View Full Version : May I introduce myself ?

Hello, everyone.

As you can clearly see, I'm quite new here. ;)

However, I'm not new to discussion forums in general, so I know what kind of posting rules are generally used.

New to me is, that Newbies are encouraged to introduce themselves; this is the fist Forum where I experience this.

In my "Homeforum" - a forum with a roleplaying community - we haven't had such a thing this far; but reading what there is to read (FAQ, posting guidelines and the stuff) I see that you might have your reasons.

I'm playing Homeworld not for long. I also have Cataclysm only since a few weeks, just looking into the Tutorial.

I consider Homeworld being a Gem under the games - in general, since I'm not generally a fan of the RTS genre. I like mostly RPG Games and Adventure.

At the age of ten or so, I got a book with pictures by Criss Foss as a birthday present. I was kind of amazed and struck by this strange beauty of these starships.

As I saw Homeworld for the first time, it was like a dream coming true. Finally I would be able to "play" with real starships which look like the ones drawn by Criss Foss ! It was amazing !

That's why I play and love Homeworld, although I'm not quite an RTS fan. (I play some round-based strategy games, too. Mainly both installents of the Age of Wonders series.)

It's a kind of exception for me.

Well, I've registered here in this forum although I could be silently reading, too, because I had some thoughts and ideas I wanted to share with you. They might be crap, but I thought posting different points of view might be good in a way.

I don't think I will write that much, for two reasons:

A) You have far more experience than I have, and
B) I'm still learning the game, it's controls and strategies and such.

Currently, I'm fond of playing in Multiplayer Mode - I alone against the AI (since I don't think I'm able to play online, with my old Modem, and I don't know friends in my neighbourhood who also have a PC and MP games). I like playing this way very much, and I think it's also a good way of learning some strategies (always having in mind that human opponents might react quite differently ;) ) .

Last Introducing Words: I have my own style of Writing: I tend to write everything beginning with a capital letter in english, like I would write in german. That's my way of emphasizing things, in general. I use it quite frequently.

I didn't post the location of my "Homeforum" so far, because I don't know whether this is wanted or not. It might be mistaken as spam, I thought, since this Forum belongs to a developing company of a RPG game.

MFG, Alrik Fassbauer.

Welcome and make yourself comfortable. Homeworld/Icreatures things are not all this place offers. General Discussions and Gallery are quite active in their own rights, and welcome anyone with either a good (polite and clear) argument or something creative to display.

Have fun!

Thanks. But I doubt that it would make much sense if I opened a new thread in the technical area calling "HELP ! I just wanted to eat a cookie - now my hard disk is ruined !"

I find that quite intresting, how on most forums "Users" seem to sometimes consider a new page a new discusion. As soon as the topic rolls over onto 2 pages it becomes a whole new topic. :)

Well anyways as you can see I'm also new but I felt I might as well say...

Welcome to the Forums.

As soon as the topic rolls over onto 2 pages it becomes a whole new topic.A strange attitude, I agree, especially since vBulletin allows people to have different page lengths. It may be the second page for Alrik, but it's still the first page for me...

Anyway, welcome to all the newcomers; hope you enjoy your stay.

Interesting. I have never ever used a feature to change my page length, so I didn't come to the thought it might be different to anyone ... :D

Well, learned something new. :D

And hello, Bertrum !
