Not sure if this has been posted before...

Quite often, I start a game and half the sounds are missing. The unit acknowledgements are there, but the sounds that tell me when a building is finished, or an upgrade has finished, or a unit has been built are all missing. This usually fixes itself in the next game I play, but it's a huge disadvantage in the games it happens in, as I need to watch everything I'm doing rather than just relying on the sounds to tell me when things are happening. I can't get a solid repro on it, it just seems to happen randomly.

This needs to be fixed.

I have a Sound Blaster Live! with the latest drivers, XP SP2.

Usually when the workload is very high some sounds and graphic FX get chopped. I only had sound go nearly dead on me once, when playing on a Net Cafe LAN and I had to restart. My home computer never had such a big problem. Only minor ones having to do with high load. Which is further agrevated with my using a camera zoom mod and having an old GF4MX, even low settings aren't perfectly smooth all the time.

I dont know if this is related to the problem you are having or not but when i am playing and it seams to be totally random as far as i can tell a unit speaks either in game or even in Briefing at mission starts i get this loud buzzing sound that stops all speach mid sentence and a;ll the background sound is stopped as well.

As stated before it coul be system load but i highly dount that any game coul max this system less you multi task a ton at the same time.

System specs while this may not be relevent at all i think i might note what i have to help troubleshooting and patch resolution. SYS specs: AMD Athlon64-FX (939) Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS My speakers are anolog wich means that the output is anolog only not digital 2GB of Corsair high end ram. Under Win XP SP2 with all windows updates.

Tsunamisan, I get the same thing. It seems to be random, but once in awhile I will get this rather odd audio "noise" from my speakers replacing all audio in the game. It will eventually go away, however. If you find out any information on this issue please post it.

Specs: Win XP SP2; AMD 64 3200+ 939 (using on board audio - analog); Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe; 1GB PC3200; Nvidia 6800 GT PCI-E. All are using updated drivers.
