View Full Version : Anyone giving advice? (Black Templars)

Well, I thought it was about time to unearth my SM's again... Ive been painting a Black Templars force for some time...but never had a chance to play with them. Just got me a few new models so the army list isnt THAT functional...I just wanted to put my new dreadnought in it :Slap:

I had toyed with the idea of a Chaplain, but with having to pay 105 points for the E's Champion it left me with few options to outfit my troops and with even fewer marines! :smash:
Please tell me what you think... Advice is good, compliments are nice...and insults will be ignored...but apart from that...say what you like! :D

K then I'd recommend that you:-
Drop the Marshall for a chappy, due the fact you get a 4+ invulnerable save.
Give the dread a lascannon, most people take armoured things and assault cannons just aren't that good anymore. Though one rumour says they are supposed to be rending weapons(Like stealer claws) so wait on that one.
Give your veterans or whatever they are a rhino transport just to get you across the battlefield.
Drop a unit of assault marines and then perhaps add in some heavies for the anti armour busting, like a pred or perhaps a vindicator, etc.

Well for me personaly i would drop atleast one of those assult squads personaly i would drop both then pick up a currsaider and load it with 15 assualt marines :D. since black templar can have 15 men squads and you can have ur sqauds armed with CC weapons at no additional cost. plus u get a currsaider which tears apart infintry which is always nice to have when the CC guys can't handle 30+ orks or nids or an army like that..
Ok... drop the marshall, get a Librarian, don't give him a gun -you have smite for that- tool him up for some close combat power (Lightning claws are good) and put him in an assualt squad.
If you have the bits for the dreadnought I seriously recomend the plasma cannon, it slices through infantry like... *Shudder*. Drop one assualt squad and bump the other to full squad size.
Hmm, get some heavy support, either a devestator squad or a whirlwind.

I would drop the Marshall for a Chaplain, keep the jump pack but lose the powerfist. Chaplains come with a Crozius Arcanum (Chaplain Power Weapon) and a 4+ inv.
I might even put him in Artificer Armour. Then put him with one of your Assault Squads.
Emperor's Champion, it looks like you already have a squad for him to hang around with. Maybe make that squad bigger and put them in a Crusader. Crusaders Rock, can't stress that enough.
I would also get something heavy, A pred with Twin Las + Hvy Bolters? Or a Dev Squad
Hmm, didn't think i wrote that much stuff down. oh well.
Also, one thing to remember when playing Black Templars, Many people will consider you "Beardy" i.e. cheating within the rules.
