So, I'm putting my giant project (a huge 4v4 map at 512x512... very cool so far) on hold for a bit, as its just so slow coming.

So what now?

I'm looking into beginning a 3p FFA map... The thing is, is I need an idea for layout. I've been tossing around a few ideas in my head, but I know I want it to be Urban.

See, the beauty behind odd numbered player maps, is it eliminates symmetry in the map, making for a much more interesting creation., Furthermore, I want to stray away from the standard layout for 3FFA..
1
2 3

What I'm leaning more towards is something along the lines of

1
-------
| 2
-------
3

Where the lines are impassable boundries.
Thoughts? Will anyone actually use this if I make it?
I mean... that is besides my gaming group (who too often are comprised of three players instead of the ideal 4 for Sangivino Canyon :))

Just try to keep it as balanced as possible .. for sure 3 player maps are always a difficult task cause 1 player can be doubled by 2.

So you have the possiblities to make doubling as difficult as possible.

1) coral reef is a good example -> it is possible to double a player but only over very long narrow pathes

2) My map "Lost paradise" tries to prevent doubling by combining 2 paths to 1 the more you came near one player (or doubling is only possible with jump troops)

Play around and test it against computer

PS: i don't know if doubling is really a valid word .. but i hope you know what i mean :) (2 player attack 1 at same time)

what about a scrapheap the players sart in build areas and out side of those there is lots of paths surrounding piles of scrap and all the relics\stratigic and critical points are in the scrapheap like the scrapheap challenge scrapheap
