Hi All,

Sulphur has released the final version of his "penesound" program. This integrates BNK, VCE, and WXD extraction into a single program, but is simply for extractive purposes and can't be used to edit the said files (a la HWSS)

Try it out and comment here. I'll direct him to this thread :)

Get it from: http://www.a-fluffy.demon.co.uk/homeworld/utilities/penesound.zip

Delphy

Delphy: thank you for starting this thread for me.

All: i'm planning another program that can change the homeworld ingame musics, allows you ADD you own music, and use it in your own multi-player missions. Mmm, but just planning it, far away from releasing it.

Sulphur,

Might not be worth it for you to do this - TheMamboMan is already writing this functionality into the HWSS program as far as I can recall.

Doesn't stop you trying though :)

Agreed... let mamboman finish his HWSS, and take a much deserved break after finishing your project here :) Looks like a keeper, nice work on it Sulphur! I wont have to keep posting those links to the HW:C extracted/corrected music files I did many moons ago;)

...oh heck... just for old times... ;) http://www.strategyplanet.com/homeworld/hwbattleship/catamusic.html
Strategyplanet didn't like us hosting big files there anyways.

Again, excellent work Sulphur.

Mmmm, i've checked mambo's HWSS, Really EXCELLENT work! i was keep preparing the exams those days, so i didnt know his HWSS, i've a lot of things need to be learnt and need to be done... HWSS is REAL EXCELLENT WORK!!:) :) :)
I think the best point of my decoder is it can play the sound automatically, you dont need to extract it your self, my decoder can control Winamp. The other thing is it can extract the HW:C sounds correctly. (Actually, there is nothing can be proud, it's a easy work, just change the codec bitrates when extracting...)
However i really very glad to see you think my decoder is a good one.:) :)

Fear not, I'm still working on HWSS. I ran into a problem when trying to allow the ability to build completely new music and sfx files instead of just editing existing ones. It was due to using older code. Stupid me.

Did anyone have a chance to try my standalone VCEPacker voice/speech replacement program?

Still working on it. I've made it a bit more complicated than it should be, so I'm unravelling some knots I made.

In the meantime, I'm working on a very simplified soundfx changer for you guys. It'll be done first. It will be a barebones program to build a custom BNK file so you can have something ready until the main program is ready.

The main program will let you either build new or edit existing BNK files. Also, the big program will let you define new sound types (events in the lut files), so you can have more sound weapons effects and also (as a side benefit) new graphic effects. Imagine, you make 20-30 new sound types in the gunevents.LUT file, then, you can assign each side 10-15 sounds each, and each one of those can have its own, unique EBG effect.

No more of this "both sides having ION cannons and such". Each side will have a different technological feel to it. VERY COOL STUFF.

Anyway, I'm using this opportunity (making the standalone, simple soundfx editor) to learn VB.NET. Wow, lots of changes internally!
