I have a freind whose name i will not mention due to his wishes but for now lets call him t.copas, he belives that eldar warp spiders should have to pay for thier teliport ability through an upgrade. he plays orks and thinks it's overpowered that orks have to pay to get a kustom teleporter and warpspiders don't, i was wondering what other ork players felt about this?

Their warping abilities are the essence of what Warp Spiders are. They wouldn't be Warp Spiders if they didn't warp by default; they'd just be...well...spiders.

try listening to the name WARP WAAAARP spiders :) it's kinda in their name and it's what they do even in TT they warp. if u look at their running speed they are REALLY slow, so when playing on TT if u couldn't warp they'd be dead in an instant.
and he's whining because they excess at mass murdering orks due to their armor.

that's alot with the eldar when playing TT they die when running into enemy zones because of their health/armor they aren't tough enough like orks e.g. that just rushes and trashes everything. so they rely on speed and agility ~ warp by others

Make Reaper launcher a seperate ability
Make Banshee power swords a seperate ability
Make Ranger Rifles a seperate ability.

Isn't that what you are already doing by researching in the Aspect Shrine? According to the fluff if you take off the clothes the a Warp Spider is the same as a Guardian. The act of putting on the mask changes their mindset to the Aspect Path they follow...that is until they get trapped as an Exarch...

So, an Aspect Warrior without the suit is just a guardian. In that sense the Aspect shrine is kind of a fasion boutique ;)

GZ, you don't even have to make things up concerning the Rangers, they've ALREADY made it so you have to research their cloaks. O_o

Its a sacrificed Aspect Warrior, generally a Reaper.

The Spider's teleport is the Eldar version of Jump troops. They should not be compared to a commander's ability. They are just ranged jumpers. Stormboyz don't have to research their packs. And the aspect stone costs almost as much as an armory or equivilent building minus some power and only allows the construction of spiders. I can't really see the teleport in anyway as unfair.

warp spiders can be tough....at times. Do they do splash damage or something or is it the duel death spinners because i've seen them kill marines in mass.

I think it just shoots at one target, it doesnt spray.

Warp Spiders are fine.

Orks just need their stormboyz fixed (though a buff somewhere would be nice).

I've foiled every WS rush I've come across from good micro.

* Garrison your orks inside an LP until the rest of the boyz and BM arrive.
* BM teleport w/ squad.
* Use Storm boyz (w/ nob) to jump into combat/cut off their escape.
* Rokkits trip units over (one less spider standing and shooting), rokkits are cheap, and rokkits are handy when vehicles show up, or if you've made it to their base. ROKKITS.

You can stick one squad in an LP. And you are saying, quite correctly, LEAVE THE FIELD TO THE ENEMY BECAUSE YOU WILL DIE IF YOU MOVE OUTSIDE. Their Guardians are capping while you sit there.

He is now max 16 speed. WS have 2 ports. If they blip he can't catch them. If they walk away, he can't catch them.

With nob, huh? So you're saying, you can't leave your base except for BM + one squad and you've managed to build 3 banners and Pile of Guns. WS destroy banners very handily and you have nothing except your BM to stop them. Storm Boyz can't cut off anything. They can try and slow them down, but they do crap dmg and if there is even 2 squads they are toast.

Heavy weapons on Orks against WS is the dumbest thing you can possibly do. They aren't cheap. They make their per unit cost higher than those of a WS and they do ZERO damage to a WS. Your one shot every 5 seconds means they will have killed 1.25 Orks by the time you shoot again when you have done no damage. Good game.

just nerf a bit the DPS of the WS so that they are strong vs light inf but do not vaporize it in 0.00000000001 seconds (they have the right to write down thir last will at least :D )

Their Guardians are capping while you sit there.This is more of a single (early game capping) squad kind of thing. What I'm saying is that one squad doesnt stand a chance against any amount of WS. Stalling until the rest of the boyz arrive is what Im suggesting.

Their teleports will be exhausted. Keep some boyz chasing them (assuming they'll try to dance you) while others smash the buildings/guardians (and obviously keep building more boyz to send in).

There's a whole anti-WS strategy using Storm boyz. Watch some of the replays.

I do see what you mean, but I've won every game against Eldar so far because they tried a WS rush against me, which I foiled using the above tactics. Works for me, so I thought I'd share.

WS range is crap also... they are fine, but really, once they get WS equipment, your LPs and banners dont even pose a threat.. what i do when im feeling especialy sneaky, is jump a BS into the back of their base, and put up a gate, then tele my WS in and mess them up enought that they pull troops back from the front lines, then attack there too. if i ahve them, FPs will jump first or later to clean up.
i did this recently in a eldar&sm vs. ork& eldar battle

DukeRustField stormboyz do slightly more damage then sluggas so its hardly "crap" damage.

as for the thread starter theres already been a discussion on this before, we came to the conclusion that warpspiders need a 15-20% reduction in penetration to infantry_high.
