If you check out EBWorld (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/257499.asp) it states the game ships on 09/19/2005.

The wording of the document important. The statement doesn't mean the game is available on that day. It means the game will go out on to the stores that day.

It could well mean the game would be shipping from the EB warehouses to the stores. Depending on the distance from the distribution centres to the retailers, some stores may get the game later.

In my experience the release date has been the same date that the game is in the store.

If it was when the game shipped from production, then how would people know when it's actually in store? It would be a useless bit of knowledge. It doesn't make any sense, and hasn't historically been the case for me.

I'd bet that EB is referring to their warehouses.

Lot's of misinformation in Germany/Austria
Some pages say between 15th and 16th sept.
amazon says 30th sept.
some pages say the gold is released earlier, others say later.

But the release date is not my major problem.
I got the UK version in Austria from a special retailer who sales WA for about 36€ ~ 40$, the German Gold Edition would only cost 26€.

I hate this problem with different Language Versions. I want a UK GoldVersion in Austria for about 35€.
The German translation of DoW is ... awful.

To above: I would expect it to have the same spec requirements as the original... although they might be slightly higher as they said they were improving the way the terrain 'looks and feels' on the game. However, im sure there would be an option to turn off any unwanted improvements.

Sites such as www.gamehead.com.au list the pre-order release as the 30th of September, refering to my wonderful calender that is a Friday so the game won't probably get to you if you order it there till about the 4 October if you live far from Brisbane like me.

I am toying with the idea of getting my friend in the states to priority ship me a copy in which case I will get it a little earlier probably by about the 26th of September. At a large increase in cost...

But yeah if anyone knows for a better way of getting it in Australia speak now!

A lot of it depends on how far away from the closest distribution center each individual store is. They get the games in via UPS from there. Note also Holidays and weekends will slow delivery as well.

I love how most of you are jumping to the conclusion that "OMG, its gonna be delayed!!1oneoneone11". I don't really have any sympathy for america buyers, coming from the UK and all, you get most games 3-4 weeks before mainland UK and europe. So suck it up if you have to wait to the 23rd. :bigwave:

On another note, sites don't update at weekends, so you won't see any updated advertisement for WA to monday. As it works in the UK, the shops don't recieve there stock to either the day before, or on the morning of the actual release day.

So lets go over this, Release day = when its on shelves. Shipping day = when its being mass distributed to the shops.

Whoever was doing the shipping for Relic messed up badly, and the game wasn't sent out to retail locations by 2nd day air as it was supposed to be. This likely includes Amazon etc. EB swears up and down that they'll have it tomorrow, but I'm skeptical.
