Today on Attack of the Show on G4,They got an interview with Tim Miller and Jeff Fowler co-founders of Blur Studio and they mentioned that they are doing a cinematic for Company of Heroes.
So, from the people who gave us the amazing Dawn of War intro sequence will be doing a Cinematic(maybe there will be more then one)for Relic's new upcoming title "Company of Heroes".
great :)
I assume thats all they said - no hints as to the style of the movie or such?

wow I made it to .:Relicnews:., by the way when the blur guys said that they are doing the cinematic for CoH was because Sarah Lane(one of the hosts) asked them about E3 and they mentioned a whole bunch of games that they are doing cinematics for and that you will be seeing their work across E3. Infact to quote one of the guys...
"We have so much sh...stuff to show this year"
So maybe the we will see the cinematic(s?) at E3.
Can you remember what other games they mentioned? It seems likely that Winter Assault will feature at least one more example of their work...but it has yet to be confirmed.
Can't wait to see the Axe-wielding Germans :D :p

Blur Studios is working on the opening cinematic for Hellgate: London developed by Flagship Studios (Bill Roper's new company after leaving Blizzard). This was mentioned in a game mag not on the show though.

Acthuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuung! instead of Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh?
BTW, I'm really curios to see this new intro, I just hope it's not the usual "D-Day movie", though it's the easiest to do, script-wise (technically...ah yes, millions of bullets splashing in water...yes, I can already hear the animators/sfx guys committing suicide ^^)

Well if the game starts with Normandy, then the cinematic will likely focus on something like a Saving Private Ryan Omaha Beach style scene, or something involving the pre-invasion paradrops.

actualy soulblighter thedid mention hellgate:london on they show but I can't remeber the other games they mentioned, I guess I'll have to wait for a re-run of that episode.I also hope that their is going to be a cinematic from blur for Winter Assault since they didn't mention it at all :(.
I haven't commited an act of cruelty recently, so here it goes. If you thought the DoW Intro was kick ass, just wait for the CoH intro. OMFG!!!

uber sux y+. But he's still cool. :)
Tranj, the community really appreciated seeing the DoW cinematic in advance - any chance for a ditto on CoH's pre-release?

I get the feeling that when this intro is released to the public that I will once more lose a week of my life to watching it over and over and over again.
Yet I can't decide wether that's a bad thing or not.

the intro is a superb marketing tool as the DoW Demo showed.

i'd like too see the WA cinematic!
btw Blur kicks ass, so the CoH cinematic simply has to rock!
show the DoW, WA and CoH movies in cinemas and in TV commercials and you'll crush HALO2's selling record ;)

Agreed.
Blur animations are very much Film-Material.
Show a few seconds of the intro (or the full thing, for that matter), and people who don't even like RTS games will be drooling and convulsing in the aisles.
Actually, they're more likely to believe that the intro is for a movie instead of a game. :D
Seriously though. CoH MUST have its blur intro shown in theatres or on television. Either or. Sales will skyrocket if you show a game that awesome to your average gamers who don't bother reading gaming mags or searching for games on the 'net.

even gamers who read mags and search the net would buy the game, because the mags only favor the game and such an intro will hook most of the gamers to buy it.

Of course they would. It would be sold by friendly notions, awesome reviews/previews, and word-of-mouth.
The Intro in threatres and on Television would only clinch it and make even average gamers obsessive-compulsive Relic Fanboys/girls.
You know what I just pictured? The Relic Devs strolling out of their office building and being mobbed my big-breasted obsessed teenaged girls wanting them to sign various body parts.
Oh God, that's going to stick with me for a long, long time. A whole five minutes, at least. :D
