I dont want to whine or anything, just give you guys some facts:

I played around 80 games with chaos so far, losing only 8 games:

1 to space marines, 1 to ork and 6 to eldar.

I just played a league game against a guys who has played 25 games in total, some with sm, some with orc, some with chaos.

In our game he choose to play eldar, and guess what, he won.
After the match he said, that he only played some skirmish games prior to our game. He switched because he had heard about the sc issue.

Well, for me, this does not seem right at all.

Your opinions please.

I have a total of 3 different kinds of rushes i can do as Eldar.

Along with about 10 other sneaky early-game tactics.

None of which revolve around the Seer Council.

The SC is not overpowered, they are just applied to the correct vulnerable enemies.

As for his reasoning, its a Placebo effect, hes playing Eldar because he heard the 'SC are overpowered'. I ask him this, Did the SC play a critical role?

Just started playing DoW and love it! Up to the 8th mission. I don’t have allot of time anymore to game but I have to say any free time that I can sneak away I’m playing DoW. Have my first head to head game w/ my old 40k TT friend this Sat. It’s been over 5-6 yrs since I rolled the dice and have a huge chaos TT army tucked away in my closet. He plays Eldar and myself devoted to Khorne. Now saying all that the e-mails back and forth to each other are getting hot, LOL. What is the best way to beat his Eldar army into space dust, and does Eldar have a advantage over Chaos?
Thks.

All the sides are balanced, it how you play them that counts, i've gone against chaos alot, and it's very hard to beat. defilers are a safe bet (as always) the artillary will screw their morale and the are great in CC. The thing to watch is the Seer Council, Possessed are a good choice aswell.

Break there morale, thats all I have to say. If you don't get rushed early, do a 2 heavy bolter and 2 flamer combo with a backup squad with either 2 more heavy bolters and 2 plasma guns.

I find plasma guns eat through anything, even SC. If its really late in the game, just send a few defilers and bombard the ground where there rushing in. Amusing to see 15 SC come rushing towards you to be pounded by artilery and get thrown in all directions. If need be, get the defiler into CC and let it pound the SC. :smash:

Possesed... all the way, they can be built pretty much from the off, and a fully upgraded PCM squad is about the only thing aside from Bloodthirsters which can go toe to toe with the Eldar Seer council.

Personally I tend to go for 2x cultists, Lord, Chaos Marines then go straight into possesed production, if you can get a possesed squad out before his seer council arrives, get an armoury built whilst they are on their way and then start upgrading them ASAP (and put flamers on you CSM's at the same time) then you stand a good chance of beating his council down with the PCM and CL and turning the game to your favour.

Also, use your cultists to engage any Dark reapers you may see, should keep them tied up and stop them from mauling your PCM/CSM squads too much whilst you shoot them to death :D

It's a bit of a close one, if they seer rush you, you're in trouble, but then that's the case anyway!

Also remember that if the Eldar player has any sense, his SC will be using conceal, this makes ranged fire against them next to ineffective, meaning to kill them effectively it needs to be done in CC and your ranged fire is far more suited to taking down his reapers/spiders/guardians/banshees.

Just hope your opponent hasn't worked out how to use entangle effectively yet ;)

I had a very easy game vs eldar once where i was using 2 csm squads with flamers (or only 1 squad, dunno), cl and 2 cultist squads, the cl attached to one of those, the other squad with gls. The Seer council broke fast but i was never able to redo that because that guys was quite the newb. I always encountera 6-7 sc with fs and 2 squads of guardians. And guardians kill cults very fast in non hth (that would be the gren squad).

But oh well, we will see what the future brings :)

Hey thks for all the advice!!!! I will put it to good use on Sat. I tell you after playing the TT 40K for good number of yrs, DoW is exactly how I envisioned 40K combat would be like. What a great job!! I even broke out some of my Khorne-Terms and Berserks and set them on my monitor LOL. Talk to u soon
PS… I’ll post how I made out.

Maybe the seer council is over-powered, maybe not. I don't find them to be an incredible super-weapon though. I had three sqauds of cultists+chaos lord in one of them (full up+nade launchers), two squads CSM (flamers then plasma+flamers)...thats it. The Eldar guy had two guardian squads, two reaper squads, and a seer council+farseer. I was suprised at how apparently useless Reapers are against mass cultists as I chased the reapers with my CL+Cultist squad. My other two squads of cultists (although getting wiped out in the process) held off the council and farseer long enough for my flamer and plasma equipped CSM to annihilate the guardians and the council. Of course both sides were reinforcing but it became apparent that his attempts to reinforce the SC ate up all his resources as I was able to tech up to defilers and hold two raptor squads in reserve even though I never needed them and he couldn't. Also didn't hurt that apparently he didn't understand that building reapers instead of banshees or even guardians when his aspect portal is surrounded is a bad idea. Maybe he got too occupied at keeping his reapers away from my chaos lord but still I didn't see how the SC is OMFG unbelievable. Alot of the time I think it mostly comes down to proper force management and that with all the other races you can bully your way through against them with sheer weight of numbers as opposed to having to field a balanced force against the eldar because of their specialist units.
