i have been working on my dark eldar troop model and i am getting fairly far with it you'll be pleased to know. what i would love to know how to do is add effects to my models. the main effect i need to know how to add is the bullet flash and to see the bullets flying in-game. but i also need to know how to make them burn etc.
I have 3DS max 6 and quite a lot of experience with it and assume it had something either to do with hardpoints and dummys, fx .luas and or something completely different.

There's a tutorial on the DOW Wiki about making muzzle flashes with the FX editor...

I believe the markers are placed on the models while still in Max. At least the SM provided shows several dozen markers for weapons, backpacks, etc. It might mean starting over from the exporting level.
Markers are point helpers in max. Just place them where you'd like your muzzle flash effect and link them to the bone that would move them (gun bone in your situation).

fiddled AS I ALWAYS BLOODY DO and found it out for myself first... im so useless...
The Y axis of the point helper is the direction the effect comes out (to set this choose the pointer effect and do 'affect pivot only' in hierarchy tab.
(most of you should understand this if you use max a fair amount)
also this and it being set up to a bone must be done in the REF.max file
hmm, thx for the usefull information there..
I was just going to try this when
I read this thread, so hopefully I won´t have any questions about it..
