Excuse me if this isn't the place to post 'hello' messages, As i've said I'm an newbie here at the Relic boards, so obviously i'm not intigrated and don't know too much about the inner-workings of the forums. (Reading over the FAQ now... watch me find a 'no newbie hello messages' after I post this message :( )
I've read through some of the threads and such before signing up and you all (or at least most :)) look like a great group of people!
I've had Homeworld for awhile now, unfortunately I was so caught up in a StarCraft fad that I never played it much despite it's excellence. Now, having my Brood War CD cracked in 4 peices, and having givin' away my StarCraft CD i've found myself losing total interest in the SC franchise. Since then Homeworld just grabbed me by the neck and won't let go and I can't stop playing and replaying. I Have HW:C too but I got that damned hour-glass bug and don't have the cash to get a new comp or a new CD drive (btw, if anybody can help me get HW:C running and squash the nasty bug, i'd be eternally gratefully)
Anyway this is getting long, i'll wrap it up with a quick few things. If anyone wants to know a lil' bit about me; I'm 14 (15 on 19th of January), currently writing an 'action packed' (heh) HW:C fiction, and well... i'm a newbie here at the forums.
Good day!

haha this guy is too nice, I can't lock it. (but yes "hello" threads are frowned upon)
if you really want to say hello, do it gradually by contributing to good debates and conversations on the boards.

Ah, I see. Well then. Thanks.
I suppose this thread is now kinda void and up for deletion.
you're 14? wow, i just read your post in the alien races thread. you remind me of a certain purple dragon that was running about a year ago.
welcome raptor09 (there are about 8 other raptors as well, btw ;))

Well, since this thread wasn't deleted or locked, I'd like to personally welcome you to the relic boards, it's always great to see a new face. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, either over PM, email, or AIM. Though, I'm only a year old here, I think I have the jist of everything.

Well, hello to everybody! hopefully become good friends with the good lot of you in the coming months. Since this thread is yet closed, is there any 'unspoken' rules that I should know about, before I walk blindly into them and get a bunch of people mad at me? :D

Hello Rapter09, hmmm... unspoken rules, unspoken rules... Most are spoken, however there are several inside ongoing jokes you should know about. For instance, whether or not dmille will fit in a box. Also, the boards here are notoriously unstable, just so you understand the line on HWU "The Relic boards are: UP."

Hey, here's an interesting idea. How about a forum just for hello messages for newcomers. Title it "Welcome Newcomers". Just a thought.

Who would go to it? Besides the newcomers themselves. Plus, they're are new people signing on at a rate of almost 3 per day, thier are almost 400 members. Do you know how much server space something that massive would take? Good, because neither do I, but it's probably a lot. Nice idea though:)

Thou Shalt not post "All your base are belong to us." Rather old, I believe a few people were banned because they refused to stop posting about it. But, that was awhile ago, so I do not know.

Oh, you could probably do it now with relative little consequence; the rule was put in several months ago on the ubb forum mainly because EVERYBODY wouldn't shut up about it, replacing otherwise diligent flames with "btw, omgeAYBABTU!!?!!??!!!111".
Just be certain that when posting, one does not delibrately attempt to unnecessarily attract the attention of others, or the ire of the administration.

Actually, it is my experience with "Newbie Forums" that they are a much welcomed edition to forums and at the least the one that I was witness to - the Newbie Forum at the now defunct Legacy Network Forums was used a lot. Most people welcomed the addition and from the newbie forum we spawned a plethora of active but intelligent members. It's just a matter of weeding out the good from the bad.
It doesn't take too much server space as far as I know. It's just like a regular forum where new people can - if they wish - post a hello message and have old school members say hi back and officialy welcome them to the forums, whereas in certain situations without such a forum a new member can get dejected if he makes sub-standard posts and more oft then not goes un-noticed. This would push a rather flood of inactive newbies because they left after being 'rejected' (in a sense), because afterall, we flock to forums and message boards to make our opinions known, and comment on certain things, but also to make friends.
... oh and Hello to you too Dyntheos, I'm pleased to be here.

I agree with frst... how the hell can we lock this thread when you two are too damn nice:/. Anyway enjoy your stay, this community is pretty close knit which allows for a cooler fan base imo.

Hey Raptor09, A little late, but still just saying hi.
I am the scourge of these forums. I have many decent ideas, which no one cares to know.
Just wanted to say HI from the Scourge.

Your post on the 'different types of alien races' thread was impecable. Kudos on your writing skills. As you can see mine's not so good.
One thing though, did you mean you're 15 and turning 16 on january or is your birthday suppose to be 1987? I'm not trying to nickpick anything it's just that for a long time i thought I was two years younger than my actual age. Getting old I guess.
