I find these assault troops to be really really good if you're playing levels with lots of impassible terrain!
Choosing what special weapons to take depending on your target, max them out in numbers plus a champion and then make sure you do that berzerk thingy and they can be a powerful unit, in twos or three they're amazing.
I like to use them to drop into an opponents base and strip him of all his power or all his strat points!
Sadly, it's all pretty useless later on in a game, you need to hit them early!

Great plan I have been using this with Space Marnies and Chaos for a couple weeks. I find it most effective in teir 1 in a one on one or two on two game. In the one on one game I send a few squads to their base and destroy it while my other troops run distraction against their main army. This usually works pretty well but in two on two games it's a little harder since they have a partner to back them up. I found that it still works if both me and my parner attack them head one and both of use send some squads in. This can usually destory one's base or most of the important stuff especially if your using Space Marines with Melta Bomb's but Chaos one's work fine just takes a little longer. Either way I found this a good plan that can suprise newer players and even some moderate to good one's if they haven't seen it before.

I find that a lot of experienced players will push out of their base, leave few defences in favour of an aggresive game style meaning you can drop your Raptors in and take out the intended targets before they return.
But you need to attack weak things like Power and Strat points, going for their HQ will mean you'll get caught and killed because it's so tough.
Also, try teaming up with some Eldar Fire Prisms for maximum effect :D

They are a backup unit, not a primary unit, at least in 1v1. They just come too slow to be your main troop, but they are great for backup to your marines later on. I find that they don't do enough damage to hurt a base without a lot of time, but sometimes you will split their forces and allow your army to clean up half of their stuff somwhat easily.

Like I said, depends on what you target. If you have two squads theyll work through a power generator or listening post pretty quickly

Recent experice:
in a 3v3 or similar, have the allies do the obvious "full frontal" assault, you nip raptors in the back after the fight has kicked off and hump the base :)
At the very least, people start panicing about all ther red all overf their base sooooo suddenly :D

Yeah, you need to combine the attack with your allies making a move as well for the ultimate effect, it'll have the opponents panicing!
I played one game and they were staging a big attack, I dropped my Raptors in at the rear, attack their base, they turned their whole army round and came after me, and I just flew away. :D

The Speed Fiend upgrade definately helps with their mishief making abilities. Damn shame they didnt get nades like SM Assaults do. /sigh

Fear & Panic : two weapons of choice for Chaos :) If you still have raptors late in game, support them with Horrors, and if you are at tier 3 (for those 3vs3 especially) warp Oblits in along with horrors :) That makes a complete attack group that can teleport / jump in, in a few seconds. If you can slip in some cloaked CSM's with rocket launchers, it's all the better, but don't forget to provide some kind of distraction for the enemy somewhere else :) Do not max out your cap with infiltrated units in 2vs2. In 3vs3 on the other hand... mmmmh must try...

I've done maxed out caps with infiltrated units in 3v3, man they're always surprised to see 5 or 6 squads of heavily armed Chaos Marine appear in their base! Followed shortly by an assault of Possessed Marines, Predators and Obliterators!

I've used infiltrated CSM with quad rockets to destroy bldgs with much success. The problem is that's all you have there. They can come and mop up and you have to hope that u had enough time to cripple them. I'm currently working out the kinks. If you get them in there, that's gonna be havoc and destruction in their base. Next step, send a PSM-laden Rhino speeding in to hit their response force. Vehicles can start hammering the front door. Anyway I've been working towards this but have not implemented it fully since I've come up with the idea. I'll be trying it out soon.

I dont use hem much in favor of PSM, I like to use Space Marine assualt marines cuz of melta bombs, and not having that on ACSM turns me off to them.

Harrasing raptors can be anoying, but ASM are much better on that because of their MBs.
I have only to uses for them, jumping behind the enemy and flaming his firepower, for allowing my PSM to mob him up, or (mostly in teamgames) to plasma his ML-Squads, so that my SM-buddy can swarm him with his cybots.
With the speedupgrade and a good mirco (on which I still have to practice), you could fly circles around CC-Units left behind for guarding, while flaming his valuable ML or Plasma-teams.
Only prob is vs eldar because of the annoying entangle

It's always useful to have mobile infantry which can get behind enemy lines in the matter of seconds. Raptors are useful for engaging Rangers, Scout Marines, unupgraded LPs and are in fact the best melee non-hero unit at Tier 1. Not only they get the Chaos improved CC, but their Speed Fiend and the rage ability allow you to chop trought any low-level army.

i usually use raptors as a diversionary tactic. either drop them in on a base or RP, do some damage, and as my oppoenet comes to the fight, they jump away. Ill do this several times leading his forces (either main, or splits) away from his base. Using infiltrated CSM they pop up in the middle of his base and go to work. this tactic seem to work pretty well.
i sometimes use possesed and artiliary to attack his main force (hopefully it has split or scattered at this point) to make it seem like im making an major offensive.
what happens is then he is torn on what to do. save his base, attack my "main" force, or go after the annoying raptors.

bandersnatch: way to go ! That's how Chaos should be played ! Remember the name, "chaos"... that what must be the state of mind of your foes.. total chaos, leading to panic, fumble, hesitation..
Another idea: jump rators in, break something (like a generator), and when they engage in CC, warp in horrors, to add to the morale breaking + confusion..
