ok so i don't play the eldar myself. however i had a team game against two eldar and one SM team. On my team were 2 chaos and 1 orks. I ran up early to try and cause trouble, but i noticed no bases for the eldar. However, units kept popping out of nowhere. Eventually we destroyed the SM base and he dropped. After that, me and my team moved on to try and destroy the eldar teams. However, still no bases. We completely covered the map, and they just kept getting units, and messing with us for about an hour or so til we just gave up. I saved the replay so I could see what was up. The eldar bases on both teams had this glow around them, and when I watched towards the end of the game, when we couldn't find them, all of my teams units were just standing right in the middle of the invisible (to me at the time) bases, and not attacking.

NOW, this was a rather lengthy explanation, but can you eldar players just fill me in? Can your whole base be made invisible? Or were these two cheating?

I have the replay saved if it turns out that you can't make them invisible, and anyone wants to see what I'm talkin about.

Eldar have a shroud ability that is projected from their webway gates, but commanders should be able to see through it.

Hello, I am not an Eldar player, but I know that Eldars can turn buildings invisible. They can teleport buildings too (could someone confirm...) and build webway gates everywhere on a map.

That's not a cheat.

Probably they relocated their base to some godforsaken corner and were popping troops through scattered cloaked portals

OHHHHHH, so i'm not crazy. just stupid enough not to bring a commander around.

Commander, Librarian, Sorceror, Chaos Lord, Squig, Avatar, BloodThirster, Farseer can see Cloaked buildings.

The Building relocation takes about 45 seconds as the buildings fades out from one area, and fades in at another area close to a portal.

As an eldar player I find that hilarious

awwww , the god forsaken corner trick , many a time has that won me a game. Basically most eldar players will research shroud and matrix teleport thingy (cant remember the name) and build their base in a corner. i hid in a corner with a relic built an Avatar , 6 wraithlords , 3 fire prisms and 4 vypers. as soon as they realised "oh shit! an avatar" they were screwed my army just annihihalted them. So in short , u suck against eldar and if u ever come accross someone playing as eldar change ur trousers cause u just **** them

AFAIK, uber units (avatar, BT) do NOT see stealth.

It's just the command units, plus the Seer Council, Apoth, and Medic.

the invisability is Permament aslong as its on

But using stuff like OB and ES and ofcourse using a FC or some other unit to seem them its not really that much of a biggy.

though i saw this thread

and i was laughing my head off lol!

Gotta love the webways. The Eldar are the Viet Cong of DoW

Yeah, Eldar makes for great "hide the farm" action. Plenty of time to rebuild, relocate, etc since very few units can see the cloaked buildings, and you can have plenty of bases. (The one time I had my base destroyed, I started 2 mini bases in opposite areas of the map, so even if one was discovered I'd have another left.)

Hehe today in a 3 vs 3, my 2 of allies dropped so I just build plenty of cloaked stuff in the map. 2 of the 3 players left because they were bored of searching for my buildings, and I killed the last guy myself. Lol at the end he was accusing me of cheating because I got my units "with no base", like he said.

All I ask is that you Eldar players let it go when you know you're beat. We just recently had a guy teleport around the map for 20 minutes or so just to annoy us and waste our time. It might be funny for you, but not for anyone else. :)

BT sees through stealth. In the game I mentioned above I made a BT and ran around destorying his buildings. That's how we eventually won.

You are wrong. Just tested the BT in a LAN game. In your game someone was obviously spotting for the BT, maybe your CL or CS.

I don't know why I even bothered testing. For almost 8 weeks people having been saying "this sees stealth, that sees stealth." For 8 weeks the list has never changed, not since Beta 1.0. The Devs basically said the list can't change without breaking balance.

The SGA files also list every single detector in the game ("keen_sense" ability).

It's just a big fat myth that refuses to die. The list remains the same as stated: Commander units, SC, Apoth and Dok, plus a smattering of special SP units.

I am glad you are doing the testing Vertigo. I pay special attention to your posts, even if nobody else does. Keep up the good work!

Haha, ok I get it, I was wrong. Sorry for the post. In that game I spoke of I was just walking the BT around destroying stealthed buildings, no one was with him, but obviously something else must have been spotting the buildings.

In 1v1, esp with large maps, it's always fun to relocate your base at the very start of the game and surprise the other person =D

Just wondering, if i place a my farm with shroud on close to an enemy listening post, will that see thru it?

I apologize if this is a stupid question and ill understand if no one wants to answer it.

Yes, listening posts can see infil units so if you're within the site range of a listening post then it will see it.

LPs don't see stealth. NO buildings (unless you count mines) see stealth.

Don't they? I could have sworn they could when my Ranger infil squad got shot down by an lp...

Did they hit a minefield? Minefields knock units out of stealth (though they don't "spot" per se)

Maybe that's why then..

the building which shrouds everything is the webway and it only affects an area around it. u have to research if in the webway 200 strat and 200 power. The webway can also move building which are close by to another webway. U have to research that too, cant remember how much that is. But buildings will become uncloaked when they are moving. They can only move builds which are directly near by and it take some time to move that building again throught the webway. As mention before u need a command unit to see them.

If u are stupid enough not to have commanders around when u go in to a elders base u deserve to lose :)

Relocation is priceless when you build a tank maker building (forgot the name) and your wraithlords are built between the building and a wall..and to think it took me 10mins before I remembered Eldar can move buildings :D
