*edit* if you dont feel like reading zoom down to my second post and youll get the info in a nutshell

Now im really not much of a good modder I’m better at storywriting. This was my idea 2 days ago and has evolved as such... this army is not a warhammer 40k army its something I thought up.

Ok this is the fluff

On the eastern fringe in a system called Artas ( art-as ) the imperium sent a few colonization fleets to colonize the 7 planets of the system Arta 1-7. Most of the planets were peaceful colonization’s but one planet Arta 3 a extremely dangerous deathworld (which is consider worse then Catachan) ran into issues with the plant life but actually very little with the animal life. The plants of the jungles were massive around the rivers and lakes but more farther away from any water were smaller. This confused the colonist but they thought little of it at the time. And the animals they noticed also were rare but seemed to be very old when found and all were battle-scarred animals from old rivalries with plants and other animals. Again this was also basically ignored. The Colonist managed to set up a few walled in cities and they were rather successful. In mining operations they discovered the planet was full of rich materials of every sort. While the people of Arta 3 started to relax in their riches and walled in cities safe from the jungle trouble stirred not far away in the stars. This system being recently colonized was not very well protected just a few cruisers and a regiment of the imperial guard on each planet.

The attack

Then the Tau fleet attacked the system so they could add it to there empire. The tau conquered 6 of the planets easily but Arta 3 was proving to be difficult. The Tau was not used to this kind of death world fighting and the Tau and the Guard lost more to local plant life then to actually killing each other. The regiment of guards that fought was eventually nicknamed the Spartans. But unfortaintly for the Guard they were outnumbered out gunned and the Tau control the air and the space around the planet. Eventually the Guard surrendered to the tau when surrounded around the Planets main city Corvena (named after the lead colonist that founded the city Varel Corvena) And with only a company of men left and constant bombardment from land, air and space the Spartans were forced to give up. After all the fighting the Spartans did the tau spared them and honored them as great warriors and asked them to join the Taus ranks in guarding this planet. The Spartans seeing no other choice joined them but they were never asked to fight just to guard Arta 3.

Aftermath

The fresh water supply the colonist brought with them started to run out and they were either forced to wait for Tau to bring more or risk the jungle and get more from were all the plants are much bigger and more dangerous. The colonist armed with lasguns and everything they could get there hands on left the city and journeyed to the river a few miles away. They had to kill many a plant that seemed harmless until it attacked. Many people died from anything imaginable. Plant vines were not really plant vines but really more like a hanging trap that grabbed you and pulled you up to its mouth up in the trees. And always the colonist felt that there were animals watching them from behind the trees. Finally when the colonist reached the river all of them drank deeply of the water for they thought the hard ship was over and celebrated. Once the colonist figured out where they were, they started the task of burning and clearing out the jungle they had just passed through ( they didn’t have time to do this before because the water would have run out by the time they got to the river so they had to risk the jungle ). But that night while they were resting half the colonist became very sick. While the others watched in horror as a full half of their number became sick and died for no apparent reason. The survivors buried the dead but for some reason didn’t care about the dead even the sons and daughters didn’t care that there mom or dad died. The apparent lack for care of the dead horrified them because they new they should be feeling something. Then some of the other colonist after a few days seemed a bit smarter and stronger then before. The older colonist didn’t seem so old any more they were full of energy and alive again like when they were 25 years old. When they returned to the cities and told there story to the Tau, the Tau were Horrified about this they knew something was wrong was very wrong. The veterans that served in the Regiment called Spartan soon devised a rebellion against the Tau.

The Fight

While the Tau were not accustomed to surviving in the death world’s heavy jungle fighting with its plants. The Humans (newly renamed the Spartans in honor of that Regiment that fought till it couldn’t fight no more) Were smarter, stronger, the old now like young people could fight just as hard, and they were extremely aware of their surroundings when in the jungle they were like the common animals of the jungle they could see everything going on around them including the plant life’s traps. The Spartans managed to throw the Tau off the planet. The Tau were frightened of this new enemy and did not invade the planet planet, but blockaded the planet so no one could leave it and enter it. The Spartans aware of this started building up many batteries of artillery that could shoot into the space around the planet.

The new people

A few months latter it was discovered that the babies were always coming out as double. Always twins and if she would have twins normally she had quadruplets. But then it was latter discovered that after the babies tasted the water 3 out of 4 times one of the twins would die. The Spartans wary of the water now tested it and it was discovered there was a virus in it that doubled the amount of offspring in every animal including humans. But the virus doesn’t spread to the offspring so the offspring have to taste the water to get it themselves. But it killed 1/2of the offspring 3 out of 4 times. This was the reason why the Spartans didn’t care about the dead the virus made them not because they would loose offspring to it and they had to deal with it. The virus also extended brain usage ( the virus didn’t make them smarter it made them think more ) and it extended the life of everything that catches it ( explains why the plants were bigger near the water ) and makes them younger longer as well ( why the old people felt like they were 25 ) the Spartans no longer dying at 80 or 90 or 100 discovered that the virus extended life for about twice as long ( so they died at 160, 180, 200 ) and they matured like normal humans in about 20 years but they were only old for 10 years before death. The Spartans now having double offspring and everyone living longer and younger soon became over populated on their planet. The planet being very rich in every kind of material made it a perfect candidate for a very war like society. Soon the Spartans changed their society into a socialist society. They eliminated money and the men all trained to be soldiers from a young age and took care of the house work and the babies while the women did everything else ( big switch huh but sense the men have to be soldiers they cant be working in a factory now can they so they stuck close to home )

The conquest

The Spartan army being as big as it was with very well trained survivors in every situation attacked the Tau Fleet around the Spartan planet and managed to break through the blockade and decimate the Tau Fleet. The Spartans new fleet ( which was built on the ground ) was small but very good at what it did and now veterans. Continued to take over the other 6 planets with lightening attacks of small but highly skilled and coordinated groups of tanks, Infantry, Aircraft and of course star ships. Only then did the Spartans rename Arta 3, Sparta. The Spartans now had a choice to make to stay in there system and attack the Tau's other systems or the Imperiums of man. They considered rejoining the Imperium but decided no, the reason was they didn’t like taking orders from a Emperor and the Imperials would consider them mutants and cleanse them all even though the benefit of longer life and younger life outweighed the dying part. So the Spartans formed the Spartan Empire and began building a fleet for another conquest.

This is a list of units I thought up

Auxilere ( cant spell it but its Latin) - basic infantry squad of normal humans from the planets the Spartans conquered in the system Artas, as the Spartans discovered the virus didn’t react well to the waters on these planets and thus abandoned putting the virus on any planet but there own.

10 man squad with an average range, average damage, with an average rate of fire (burst fire) with low health but good armor. Good against other basic infantry

Upgrades

Rifle - All ten men can be armed with a one shot rifle that’s long range, very powerful and very accurate, but slow firing ( good against heavy infantry weak against vehicles and light infantry because it shoots to slow and cant take down an entire squad of basics fast enough )

Rockets - only 3 men can be armed with rockets which is similar to the rifle except good against tanks and can blow back infantry of course but really nothing more. And goes well with the other 7 men with rifles.

Submachinegun - can arm all ten with this. This is a extremely fast firing, very weak damage, short range, its good against infantry but weak against heavy infantry because if fires pistol rounds like all submachineguns. Basically a close combat weapon that you charge with to attack enemy infantry.

Powersword- can arm 3 people like the rocket launcher. It’s very good against all infantry including heavy. It’s not good for taking out vehicles that’s not its job. It gives the unit a powersword and a pistol to go with it. Best used when the other 7 have submachineguns.

All Spartan infantry are good at close combat they are all armed with swords (yes swords not daggers, swords) on there back but this is last ditch unless your a submachinegun unit with 3 powerswords

Immortal - this is a Spartan squad leader (for all squads). He is good in all accounts but has no abilities to add to the squad. He is basically a powerful unit. He is from the planet Sparta and is armed with an assault rifle and an axe on his back. This assault rifle is powerful, medium range and extremely fast firing like a submachine gun and is good against everything except vehicles.


Spartan Warriors - These are the very well trained troops from Sparta. They are the are not the back bone though there aren’t many of them considering the 30 years of training ( that isn’t always intense there are relax times ) they are all very good shots they are all basically their own commander in that they are trained for every possible situation and are also taught how to be a leader if the need be (involves the veteran system, explain latter on).

( I can’t decide how many to put in a squad and they do get the immortal as a leader ) They have good armor, good health. They are armed with an assault rifle that is good damage, medium range with an average firing rate( burst fire ), extremely accurate. Good against all infantry types in all tiers (tier 2 unit)

Upgrades -

Clip drum - can be added to the entire squad at a high cost for it makes them shoot really fast. As it is baisicly a giant clip of ammo made round and flat for more ammo but allot less accurate. ( for the more elite units in tier 3 )

Heavy Machinegun - ( sense IM undecided on number of squad I dot know how many of these to a squad ) a high rate of fire that’s accurate and is powerful.

Rocket launcher ( same as above with number ) Like any rocket launcher and is of course good against vehicles and has splash damage on infantry if fired into a group of them.

Immortals - immortals are very good infantry. They are generally older warriors that are very experienced. Sense the immortals are Elite’s they are treated like gods from every soldier they meet and they expect no less because the only man higher up on the hierarchy of the Spartan army is the General himself. They are higher up from the Immortals that lead squads because of the veteran system ( hold on ill tell you ).

Immortals are limited to 1 squad sense they are rare in number. There are 6 immortals in a squad and they are good in all things. They have Anti tank grenade launchers on there assault rifles and they are heavily armored and have extremely good health like a chaos obil in abilities like handling any situation thrown at them. To get the Immortals you need the research Veteran system ( will tell you soon ) they already come with drum clips but are more accurate then the Spartan warriors with it.

Veteran system - the Spartan army basically has two systems of ranks the normal ranks and the veteran system. Immortals were involved in the system but filled out their veteran system and became Immortals. The system is basically a record that keeps what you have done in battle and what you’ve killed and what you’ve done. If you do all the things on the list you become an immortal ( which takes a very long time ) No matter what rank you are private, captain whatever you become an immortal but you don’t instantly join immortal squads you have to prove your worth as an immortal and lead squads of troops into battle which many an immortal never gets past because it requires you to be basically immortal to complete (its that hard to get past squad lead).

What the veteran system upgrade does - it effects all Spartan squads and enables you to build an immortal squad and then benefits that squad. What it does is whenever one of your squads effected kill a enemy squad of say guardsmen that squad becomes better at killing guardsmen so the squad is more effective to whatever its killed before ( this makes it so the player doesn’t throw away squads and pulls out if too many are dying and also prompt enemy players to be more aggressive in the beginning so the Spartan player doesn’t get the veteran system research) and if that squads killed vehicles before it can kill vehicles even better. But this research does not effect the squad when they kill enemy buildings.
This is researched in the Spartan barracks in tier 3 or 4 (some tier)

I think ive written enough for the moment this took a really long time to write ( 3 hours ) the Spartan vehicles can be made up more easily and can be generic.

o and the spartans dont believe in any god but themselves they believe that every human should either join them or die

ok heres what im going to do in a nutshell.

I created an army i have a look i want i know what kind of units its going to be based mainly on.

Im going to start modding maps and put space marines in them to test them first sence the winter assult mod tools arnt out i cant edit the imperial gaurd to be differant and then seperate them into two armies.

Im going to write for a campain and then make maps for it then when the tools are out ill make the army itself

of course i would like help on this but i will start on my own and if need be finish it on my own.

I have a list of the buildings which i may update in the future
i will latter add the list of units

Buildings

Forward Command - builds the builder unit and the scout unit
can be upgraded for tier 2 ( called Battle Command ) then can be upgraded for tier 3 ( called Main Attack Command )
the main building starts out as a group of tents with the Spartan Transport as a part of it. (The transport is unusable but the main building can be moved if like you get rushed then you can run away with it as a vehicle and then turn it into the building again)
as you go through the tiers the building becomes more permanent as an actual structure.

Tier 1

Reinforcement Depot - Builds the infantry units which in tier one is also a moveable building but afterwards is immovable in latter tiers

Ammo Depot - Like the imperial guard and space marines this is required to get upgrades to units and also contains researches to upgrade the units

Bunker - Basic defense structure
Starts as a useless structure
In tier one it doesn’t get any of its own defenses just when units garrison they can shoot out of it
In tier two it can be upgraded with a machinegun turret on the top that has 4 machineguns on it
Then it can be upgraded with rocket infantry. Which shoot out of it and take no pop
Tier 3 no upgrades

Outpost - similar to all outpost upgraded in tier 2 and then tier 3 with weapons

Energy Supply - PowerPoint building that supplies power and of course there is the bigger power plant

Tier 2

Vehicle Command - Builds the vehicles which more vehicles will be available to in tier 3

Command Barracks - this is where you buy all the Spartan command units and the medical unit, and the Immortals

Tier 3

This building and its units are an idea that may not me included but its i like the idea

Artillery Command - This is where you can build artillery pieces like field guns. this will of course come will require a third pop besides infantry and tanks this new pop is the artillery

Artillery

Sense the Spartan Infantry are defensive
and the vehicles are going to be fast and have good guns but they sacrifice armor for speed so the tanks are not good for defending
So the artillery seemed like a good idea. They don’t move fast but are worth something in defense

The list of units

Engineer – the builder unit of course

Hunter Squad – scouting unit built in the HQ. 1 pop 4 men

Auxilere – Tier 1 unit. basic infantry built in the barracks, made for defense because they have good armor but low health average range, average damage, average firing rate (burst fire). 2 pop 10 men
Can be upgraded with different weapons to make new type of sqauds (rifle squad, close quarters squad)

Spartan Warriors – Tier 2 unit. Good armor, average health, good damage average range, average firing rate (burst fire). 2 pop 8 men
Can be upgraded to be better

Immortals – Tier 3 elite unit. Excellent in all areas but can only have 1 squad of them. 4 pop 6 men
Requires a Relic built in the Command Barracks

Mortar Squad – Tier 2 unit. It’s an infantry artillery unit. Medium range average damage. 2 pop 6 men ( 2 mortars with 4 on them and 2 men as guards)
This will be an experimental unit that will be tested first before I decide to put it in the mod


This is the list of Spartan tanks although they call them Barrels instead of Tanks


Armored Truck – Tier 2 unit. The Spartan transport vehicle with one machinegun on the top. Pop 1

Assault Barrel – Tier 2 unit. A fast moving lightly armored tank that is armed with 4 machineguns on the turret and a machinegun on the front. Designed for killing swarms of infantry while on the move. 2 pop

Strike Barrel – Tier 2 unit. Also a fast moving and lightly armored but balanced for enemy vehicles and enemy infantry. Armed with a standard cannon with a forward facing machine gun on the hull and another one next to the cannon. 2 pop

Hell Gun Barrel – Tier 3 unit. A tank with a big gun on a big turret its slower then the other Spartan tanks but its still a good speed tank with medium armor and good damage against enemy tanks. Shells are explosive so they throw infantry around and it is armed with a frontal machinegun like all Spartan tanks. 3 pop


These units are an idea and may not be implemented – artillery
All crews of the artillery can be killed in close combat and if shot up from the flanks or rear (crew can be replaced like regular infantry) all Tier 3 units and have their own pop


Razor Gun – A field artillery piece that is moved about by an automatically attached armored truck (the truck takes no pop) the gun fires quickly but its explosions are small and has an average damage, good range. Pop 2

Anti-Barrel Gun – self-explanatory good at killing tanks, also is moved around by an armored truck. Average rate of fire, good damage, good range, unless infantry hit directly by a shell it does no damage to them (armor piercing shells only) pop 2

Red Gun – a long-range artillery piece that is used for bombarding enemy positions. Long range, average damage, low firing rate pop 3

Command units and researches will be put out latter

Just a quick question about this mod..........would it have anything to do with the Sons of sparta the mod i started and not yet had the know how to finish

a race of SM that was said to be born of the Gods, whilst this chapter was in it's most early age they found them selves drawn to the dark ages and learnt of a Mother land called the Sparta......this new found knowledge intrigue them so much they thought them selves of this land thus the Sons of sparta was born..... after more then 10,000 years they managed to find nearly every plast peice of infomation that was not damaged and from this infomation they knew that this mother land gave birth to a tribe of people that was famouse for there grand wars and victory's and this impressed them to a ponit that they then turned to science to learn how they could improve on the weapons and armor that the chapter had at there disposel and after a a time of which was not recoreded the Sons of sparta steped on to the battle field with an arsnel and skill to chalange even the four early chapters

ah theres the differance these guys are not space marines and are not like them at all, they are humans who are brutal soldiers who believe in no gods. the only belief they have is that all humans should submit to them or become spartan by drinking planet Sparta's water (which is tainted by a deadly virus which either makes you live longer and younger or kills you half and half chance for either)

so instead of space marines they are an oposing human army

lol SM with a moe hawk watch out people his stick is real pointy. well thatt was a fun stroy i'd say this would fit catachan juungle fighters nicely so guys in singlets and camo pants with red banndana or something.

no no thats not part of my mod thats part of another mod with a similar name. my mod is with normal sized humans (similar to the catachan only more armor and im not going to throw in red as a starderd color)

so do they look like humies or not ur confusing me? and if u play catachan in TT then scan the models then animate them easy as 4 the red im not that big on it either.

the above space marine is not my model and is not involved in this mod as my army is not going to invole sm.

the spartans are human. they are normal in height and apperance and they are not going to look like catachan.

once winter assult tools are out im going to use the gaurds and then completely remodel the infantry and everything else as a new army.

although im not a modeler i could learn (i could use some help quite frankly to be honest)

That's right, Moe. A mod needs to be all Warhammer 40,000 or no Warhammer 40,000 (a Total Conversion). So, if you managed to obtain the rights to another universe, setting, character (or created your own), then you'd be fine to create a TC with them
