The main thing that I buy games for is their multiplayer. The singleplayer can only be played a few times before it gets boring. With multiplayer, each game is different and therefore makes it more fun.
Thing thing I really want to see in hw2 multiplayer is different modes of gameplay. Here's a few:
FFA - this mode no one can ally
Two teams - this mode the game would start with both teams already being allied, being predetermined by the host
Three teams - this mode would be for 6 players, the 3 teams of 2 would already be allied when the game starts, predetermined by the host
Capture the flag - this mode there's this huge object in the center that takes 8 salvagers to move. Whoever gets the object back to their mothership first wins. (in this mode the mothership shouldn't be able to move)
Mission game co-op - the humans are allied and need to work cooperatively in a premade mission scenario
Mission game two teams - humans control all the ships in the mission, the one team is trying to complete an objective while the other tries to stop them
All the mission games of course would be mothership or you control a carrier or even you only have ships you're given from the start
