View Full Version : *Updated* 1st and 2nd Edition Space Hulk decals for download
26th Nov 04, 12:36 PM
As said almost all the tiles ever made for 1st and 2nd edition of Space Hulk available.
Even made some mirrored and flipped copies of some irregular rooms so you have a few more to use.
Unless anyone finds error i didn't find this is final.
Some additions may happen when some sublime more custom decals are made or found or when someone finds great textures for the rest of the ship.
Not all the room tiles are exactly the same size but setting that up is a disaster.
Just screw around with it a bit. They are almost exactly the same size.
Download SpaceHulkDecals.exe (members.chello.nl/g.koonings/SpaceHulkDecals.exe)

OK, so i tried to make a quick map with it.
I mean 128x128 put some corridors and rooms in and try it out.
Things i have yet to figure out:
I believe corridors should be 3 pixels/cells wide for a unit to be able to walk through it.
A tile should cover a 3x3 cells/pixels exactly. So i will just try that with one specific decal. Then in some arty prog i have to see exactly how many pixels a tile takes. For example 30x30 pixels.
Then all i have to do is make the rest of the pics so that 1 tile is 30x30 pixels and thus a room or 3x3 tiles should be 90x90 plus walls. Resize the pic properly and you're done.
Yes that is an insane amount of work, however, when done you can just set those decals to 100 % (or smaller for half size mods etc) and they will ALL fit exactly.
Then it's just a matter of how precise you can set them against each other :P
I think it can be done.
Since i didn't think it would be this much work/hard to get it right now consider the SpaceHulkDecal Pack a Beta.
If someone is fiddling around with this and finds something usefull PLEASE REPORT IT HERE !!! :D
It would sure help me.
I'll start on this all after the weekend.
Till it's done, have fun with them and just give me some feedback on what you think of them !

ok this is BS
i have a 1x2 tile being 124x100 pixels in a 128x128 .dds
so then i have a 1x4 tile being 246x100 pixels in a 256x128 .dds
so they should fit next to each other just fine and make a prefect fit right ?
and by the way the were both at 100% scale so normal
and still they don't connect properly
that is not even possible if you follow the laws of logic, and yes computers do...
so what's up with that ?
this is complete nonsense, and if crap liek this continues it'll be impossible to get the fitting exactly
if anyone has any tricks up his/her sleave please let me know
cause i'm going nuts and almost start to doubt myself while i know i'm right

so in the editor i make a 10 high spot of 3x6 cells which is a good rectangle shape
so i make a decal sized 128x64 (effectively the real decal itself is 124x62) which is exactly the same forn of rectangle
so in the editor i try to fit the decal into the cells
no matter what i do the width is fine but the length of the decal is too short
how the hell is that even possible ?
maybe some big guy from reclic can explain me that ?
because i don't get it
that goes against any form of logic i have ever heard of
also for these kind of decals to work they have to be based of shapes like 64x64 and 64x128 and so on
or else in case of cross section stuff just won't fit
so what the hell is going on here ? Relic ?

no offense guys
bit this is nust and i just gave up the whole thing
i can't make heads or tails of this
goo dluck with the decals and see if you can do anythign with them
they look ok but using them is a bust
i guess the map editor or game wasn't ment for the very exact and restrictive nature of Space Hulk maps anyway but i didn't anticipate it would be this hard
i really can't get anything done
