Recently, my system has been operating with two videocards...the installed GeForce 2 Ti, and a simulated one called a Nvidia DualView, that runs from the GeForce.
Since this DualView thing was installed, I've been unable to run Homeworld with OpenGL, or any other OpenGL applications at all.
I don't run with two monitors, and I can't remove the thing...any of you think you can help me?

Why can't you remove the Dual View app?
Can you post a more detailed system spec?

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1,4 Ghz
Memory: 256 Mb DDR
Motherboard: MSI K7 Master
Primary Video Card: Gainward GeForce 2 Ti Detonator 30.82
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Live! Player 1024
CDRom Drives: Creative DVD12x\40x
Additional Hardware: networking card, other bare essentials ;)
Operating System and Version: Win2k 5.0 SP3
Direct X version: 8.1
Homeworld video mode and resolution: 1024*768 D3D (OpenGL when it works!)
Desktop video mode and resoultion: 1024*768*32
Homeworld Version: 1.05
The Dualview is not an app. It registers as a video card in my device manager. If I remove it from the list, it just reinstalls itself automatically when I boot the machine. The properties of the dualview says it's located on the Geforce2...

Ahhhh yes... windows 2000... you might have trouble getting OpenGL to work with it. It originally didn't work with Homeworld.
Right click on the Homeworld shortcut and choose Properties. Go to the compatibility tab, and select windows nt 4.0 SP5. That *might* allow you to pick OpenGL in the game.
My XP System is a Ti4200, and it detects the second video out, but I can still game with no problems.

Sorry 'bout this being late, bute...what compatability tab? the only taps on my shortcut properties are "general" and "shortcut" so I'm kinda stuck there...

Windows 200 hasn't got a compactibility mode uber...
Only XP has compactibility modes for 95, 98ME, 2000 and NT as far as I know... Anyway, it could be the menu. Maybe if you right click on the homeworld.exe file in explorer, then it might be an option... if 2000 has that option... :dolt:
Anyway compactibility is not the main problem...
Read this from Nvidia (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=IO_20011119_6349)
Hope this will answer it., your problem :rage:

Dark Axel:
Yes it does. Starting in Service Pack 2, compatibility mode is available.
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;279792 for more detail.
The method they go through to activate it I don't think you actually have to do, when I patched it in, it was immediately available. So make sure you're on Service Pack 2 or 3 and then look for it logged on as Administrator.
As for that Nvidia fix, IIRC, Homeworld works fine in OpenGL with two monitors. I've got a dual rig setup at home, and OpenGL is my standard graphics mode (but then I'm using WinXP).

Thanks Über...that compatability thing did it, once I removed the DualView by formatting my c:\ drive :D

I ave a dual monitor rig as well with a gforce 4 ti 4200 :)
Whenever i play cata or homeworld the game runs on the primary monitor while the second monitor just shows the desktop.
Is there a way i can make cata or/and homeworld run on both monitors?

That should be awesome, running the research and buildings manager at one monitor, while still ordering your units and keeping an eye on the battle :D
Maybe a good thing for HomeWorld 2?
(sorry about my bad english, im dutch)

I keep bugging Mecha...
"Please make it so that HW2 runs on both monitors K? Thanks!"
He usually ignores me or just shoots me a dirty look.
