Oh......lolly. Ok, cut the 50 million question marks, it makes you look bad. Ok, the question. Well, you see, it doesn't truely matter if you lose boys, because it does not lower your pop limit, it actually makes more room for more orkz. Yes, orkz are meant to die like flies. Waagh banners affect your pop limit. They die, and you're screwed :)

acutaly your both wrong. And I have tested this. The "tech level" of the orcs is based off of adding the current in game pop size to the number of unused waaaggg. This means that adding new units does not effect your "tech level" in any way. Losing units on the other hand hurts your tech level. Also there is nothing you can do to increase the rate at which the waaggg comes in. It is determined by the current "tech level". Building additional waagg banners does nothing to increase the rate that waagg is made. However the max "tech level" and the max pop size is determined by your waaagg banners. Make sure that you have enough, if your pop size+ unused waagg = your max pop size, you gain 0 additional waag (its as bad as having orcs die, but costing 0 req). So attack if/when you think you can do damage to the opponet, but make sure to run if you are outnumbered. NO SUICIDE ATTACKS!

It's a matter of perspective, honestly.
OK, let's try this again:
DarthVaygr is using the simplified explanation, which I also prefer. It's close enough and a HELL of a lot simpler than the full version.
The simplified description works in 99% of all games. Unless you lose virtually ALL of your Orks at the same time, the simple description is effectively correct.
obsid is refering to the real system, although even his description is incomplete. The whole, true story is here:
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?p=471225
If you understand all that, more power to you. But, I've been explaining this to people for 7 weeks, and less than 10% of people really understand it. I saw a lot of people just give up on playing Orks because they were intimidated.
Hence, we came up with the simplified version because most people are frankly not smart or motivated enough to "get" the full version.
So.... the simplified version or the complicated version? It's your call, how dedicated are you?

Building additional waagg banners does nothing to increase the rate that waagg is made.
This is not, strictly speaking, the "truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth."
Indirectly, Waaagh rate is affected by number of banners. Again, the thread I linked above covers all the details.

Hey Vertigo, just paste this into every ork thread from now to Christmas and you should be all set!

Why not? I've been doing it for 7 weeks straight already.
Actually, I'm just getting tired of it. Can someone else link to Preacher's post for a while, so I can take a break?
Preferably someone who actually understands the system, BTW...

Hold on a minute, what is meant by "Tech is locked"? Does it mean that you can't research tech that is higher than your pop, or does it mean that and that tech which you've researched but that you've now dropped below the pop-req for is temporarily removed from your units?

No upgrades require pop as a prerequisite, IIRC. As far as I know, they can never be removed once researched.
However, buildings and units DO have pop requirements. Thus, yes, if someone kills your entire army instantly, lots of stuff may become unbuildable for a short time.
