There are 4 steps to this process
I don't have a camera at the moment so you'll have to bear with me

1. A black undercoat (no matter what color light or dark)
2. Heavily drybrush your cape color
3. Lightly drybrush a lighter version of the cape color
4. Very Very lightly drybrush white over everything
Red Cape
Undercoat: Black (as always)
1st Coat: Red Gore (H. Drybrush)
2nd Coat: Blood Red (L. Drybrush)
3rd Coat: White (V.V.L. Drybrush)

White Cape
Undercoat: Black
1st Coat: Codex Grey
2nd Coat: White
3 coat : no need

Green Cape >>(experiment at own risk)<<
I say this because i have never tried it ^
UnderCoat: Black
1st Coat: Dark Angels Green (i think thats wut its called)
2nd Coat: Scorpion Green
3rd Coat: White

It sounds good... although the dryburshing will make for a very rough highlight... but if thats what your looking for, go ahead. I use the very same technique for making guardsmen clothing... and it looks like they just jumped out of a toxic waste dump.(which is of course what im looking for)

ohhh.
i have a way for Bleached bone capes
1.undercoat black
2.paint whole cape Snakebite Leather
3.50/50 mix of SB Leather and Desert yellow on everything but the deep creaves
4.paint desert yellow over everything ecept deep and semi deep creaves
5.heavily drybrush 50/50 mix of Desert yellow and Bleached bone.
6.paint over the whole thing with a watered down Bleached bone.

this is for TT quality capes not golden demon quality

I usually paint red capes
But i don't use blood red
I use a red paint not from GW
it goes on nyce and dries even nicer:):):):)

I find it looks better than doing it the hard way

yeah but when you are painting tons of them i prefer to dry brush instead of shade. it is faster for a decent TT finish
