Not sure if this has been covered before, but I searched a while back and couldn't find it. On IRC someone claimed that Stripe had never gotten HW running on Win2k, so I've decided to post what I know:

If you install HW 'out of the box' (no patches) and without updating directx, it won't run. Update directX to at least 8.0a, and patch HW to 1.05, and it should be able to run fine in Direct3D mode. OpenGL doesn't work; if anyone knows a fix I'd appreciate it, as OGL looks smoother and performs better on nVidia cards.

As far as I know noone has ever been able to get Homeworld to run in OpenGL on Windows 2000. If I am incorrect someone please feel free to jump in and say so to let us all know how.

As far as I know this is a flaw of HW's implementation of opengl (insert variation of the same meaning here). Once again, 1.06 will fix this...........

:ninja: i was wondering about that, i have never been able to run opengl in homeworl since i went with win 2k, i upgraded to a geforce 3 at the same time so i thought the engine didn't like the geforce 3 but from what you guys are saying here, it seems to be the OS thats the probelm, can't wait for the 1.06 patch now :)
