View Full Version : Teamspeak observers

In the last game I played it turned out one of the observers was a friend of one of the players. They were both on TS and the observer was telling the other player what we were doing, where our infiltrated units were etc. the opponents were so abd they lost anyway. Anyone else had this problem?

I've heard of such things before, but there's really very little that can be done about them apart from disallowing spectators
yep heard of it... u wud be suprised how many clans ask for clan wars then say we are cheats because we wont let their fellow clan members observe... funny how they refuse a clan war coz their m8s cant watch.....
Yeah, I've been the victim of this before too...but like has been said, you can't do much about it, except disallow observers.
I know it's not fair on people who want to truly observe, but what can ya do? As a common rule, though, I keep away from any games that have a single observer slot in. It's awfully suspicious.
It's rather sad that some people have to resort to such low methods of cheating to win a game, though.

Pift the fraction of people who do this is below the fraction of people who dont. Most of the time there is very little such an observer can do except provide a chance to get a counter ahead of time.

Guild Wars has a great idea - they allow observers of matches. Matches are recorded and the observers are viewing 15 minutes behind the action - not live.

This happens an awful lot with clans. You'll often find that one of the clan will even use a smurf account so it isn't obvious that they are part of the same group.
It really can make a huge difference in a battle (hard teching for example gets stopped dead), so you're easily best off just not allowing observers. I tend to just tell people that my comp tends to crash when observers are on (bollocks, obviously, but they seem to buy it).

wow that is pretty sad if people are doing that, what pathetic lives they must lead. We have a ts server and allow observers occasionaly, but random peeps who want to learn and enjoy watching the game. Why you would go to all that effort just to win one game is pretty pathetic.

I make obs games all the time though... I open obs slots of I do 1v1s. Usually its a good way to meet people and a good way for some people to learn(like how I learned from watching white playin his orks).
I guess that kinda ruins the innocent fun for the rest of us... personally I enjoy seeing what the obs say in the replays and tellin us how we suck and that we are noobs :D

This can happen and the only way to be possibly stop this is to not allow observers. Fortunately this doesn't happen all that often.
That being said, I fail to see how this discussion would turn out anything different other than "man those guys doing this must suck". Hence the lock.
