC weapons against vechicles is because they are cutting torchs that the orks turn up into flame throwers, so they can switch them back to cutting torchs to tear up vehicles.

but if you look into CC you see the ork burna boyz shooting flame which i dont believe you see the space marine flamer guys doin, they just butt them with the gun. it seems like burna boyz use them as a torch in HtH also which is meant to cut armor=power weapon? sorta? LOL maybe just with a slower attack or somethin?

The reason he asks, though, is that in TT burnas *do* count as power weapons in close combat.

i have a feeling that they dont but they do attack more in HtH than a flamer, but i dont see them doin any damage(maybe not max upgraded) but i guess its for morale. and all the choppas are pretty much power weapons anyways aren't they? they dont ignore army but hey they're a default basic troop weapon!?

There are no such things as "power weapons" in DoW, rules-wise.
Rather, every weapon has a specific penetration value vs. each of the 14 armor types. If you want to know more, check out the modding forum.

Aren't there such things as power weapons? After all, in the guide, it lists every close combat weapon as Power Weapon: Yes or Power Weapon: No.
After all, there's an "armor" stat in addition to armor type, yes? So a power weapon would probably ignore the actual armor value (maybe have higher effectiveness against heavy infantry too).

what about the power weapon apgrade 2 a SM sargent? says it COMPLETLY ignores armour saves in the description.

The manual is wrong about MANY things. For instance, it stats that Sarges can see stealth, and they cannot.
I've been through many of the weapon files (again see the mod forum), and I've never seen anything describing "a power weapon." I guess I could be wrong, and it would be helpful if a more experienced modder spoke up.
AFAIK, no weapon ignores armor totally. Even something like the Big Mek's Power Claw does poorly against some armor types (described in the file: ork_power_claw_mekboy.lua).

any chance you could tell us which armor types those would be as he tears about anything :D and he eventually turns into an anti-armor machine. anyone notice how he can also repair vehicles?

I could post the stats, but then I'd have to explain what the numbers mean, and cut n' paste in the LUA file, and explain the 14 different armor types... blah de blah.
I'm feeling lazy today, suffering from "here's how Ork tech works" post fatigue. If you really want to know, pop over to the modding forum and learn how to read those files. It's interesting stuff.
