I know there have been a lot of new boards lately but I thought I’d give this a try.

Basics:
This board war will be fought between five different races with three sides. Angels, Demons, half-bloods (angel and demon), and humans. The three sides are good evil and neutral. They are fighting in an American city, were a college student has unknowingly become the key to opening the gates to hell. The demons want to get the girl and open the gates, the angels are trying to protect the girl and stop the demons.

Races:
Angels- these beings are from a different plain of existence they have supernatural powers (these powers can be created by the players). They can not be harmed by normal means only demonic powers and items can harm them. They also can not kill humans or other angels, they also completely virtuous. They can only fight for the side of good.

Demons- pure evil, only holy powers and items can harm them. They have supernatural powers. They can not enter churches or other holy sites, and sunlight is irritating to most of them. They can only fight for the side of evil.

Half bloods- Half bloods can be either half human half demon or half human half angel. These beings have some supernatural power but this is limited, they have superhuman speed and agility. They have to rely more on weapons than angels and demons. They can die easier than full bloods. Half blood angels can kill humans, but it causes them to become physically sick. Half blood demons can enter holy sites and are not allergic to the sun, but both cause them some discomfort. Half bloods can fight for any side.

Humans- Humans can die just as easily as any human. They can have limited supernatural powers, they can also us unholy and holy objects to produce powers. Most must use blessed objects to fight demons and angels. They can fight for any side.

Sides:
Good- The side of the angels
Evil- Side of Demons
Neutral- individuals that do not care which side wins, they attack both the sides of good and evil.

NPC
There are going to be various non player characters in this game. These characters will be vital to the story and can be controlled by the other players to help with story development. There will also be hundreds of lower level demons and angels that will break free from their homes and roam about the city. Feel free to create low level NPC.

Map:
A giant American city by the name of Bashor City the city is in hard times. The vast majority of citizens are poor. Like I said the city is very large and complex so it would be to hard to complete a drawing of it. But everything that is in a large city is in this city. The players have the right to create places of interest to help with the story.

Back story:
The Grail of the Saint has been in the collection at the Bashor City museum since the late 1800s . A young college student by the name of Kelly Marks has a theory that the Grail holds a great secret, and has recently been given permission to do research on the object. What she does not know is that she is about to unlock something that will change her life forever. Demons and Angels will flood to the city. The Angels to protect the girl from demons and to kill the demons off. The Demons want the girl, and want the angels dead.

The board will start when I post the first section of story this will explain what all is going on. I will also introduce some NPCs soon.

If your character dies you can be reborn. Angels and Demons are reborn scarred from their death and slightly weaker. Humans and halfbreeds are reborn as Either demons or angels depending on what side they were fighting for.

Name: Dante Starr
Gender: Male
Race: Half-Demon
Side: Evil
Apperance: Derrick looks like a normal 19 year old kid, well he would at least if he didn't have a pair of 8 foot leather wings sprouting from his back. Gigantic red wings are the only sign that he is a half-blood demon. He has black hair that hangs lank over his face, slightly over 6 feet. His skin is unnaturally pale, and his eyes are a dark blue, almost violet. His gaunt body belies the strength given to him by his demon heritage.

Backstory: Derrick has lived in Bashor all his life, and has only recently uncovered his heritage as a half-demon. He lived with foster families all his life, and didn't know either of his parents. When angels and demons begin to flock to the city, Derrick finds his chance to learn more about his past.

Weapons: Though his strength has multiplied in the past few years, Dante has yet to relinquish his pistols as a favored weapon. But when push comes to shove, his skill with his scimitar is hard to match.

Armor: Accustomed to living in the harsh ghettos of Bashor all his life, Dante finds speed is his best friend. But when danger is unavoidable, Dante can fold his massive wings around him for extra protection. The scale covered wings can turn away all but the most forceful of blows.

Powers: Dante's powers have been devoloping nicely. He has found that demon-fueled strength and speed are much to his liking. his only actual "power" he has found is his ability to move at bursts of super-human speed, effectively slowing the world down.

I think i'll be buffy the vampire slayert, oh wait wrong, but similar storyline...

Name: Timeotheus (The honour of God, don't look me up on that one) But some call him...Tim
Gender: Male
Race: Angel
Side: Good
Appearance: Formal but modern clothing, the highest style of the era.
Backstory: Works for the Bashor City Museum, and has worked closely with the research into the the Grail, it is unkown to Kelly that he was alive during alot of the Grails long and turbulent history. He is smart and young looking, having worked at the Museum for a decade or so, with a remarkable history throughout the world. English.
Weapons: None.
Armor: None, relies on speed and divine aura
Powers:
Superhuman speed as is suited to a messenger of God.
Divine aura, Timeo hates weapons and the dishonour it breeds, as such he is antithesis to not just mundane weapons but supernatural weapons too, whther it an unsubstantail shadow blade or a demons talons, this ability does not extend to fireballs or such cinjurations of energy and not material.
Divine aura, Timeo extends a natural air of peacefulness, causing anger to seep away from those nearby.
Nonviolent, Timeo wields no weapons and hates all that they stand for, he believes life is sacred to mortals but shows no mercy to those who abuse their immortailty, like daemons. His form of attack is to disarm the enemy and subdue them into calm, before bringing them to final peace so that they can die in God's favour.
Regret, death is still the last option to Timeo, mortals who die before him cause him great pain and those allies nearby feel this pain and regret too.
Roman Catholic Guilt, Timeo sees the path and sacredity of Man, and knows that angels are just servants to God's will and their survival, and so he prefers not to manifest wings or such superhuman abilites, preferring to mimic human vulnerability in way to become closer to God, nonetheless he realises his place as aguardian and will resort to speed and angelic resilience when necessary.

23rd Mar 06, 11:44 AM
Name: Leo Ezekiel.
Gender: Male.
Age: 24.
Race: Human.
Side: Neutral.
Appearance: Lean and angular; his features bear an unnatural harshness. He wears a long, frayed black trench coat, with a hat similarly worn and torn. His green eyes bear an almost vacant expression outside of life and death situations.

Backstory: Leo was born in a nondescript rural town to uncertain parents; his life consisted of farming, living in abstract poverty, and more farming. Of course, that was before his 'fateful' meeting with Vellal - naturally, it involved more of his adoptive father being shaken down for food than an actual meeting. Nevertheless, he swiftly became enamoured with the hunter's ways and followed her trail scant days later. After witnessing the desecration of the land by the demons and their 'angelic' foes, he became the hunter's effective 'acolyte', trailing her wherever she went, and occasionally helping out with his mounting prowess in death-defying situations. Their working relationship lies somewhere within the bounds of 'friend' and simple 'employee', though Ezekiel is certainly not paid for his services - throughout his years in her shadow, he grew to emulate his 'employer' in her ruthlessness and devotion to the task - the eventual mastery of humanity over the supernatural and the destruction of both angel- and demonkind.

Equipment:

Weapons: Twin Desert Eagle pistols with extended ammunition clips and anointed bullets; hunting rifle with blessed ammunition, and a pair of wakizashi blades.
Armour: A flak jacket scrounged from the corpse of an Army sergeant, and a crucifix. He also travels by horse, not being quite athletic enough to keep pace without one.
Powers: Blessed Weapons - Due to the blessed nature of the ammunition used with his firearms, his weapons are capable of felling even the greatest of demons (and angels), given the time and energy.
Exceptional Stealth - For whatever reason - be it supernatural, or mere coincidence - Leo is virtually always ignored by his foes until the last minute, when the guns finally start blazing, and the proverbial shit hits the fan in a blaze of demonic, or angelic, guts, marked typically by the rasping death throes of said supernaturals.
Racial Hatred: Half-Demons - Leo possesses an unnatural - even for a hunter of both demon- and angelkind - hatred of half-demons. In his absence, his family was slaughtered by a rogue half-demon who slaughtered everyone he had ever loved...simply to prove the point that humanity was weak. Since then, he has dedicated himself to the hunt of such creatures who claim to be halfborn of humanity...for they are unworthy of the name. Due to several months of intense study following the event, Leo possesses an uncanny ability to anticipate the actions of half-demon breeds...and act accordingly.

Everyone starts at the museum it is up to you where in the museum. After the museum you can create areas around it. I'm doing this so that the story can expand all in many different ways. The NPC's can be used by everyone else, feel free to control their actions.

Begining Story:

Detective Klas stood in the main hallway in the Bashor museum. He couldn't believe this mess two researchers are dead and the third isn't saying a word. Kelly Marks is her name and she looks like she's seen the devil. Klas walked up to Kelly he was going to try to question her again, right now she was the prime suspect in these killings.

Just then the sound of gun fire outside, the screams of police officiers. The front door flew open and the torn body of a policeman came flying in. Klas and the other police in the room pulled his gun. Standing in the doorway was a horrible pig like man covered in blood.

OOC: Ok everyone you are all in or around the museum so feel free to add in the other NPCs, and move characters around the city.

Dante spun around just in time to see a police officers' body slide into the entryway of the museum. the stunned detective twirled around in time to see what looked like a pig-demon stroll slowly through the door.

Taking a few steps back, Dante slide his hand across his hips to make sure his twin Eagles were still at his side. His hands rested firmly on their hilts, ready to be drawn in an instant.

As if the pig-demon could sense his anxiousness, it slowly cocked it's gore-covered face in Dante's direction. It looked as through gouts of flesh had been viciously torn off it's face, then grown back only to be shredded again. The monsters lips curved into a wicked smile, and a set of razor sharp fangs came into view.

Dante had hoped to keep his nature secret till the time was right, but it looked like he had to tip his hand already.

Dante crouched slightly, looking as though he was ready to pounce at the demon. In the blink of an eye a pair of gigantic black-scaled wings tore through the back of his jacket, flapping once and sending the half-demon into a speedy dive.

By the time he was in the air, Dante's pistols were drawn. he fired off as many shots as he could before tucking his wings and rolling into a dive-roll straight past the pig-demon. The demon squealed...well, like a stuck pig. Dante quickly jumped up from the roll and corrected his form. He spun on his heels and fire three more shots into the beasts head. Dante was already reloading a clip as it's body hit the floor.

Looking over at the stunned detective, Dante shoved the guns in their respective holsters. "Consider that a favor from..." Before he could finish his statement, a movement in the corner of his eye caught Dante's attention. The mangled heap of pig-demon was slowly getting to its feet. With the same lunatic grin it met him with moments before, the demon rose to its feet.

"Well...Piss."

Ivan sensed danger. He contected to Kelly's mind, and looked through her eyes. Well now that would be a problem now wouldn't it? he walked over to the sunglass and broke it, hopping inside to join the fight. "Why was I assigned to you, of all people?" He pulled out a javieln and threw in in the beast, it made no move to dodge or attack, it just keep on grinning. Ivan sighed. He flung the creature across the room with his powers and summoned his lance. He pinned the pig to the wall, the lance visable from the other side and coming out of the things over-stuffed belly. Ivan took a step back, to see if the pig could escape. No? Good, now how to kill it? Perhaps a holy water gun...

The noise of fighting echoed down the corridor, but one noise alerted Morgrais more than any, the scream of a young girl, Kelly, whom he was sworn to protect from evil. After grabbing his cloak and weapons head ran down the corridor towards the main hallway.

He bursted through the doors, straight away he noticed death in the room, a few dead police but thats not what got his attention, it was the angel holding a pig demon to a wall with a lance.

The Demons know where she is, it wont be long before they over run this place, killing everyone looking for her and the Grail,

Morgrais walked mystically over past two police officers who were shouting something to him, he walked up to Kelly Grabbed her hand

"Come with me, you must leave now" he ordered

Detective Klas looked at Morgrais and said "She's not going anywhere with you, she's need in a case, two of her fellow researchers are dead, we need to know why"

"We have No time for this, Kelly Come Now" again ordered Morgrais

"I don't want to go anywhere, If you want to take this (the grail) then take it" she said as she pushed it towards Morgrais, the grail made Morgrais feel ill, sicking the stomach,

"I can not take such a thing, Now enough of this" he shouted as he grabbed Kelly's hand and lead her through the back door.

"Ah, thanks Morgrais." Ivan turnned his head back to the deamon. "Hmm... how inflated can your head get?" Ivan began to expand the pig head to a great size. Ivan backed away from the mouth as not to get bitten. Ivan ran up, slapped it, and jumped back. The thing got very angry. Ivan shoved hordes of air into the head, and it exploded. "Not very good without the top half of your body now are you?" Ivan took back the Bright Lance and cleaned it. "Detective Klas, currently Kelly needs to be as far away from you unprotective human's as possible, your dark Police Station is the worst place to go. Things are happening that you can't handle, nor can you play by the normal rules. Leave it to us, we can deal with it."

What in the wo-" Ivan had already flown back to the roof. He tracked Kelly and stayed above should anthing else happen. "Err..." Klas went outside, he was sure he had heard some SWAT come, where were they?

Josh ran in the back door of the musem and then slammed it closed and locked it.

He leaned back against the door to catch his breath.

"What the FUCK is going on here?" He said out loud.

"We have little time," Vellal said impatiently. "And no chance at all to fight so many foes at once, least of all with a clear objective in mind, that is all too killable. Unlike our foes," she muttered distainfully.

A lesser demon burst out of cover and went for her. Without so much as blinking, she shot it three times through the head, then drew her holy blade and decapitated the writhing body. "But this is will give us an excellent view of the surrounds," she pointed out. "So all we have to do," she continued, drawing a rope and grappal from her back, "is wait." She threw the hook, latching onto one of eves of the ornamental roof of the museum, and gestured for Leo to cover her as she steadily climbed the rope. Perched gracefully at the top, she moved sideways a little and brought out her carbine again, in her turn covering her pupil as he ascended, pulling the rope up after him. Swift, and professional. Nodding in grudging approval, she waited, ready for the moment when the objective would be hustled this way by whatever force should take charge of it. No human force could be trusted with the girl; and neither angel or demon would have her, not while Vallal had strength.

Soon he came into the lobby and noticed a rather pretty lady in a rather good shooting spot.

He shouted "HEY who are you!?"

OOC: As there was a back door, I edited to sitting on the roof. But I'll write from that point as if you just saw us on the roof.

IC: Vellal sighed slightly. "I am a demonhunter," she said simply. "That means I hunt demons, and also angels, who are just as evil, I can assure you professionally. My name is Vellal, I have extensive experience with the kind of shit that's breaking out around here, and we are staking this place out to free the Key-Soul..." she frowned, "I apologise, the human who caused this outbreak, Key-Soul is just the terminology. In any case, she is the heart, well, key of this matter and me and my acolyte intend to free her from any supernatural force that may be holding her, before leaving fast. I recommend you stay clear; this could get messy, and demons may well be drawn to my presence."

"Uuhhhh ooookkkk." Said Josh in a skeptical voice. "So these things are demons huh? Ok. Well My unit was using the building across the street from the back door to this place as a strong point. We were gonna hold out until extraction arrived. All of them were killed except me. I bugged out when a REALLY big monster showed up and started ripping into us. We called for fire support but it never came.. HOLY SHIT GET OFF THE ROOF!"

he started waving his arms and yelling "GET OFF THE ROOF! THERE'S GONNA BE A HELL OF AN ARTILLARY BOMBARDMENT COMING IN ABOUT TWO MINUTES HERE AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BE OUSIDE!"

EDIT: Josh now has a radio that can call in fire support and airstrikes.

"Crap," Vellal said. "Can you people define overkill?" She leapt off the roof, landing gracefully and rolling to avoid injuring herself. She stood and whistled, a single piercing note that sprang up the empty street. A note in the arcanum language.

Now waiting, she inspected the Guardsman with disinterest. He looked like what a guardsman looked like, though he had some composure. She had to look like something out of a movie, she knew; with tough leather clothes, a cruxifix round her neck, a shotgun on one shoulder, a carbine in her hands, and two swords scabbarded on either side of her belt. Besides a natural and foolish skepticism, he was handling it very well.

This might make an impact, she reflected, as after staring at him for a disconcertingly long time her horse cantered gently out of an alley, followed by Leo's. She whistled again as Aola approached, lowering his head to let her mount. That done, she frowned at the Guardsman. "Just keep out of the way, okay? This isn't your area. It is ours."

Klaus88

"Wait you don't seriously intend to go out there do you. I mean you can't out run an artillary bombardment! You'll be torn to shreds!" Josh shouted as the first shells started raining down.

"Well fuck those arty idiots are a minute early. Guess we're stuck here huh? Anything out there is gonna be in so many pieces I don't care where they come from cause they'll be dead."

"What we intend is none of your concern." Leo cut in harshly, eyeing up the Guardsman in the space of seconds - after all, he didn't see much lying on the surface. Maybe there was something underneath that he didn't see - either way, he sincerely doubted the soldier would last any significant length of time against what he deemed 'monsters'.

He averted his eyes from the soldier and instead swept them across the street - nothing. Nothing save the incandescent blaze of impacting artillery shells, that was. But when you'd confronted demons from the Abyss, witnessed divinely-crafted angels fall from the skies as their wings blazed with molten fire...there was little within humanity's power that could even shake you anymore, let alone give you pause.

"Fight these demons with your little explosives if you like - if you intend yourself to be of use, get a real weapon or stay out of our way." His harsh tone softened slightly as he finished, his cold green eyes almost glinting with an ounce of compassion.

"I don't mean to sound conceited; but this isn't your fight. One day, it will be. One day, all of us will have to make that stand. But for you, it doesn't have to be now - do yourself a favour and get out of here now before you lose everything because of it."

Tim poked his head out of his office, his classical music had been blaring out full volume to keep the police from interfering with his packing. Now all around him things were blowing up, spontaneously it seemed.

He got up from his seat, picked up a black briefcase and lef the room, as he went down the corridor toward the main exhibition hall, a shell whistle through the building and impacted upon his shoulder, Tim didn't even tense or flinch the shell simply shattered against his suit and fire blossomed out across him, he carried on walking though ignoring this surprise. As he made his way to the disintegrating amin entrance he made a note to steer clear of the murder scene, he departed the building as it fell to the floor.

"Who the hell called the artillery may i ask?" He said to the world at large, sweeping dust from his shoulders.

"Foolish humans."

The demonic lord swooped in towards the center piece of this military location and with a series of strikes from his claws the artillery piece exploded in a blaze of fire. Bullets from the lowly mortals fazed him not. They would not defile this town and harm that which he sought. Thou he had arrived too late to stop the first shot there would not be an opportunity to fire a second.

"You will all kill one another." Using the powers of suggestion all of the soldiers in the vicinity went blank with expression. Turning their weapons they had used on him on themselves they opened fire eliminating their comrade without a second thought or second of hesitation. The demon grinning as he feasted off the malovelent actions he forced this previously pure souls were forced against their very nature.

“The night is still young. I must ensure that no other foolish humans attempt to interfere.”

Taking back into the sky on his wings the demon set out to check for any other troublemakers. Soon he would arrive within the boundaries of the city and seek out the grail but for now he must ensure nothing else will change the landscape.

Daniel was walking around the museum, around the dead bodies, Mp-7 at hand, he only came here because he felt like he had to, not to kill. Suddenly, 6 Lesser demons, spawned from the stone floor, Daniel started firing at the demons, he knew what would happen if they got close. Two fell but one leaped upon him and attempted to gorge out his eyeballs with his teeth. At point blank range, 20 bullets went into the demons unholy skull, Daniel got up and ran to hide, although half angel, they could still smell the angel side of him.

"Brother, why aren't you joining the killing?" He heard. "I am." The Shadow said and leaped towards the demon and cutting it's head off with a clean slice. He jumped from the roof and made his way to the musem.

The shells had fallen around the museum, only one round of shells, then nothing. Outside the museum a metallic voice came ringing out above the explosions and screams "Vellal.... Leo...... I'm here, come to me, let us play again." At this a man made of blades stepped out of the shadows of the hedges outside of the museum.

"You," Vellal breathed, raising her carbine. "I have a good memeory for souls. We killed you before- we can do it again, lesser demon." Not even waiting to see whether her words had any effect, she aimed and fired a lightning six-shot spread, three to metal chest and three where the forehead should be. Unsuprised that even these holy rounds only wounded the creature, she spurred her horse towards the demon in apparent rashness, firing as she went. But that was not rashness. Leo just needed the time to do what he did best- move for a single killing strike. In the meantime, her and Aola would provide the distraction. She twitched the reins to circle the creature, firing as she went. Then she fired the last shot and hurridly threw the gun over her shoulder, clumsily raising and aiming the shotgun with one hand- the recoil of the shot nearly pushing her off her horse. But then the other came up with her holy blade, Aola reared up, and she met the monstrosity's charge squarely.

Leo darted forward, frayed trench coat billowing behind him as he sprinted, wraith-like, for the shadows. He didn't look back; he never did - they never saw him, and they always died for it. It was simply the way it was. Just like his family hadn't seen the halfbreed demon coming for them. He moved round one of the museum's artistically-crafted hedges, then snapped round the side, hunting rifle glimmering slightly in the pale moonlight that shone down in the dusky, waning hours of the afternoon.

His throat, dry and hoarse, whispered a slight curse on the demon, before opening the old barrels of the hunting rifle - it was, despite its age and relative obsolescence, a probability-defying instrument of death. A faintly shimmering anointed bullet found its nestled home within the barrel; he slammed it into place, took aim with the practised expertise of close to a decade of hunting, caught the blade-formed demon in his sights, and fired a single, lone shot into its head. The crack of the shot broke the angry, tension-filled quiet - in the wake of the now-silenced artillery barrage, the single gunshot was almost pathetically miniscule. But its deliverance was far more lethal...the same anointed bullets that had put an end to so many a self-assured, fully grown and enraged demon struck true; they always did...

Klaus88
24th Mar 06, 3:45 PM
OOC: Ok Im not sure if you guys just don't know about artillary and all that stuff but an artillary barrage WOULDN'T just be one cannon. it would several cannons at least 6 likely more pounding one small area. And if there were more they would all be in a very widespread area IE not grouped together were one lucky hit can take out several guns at once. This all adds up to it being unlikely that one demon lord being able to stop a barrage by himself.

Ivan sighed once again. A shell exploded on the roof to the right. Ivan stopped the shells in midair with his mind, enlarged them, and sent them flying behind the cannons. They flipped them but in no way did Ivan directly hurt or kill the humans. But he knew that those stupid humans hadn't yet extracted Kelly, his burden. That other angel was doing it just fine though. But Ivan knew better, soon there would be to many deamons for them two to handle. More protecters would be needed. Ivan heard Klas speak the the left. How did Ivan manage to get himself all the way back to the doorway? Ivan looked down at Klas. Well that just solved a problem. "Hello! Something is a miss here, where are the workers? Why is it so quiet?

Suddenly a noise bellowed from the door to his left, growing louder.

"What is that!" Kelly shouted hidding behind Morgrais

Morgrais stepped away from her and drew his pistols, he turned to Kelly "It is a Demon, It want you, but I wont let that happen"

Suddenly it bursted through the door, sniffing its demon nose around, Morgrais stood in front of the beast, rasied his pistols and cocked an eyebrow before firing several shots into its head. The beast feel to the ground in a foul thump

Mutturing an incantation of banishment, she leaned down and decapitated the beast with one sweep of her holy blade, then straightened. That strange instinct of hers was drilling her skull. "We had best hurry," she said cooly. "I couldn't say who exactly is holding the girl, but if they're evil, she may already be dead. If they are on the side of the anegls, they will be trying to extract her. Either way, we'd better move fast." OOC: Christ this is going too fast, i haven't done anything and already people are artillery shelling things, cos for some reason the military are here. Demons seem to be able to summon up just about anywhere, spontaneously, a human has a horse in a city.

Is this even particularly subtle or right?

Sevorak
25th Mar 06, 4:52 AM
OOC: Sword Monkey, Vellal was already riding her horse 'round the perimeter of the museum by the end of that last post. The metallic demon got banished already.

Leo smiled faintly at Vellal's handling of the demon; he slung his hunting rifle, making a subconscious note of the ammunition he had left before sprinting after Vellal, whistling at Edala to follow before he swept up on her side, mounted her, and the white horse sprung into motion, leaping after Vellal with her typical, boundless enthusiasm. They caught up to Aola and Vellal in a flash; they were, by far, the more measured pair of the curious quartet.

"No, tell me now, I need to know!" Leo heard the voice; in his position, few would have been deaf to the terror coursing through its notes. It was likely to be the Key-Soul - the human key to hell. Or so it was said. Either way, the demons believed it...and to trick a demon either required a silver tongue...or power greater than the demon's own. Neither were particularly easy to come by.

"There's our entrance!" Leo called to her over the soft sound of the horses' hooves; she nodded a curt affirmative and directed Aola to a halt several metres away from it, before lightly jumping to the ground. He followed suit with Edala; he laid a hand on her head to steady her as she threw it back, nerves getting the better of her, then drew his twin pistols and took aim at the door as the pair moved closer. Anything coming through there - be it angel, demon or mere human - would soon become the lucky recipient of a pair of anointed bullets from him, and likely a shotgun blast from Vellal also. Depending on the strength and relative resilience of said supernatural, they would either die...or bleed so badly they'd be carrion for the next person to come along if they didn't get moving quickly enough.

With any luck, it would be an angel - they wouldn't be in any position to fight back if they still had the strength to stand. But then, the wondrous thing about angels was that they physically lacked the ability to kill humans directly...they could burn villages to the ground while fighting demons with their crossfire...but in the end, there wasn't anything they could do against him with their own formidable abilities. That, at least, was a blessing - and one of the few he and Vellal could claim to have.

OOC: "Horse" was clearly listed in my character description. And humans don't want angels or demons, thank you. This is the world, and it belongs to mankind alone. ;)

Oh, and this is a good time to remind you that you can't kill me. How cool is that? :D

IC: Aola made a soft noise, but it was enough. Vellal span and raised her shotgun, aiming squarely at the angel's head. "I don't know who you are," she said calmly "but your kind isn't wanted here." She fired.

It was with some bemusement that she realised the blessed round had done nothing at all. She fired again, to no avail. "I see," she said finally. Then she lowered her gun, drew her demonsword, and started chanting.

Vellal was no master of arcanum- she knew little more than scraps, truth be told, to summon Aola, to weaken or distract an enemy, the final rites to let the dead die in peace, becoming neither angel nor demon- but she did know a little about banishment, for either kind. Certianly nowhere near enough to do the job, but the incantation should at least hurt the higher order of angel confronting them, and persuade it that its services were better employed elsewhere.

"Why do you wish to kill me human, or rather banish me? I find you quite odd, you see none of God's great plan, you think you can take things into your own hands, why?" Tim said whilst Vellal chanted.

"Your anger is strong, even my aura doesn't calm you from your fury. You are so close to the demons i hate and so you shall have to atone for that, stop your chanting now, i don't even think about striking me with any forged weapons, or man made fire. IC: "Don't make me laugh," Vellal said coldly, interpsering her speech with continued chanting. "God cares nothing for us. Did God save my parents? Did God save all those I've seen die at the hands of demons? Did God care when the actions of your kind ruined lives as you fought demons? People die! That is enough. I wear God's symbols and carry his weapons because they are the only ones which will suffice to my task- to kill all demons, and all angels. This is mankind's world and heaven and hell alike can both get out of my way, and get out of this world!"

She reigned in her passion and continued to chant, eyes watching hawkishly for the first sign of attack from the creature. Her words were stronger now, seeming to ripple in the air. She spoke again. "Leave," she said more calmly. "Just go, and do not continue to impede me. Mankind can fight its own demons." She chanted faster, noting in the subtle change of stance that her incantation was beginning to have some effect- that the angel was at least discomforted. "Just go," she repeated, waiting for a reply, or else an attack. Her weapons may not be of use against the creature's flesh, but she should be able to at least defend with them.

"Just because you blame your parents deaths on the untimely intervention against the Demons long ago, it doesn't mean they weren't cared for by God! You humans have too much sentiment for this world, Angels can't kill humans remember, and the pain an Angel feels for human death is more than enough punishment! Just think where you dead parents are now fool, and then think where you are going when you die! Oh and you mastery of the arts is poor" With a slight movement of his hand Tim removed the sound from the nearby area, silencing the chant, and removing his pain.

Angels are here to stop demons and do God's work on earth, we answer to no-one but GOd, but since you humans are his special creation we can't hurt you, but if God damns you and exiles you, then you are fair game, beware mortal.

IC: "Angels," Vellal said with a tone reminiscent of a swear word. She shrugged in disinterest and reloaded her shotgun, turning to Leo. "I doubt sneaking around would have worked that time," she warned. "Would have made him jump, though. Well, you get that kind some times. But they're all talk, so you can just ignore them, even if you can't kill them. There endith the lesson." She cocked her shotgun. "The Key is close. I can feel it," she said calmly. Ivan turned away from the entrance, he had heard chanting, rather off chanting but still chanting. Ivan didn't like the chant either, it was meant to harm an angel. It was off enough to be human, which made it all the more scarier. He sensed distress in Kelly, this couldn't be good either. Ivan ran above Kelly's location and ripped out the roof with his powers, jumped down in front of Kelly's crying figure, and replace the roof. "What is wrong Kelly?"

"WTF!" Shouted Kelly.

"I see, well. You might find this hard to believe, but you are a key to the gateway to Hell, and have slightly opened it. If the lesser deamons that got out kill you, the greater deamons will also come out and destroy Earth as you know it, and it would become a battle field between Heaven and Hell. Now, we angel's are trying to save you, so I suggest you follow us and not any deamon or human. I myself am your guardian angel, which is why I was one of the first here." This explaination did not help. The cyring and feelings of distress increased. Great, at least she knew she wanted to live more. Poor girl, randomly chosen. "Please, move." She got up, not because she wanted to, but because she knew she had to.

"Alright, lets go."

"I am Elizabeth and I have come here today to tell you that a war between good and evil has begun in your city. I am going to light the spire of this church so that all those who are fighting for the side of good can see. They will come and you must help them." At this a blinding light engulfed the tower outside of the church and the father stood he knew he must prepare.

OOC: the church is 20 city blocks from the museum so your charactors will ahve to travel that far to get to it.

Detective Klas did not understand what this thing had said to him, the only thing he knew was that it was not human and whatever was happening here was not human. Just as he was about to speak back to this thing a horrid smell filled the air. It was night now and suddenly the air began to feel very heavy and humid. The ground began to rumble. "Was this more artillary?" he thought to himself. Fire then burst from the man hole that was behind him. He looked around him on the street on the walls and roof of the museum even in the trees around it there was movement. A hissing voice wailed out "Where is the girl?"

OOC: these things are a new NPC demon.

Tim stood on the roof of the museum looking at the scene below. With great happiness he saw two humans meet each other, with anger at first but then there common cause united them and they wandered off together. That was how it was meant to be, but there were demons about and humanity needed more than unity to remain alive in these dire times.

Tim took to gracefull but quietly bounding along the roof line following the two aqauintances.

“Waste of flesh.” Spoke the demon lord as his claws moved through flesh with ease. Having arrived at a local power station the demon was making short work of anything between ground level and the main generator.

“Maybe I will make the evening news, if there is any power left to watch it.” He sneered as another helpless employee passed through his claws blood splattering across the walls as they ran in terror from him.

His plan was quite simple disable communications and all manner of contact with the outside world and this was but a first step, without power the population would panic. Panic would let demons move about easier and ensure that during the day none of them did anything smart. It was a simple operation for a demon such as him to simply walk through security as they eliminated themselves but for all the hapless employees he would personally see to their demise.

By the time he reached the main generator the smell of blood and the trail was overwhelming for most things. Walls splattered and corpses strewn throughout the entirety of the facility.

“Lights out would be appropriate but oh so corny.”

Standing before the generator the demon pondered if anything would even hazard a chance at stopping him as he took another few steps towards the main generator within the local power generation station. Blood flying off his claws as he shook the drips from them as stood poised to destroy the heart of the station and plunge the town into darkness.

ooc: unless anyone plans to stop me, i'm going to turn out the lights ^_^

"So down here, we have the goddamn apocalypse..." Leo muttered under his breath, spitting harshly at the shadow of the retreating angel...one day, he swore darkly, he would have the strength to make them bleed by his own will...not by the barrel of a gun blessed by the grace of another. He tensed his grip around the pair of ornate pistols in his hand, and broke into a run as Vellal caught sight of their quarry; the Key-Soul...and another angel. He bit on his lip, drawing blood - allowing the slight pain to focus him as he drew a bead on the target...and let loose with a flurry of flawlessly aimed shots directly at the angel's body. He didn't aim to kill - such things were pointless when the target was an angel...

Their vaunted nobility typically ensured that they would likely do something, even wounded, that would cause some minor inconvenience to the demonic forces; though they couldn't do much to damage Vellal's - and by extension, his - plans. The Key's eyes flared wide at the sight of him, and she leased a horrified scream as he opened fire, bullets tearing through the air, distorting the world around them as their blessed energy lashed into the angel's frame...

OOC: Should have aimed to kill, now you get hurt.

Ivan shoke from the fire, but his armor took the main of it. "Urg!" Get her out of here! He let that pass to the other angels mind before turning to his foe. Human, that changed little. "What are you doing? Do you defy God? He created you, and this world You and your world belong to him, do not try to kill his agents!" He ripped the ground under Leo off and sent it straight through the roof and high into the air. Debris flew everywhere. Ivan saw Vellal coming, so he let the rock loose. The mass of Leo, his horse, and the rock tumbled to the ground about a block or two away from the museam. Ivan hopped that the horse and rock crushed that human. He looked at Vellal. "Humans, so fragile. You will find that I am not as kind and forgiving as other angels." Ivan stumbled a bit. Crap. Why hadn't he ever got that hole in his leg armor fixed. A bullet wound was apperent. Ivan took it out and fixed the wound with his mind, expanding nearby armor to cover it. It didn't stop the pain though. Such use tired him a bit, but he was still suit to fight.

OOC: No way you are that powerful. WTF? Now YOU get hurt. Angels aren't even allowed to kill humans, and I think "throwing across several blocks" at least counts as lethal force from a moral perspective. IE, the rules clearly state you can't do it.

IC: Vellal didn't waste time with words. She simply aimed with her carbine, firing a solid stream of rounds that smashed the angel in the face, reducing the head to so much pulped morass. This angel was powerful, though- so she rode in hard onto the stumbling creature and decpaitated it with a single sweep of her daemonsword.

OOC: Is that aiming to kill? Don't worry, you can reincarnate.

IC: The angel toppled to the ground, stone dead. It would be back, of course. But that didn't matter. The Key screamed and ran. Vellal spurred Aola forwards, sheathing the blood-thirsting demonsword and precisely clubbing her around the back of the head with the butt of her carbine. Bringing her horse around, she dismounted and threw the unconcious girl over the saddle, before climbing up and setting off again. Then she went to find Leo, galloping fast. There was little time.

Edit: Wasn't there someone else guarding the girl? Damn. Oh, well.

OOC: In addition to your rather deranged example of powerplay, I have but this to say...oh, this, and: you broke the damn rules. Angels. Cannot. Kill. Humans. Which means, by extension, you cannot try to kill humans. Though, of course, I'm not going to have my character die from a one-line attack. 'Thou shalt not suffer the powergamer to live...nor shall thee give his attacks any credence.'

Leo swept through the air, deathly calm - the slight misstep would kill him in what he was to do next. But he knew what he was doing - a scant few whispers in the tongue of arcana saved him long before he even came close to touching the ground - he would have thought that such an angel - especially one spouting their pathetic litanies as furiously as that one was - would have thought better than to leave one at the mercy of the laws of physics...but then, the laws of arcana were so often disregarded by angels...the incantation of slowfall - or kah therandas in the arcana tongue - came swiftly and easily, for it was a simple one.

Though the effort drained him, his innate arcana faintly dissipated, just on the verge of his perception as he touched the ground lightly, swept some light dust from his shoulders, and took a few steps forward before casually slowing Edala's fall also; he leapt atop her and waited for Vellal to arrive, once more cursing the angels...though his tone held some small amount of mirth for that one's sheer foolishness. And, of course, the minute distraction he had provided - while the angel's worthless litanies subsided - had surely earned it a swift and rather painful death.

Such will be the fate of all angels...Leo's face contorted into a snarl, faintly brushing his arcana irritably; he could make the minute pool grow...he knew that now. He could forge it into a raging whirlpool of incandescent, destructive energy. And he would make the angels pay. He would make them all pay...for the good of all mankind.

OOC: Yeah don't worry if you get killed you can be reborn on earth the rules for being reborn are in one of my first posts, and technocially it's possible to an angel to kill a human as long it isn't on purpose but it would probably mess with their heads a little bit. Angels and Demons do have amazingly strong powers but they aren't on their actual home realm any more. They are in the human realm now so they are more powerful than humans but their powers would be a little dampered by the forces in this realm. Also alot of these humans do have unholy and holy blessed objects so they can cause pain or "death" to the demons and angels.

Claws running through the machinery and electronics that made up the power generation station. Explosions of light and flame washing over the form of the demonic lord his wings illuminated by the flame surrounding them as the station was engulfed in flames.

All throughout the city of Bashor streetlamps and televisions flickered off as the power grid was removed from around them. Shadows no longer were cast as complete darkness save the light of the moon and the unnatural holy glow of the church. Lesser demons including the legion began to began to rise from the newly darkened city and perform their own goals. Only sunrise would halt the current run of demonic activity without the artificial lighting and electricity to even alert others to their presence.

”Flames lick my form but harm not one such as I.” Announced the demon lord to the corpses all set ablaze and soon to be crushed by falling structure of the station. Backup generators of selective institutions in the city would soon kick in but for now the city was completely engulfed in darkness.

Taking flight the demon shot through the roof of the station prior to the entire building falling in on itself. Surveying the city he set out for the museum, his dark feathered wings and armor illuminated by the moon above.

OOC: Fine then. But just so you know, Ivan was waiting for Vellal, and would've took the guns from her hands with his powers, and then have blocked the blow with his lance. And Leo didn't even have to take damage, you saw what he did, and i would have been fine with it. Its called survival instincts. But you would think that the horse would have paniced, and Leo. You were just rocketed through air! Horse could have mistepped for him. And the earth didn't go straight up, thus when Ivan let go it would have spun, not allowing Leo the time to chant. It was also a indirect shot, aimed at the ground. It seems to fit the rules. The fact that a angel can't do anything to a human seems odd, how can a angel win then. We are doomed from the start. Helf angel's wouldn't do so good either. I swear. So you guys can't die but I can. So unfair. "Mommy dem Mudderf@%#s cheatin'!"

IC: Ivan tapped his foot impatiently in the preservitory. All of that completly gone to waste. He felt around his neck, slightly odd. Dead, then alive. Kelly wasn't farring to well, and to think if she was ever going to live she would have to kill the humans. Those other angel's were powerless. Kelly, do something! Wake up!
-----
Kelly opened her eyes, rough riding and a message from heaven could do that. She thought for a momment, Vellal didn't even know she was awake. She looked at the sword on Vellal's side. She could take it and kill her, but then someone else might take revenge, and Hell would break loose. Her new host had attacked her guardian, but hadn't killed her. What did this all mean? She grabbed the blessed sword and jumped off, dust rolled around her. It hurt, but by this time it was up to her to save herself. She remembered her sparring classes as Vellal turned around. Vellal had guns, crap. Kelly turned and ran up a nearby stairwell. Out of sight before Vellal could shoot.

OOC: @ NotPersonal: Perhaps because the rules did not intend for angels to go about trying to kill humans? Which is what your angel clearly intended to do - without the slowfall spell, Leo would have been crushed utterly. The rules say that an angel can kill a human, as long as it's not on purpose. That does not, however, mean that you can attempt to indirectly kill a human - you're still trying to kill him, even if it's not technically your power doing the killing. The way I interpret the rules is that, for example, an angel can kill a human by burning a house down, for example, if said angel has no idea there's a human inside. If he had known the human was inside, he wouldn't have been physically able to burn down said house. below_you, if I'm wrong on this count, correct me - but that's how I interpret the rules here.

And Leo's used to amateur angels trying to throw him through the air - it's a rather show-offish tactic, and not all that effective in the long run. In truth, the only degree of surprise he'd have felt would have been a minute sense of surprise that you didn't try and kill him in some other - more potent - fashion. And Leo doesn't have to chant - it's a slight, muttered incantation, because he's not trying to do a great deal. He simply needed to mutter a few words - were he better, he wouldn't even have needed to do that. But at any rate, carrying on this OOC discussion would be rather pointless, ayia? This is just my position - make of it what you will.

IC:

Leo, already moving through the streets as a slight twinge in his mind indicated something was going wrong. He spurred Edala on, galloping round into the street where the little girl had just managed to get off Vellal's horse - bad move on her part, he knew, but little harm had been done. Vellal was already moving, running across the street towards the house whose external stairwell she had made for. Leo got there faster, by virtue of Vellal's relative surprise at the girl's action. He leapt from Edala in an instant, landing lightly on his feet in an almost ethereal motion.

He drew his own blades, and advanced onto the strangely constructed abode's roof, where Kelly was frantically looking over the side, wind brushing her hair across her pale face. In the distance, something exploded, and Kelly screamed, pointing the blade's tip at Leo in a fairly amateurish grip. Leo's own blades flicked forward in a practised, offensive stance.

"You really don't want to go doing that," he told her quite calmly. "I'm not here to hurt you - but that doesn't mean I won't," He advanced upon her easily, observing her hold the demonsword with a grip that suggested someone barely capable of swinging the weapon, let alone exerting will over such a potent artiface.

"Five years," he said, calmly. "Five years with these blades. A further nine with others. Suffice to say that I - whether you name me 'freak', 'liar', 'batshit insane', or simply 'demonhunter' - am probably your best chance at survival right now. And I will save your life, whether you want me to or not. They want you - both sides, and they will seek to manipulate you for their own ends. Listen not to the angels' honeyed words - all they care about is their selfish deity who causes all of us - all humans - pain and suffering, and does nothing against the demons who already march against us. Come with me - I can help you live through this, run away - whatever you want. But neither angels nor demons are going to help you with that, believe me. To them, you're a weapon. To us, you're a human being, who deserves as much of a chance at life as anyone."

I cannot enter their minds as they ward me off, so I cannot assure you of their purpose, but... perhaps they can help. Your move Kelly. Kelly listened to the words, Ivan made sense. "The angel's would, and I am a heavy catholic, don't speak of them like that! It is evil talk. Talk that shows you as Satan-followers, but if you were I would be dead. I will go with you on one condition, you take me to the church." Kelly backed up a little. She had saw a way out when she was looking over the edge. She would take it if she had to. She rose the sword a bit, not much she could do but at least it explained her state of mind to him. Wait, how did he live that? He must be a deamon, no other way. But why wasn't she dead? Arg!

She sighed. This ran against the grain of her nature, but sometimes it had to be born. "Listen. We're here to take the girl to safety, away from angel and demon alike. I can't say I like your kind, but I do know we are running out of time. Both sides have powerful individuals at their disposal and they both want her. And whatever delusions you two may hold, I've seen it all before- the angels want her as well, for their reasons, not for her own good. So either tell me your purpose here, or go. She looked at Vellal, and then at the newcomer. Ivan had trusted him, but two to one was never a good choice. If you go to the church with them you will not be protected, a fight will break between them and us, but if you refuse you will lose this. She needed protection, but these people had odd views, ones she did not share. They would fight angel's, while the angel's were the best force against the deamons. Not them. She looked at the angel the kept trying to save her. "Sorry," she turned and jumped off the building, right on the motorcycle she saw. A man came out of the nearby pub, and just looked at her. When you see a girl on your motorcycle with a sword, your only response is "uhhh," Kelly kicked the stand up and hit the peddle. Two legions jumped in front of her. Be strong. She lifted the sword to one side and cleaved straight through. The other took to the air and swooped over her. It came down on top in a perfect dive. Kelly slashed up, keeping him away. Luckly her ex-boyfriend had taught her well with a motorcycle to the point where she could ride stairs, or else she would have lost balance from the fray. She saw another external stairway, she rode up it, still fending of the deamon. The landing stopped her, but the deamon kept on going. Kelly pressed the peddle again and cleaved it like the first. She leaned to the right, she knew what street this was even without the light. Tampa Drive, and in it was a shortcut to the church. To bad that the short cut was a alley, nice little place for deamons. You scare me sometimes.

OOC: Yeah...not to mention that a college student, of all people, knows how to use a frickin' demonsword? From the impression I got, it's a thirsting, rather evil weapon - not the sort a 'pious' person would touch, let alone have any ability to use. She ain't exactly a trained soldier, ayia?

IC:

Leo rode forth, following the girl on her little motorcycle with another quick spell, speeding Edala and hurling the pair of them forward in a tempest of motion; he glanced up at the half-demon, face contorting into a snarl - but he had other things on his mind rather than demonic halfbreeds. He'd kill that one later, he swore quietly.

The girl was a fool! Does she really believe these worthless angels are going to do anything other than use her for their own ends? Then she might as well be dead - if she's that fucking naive then she's going to end up in a gutter before long anyway. What's the point in saving someone who doesn't even give a damn about her own people? Let God watch us bleed and die for his own amusement - but I'm through with this.

He took aim with both pistols at a winged demon that blazed through the sky on twin wings of fire, Edala guiding him true, in combination with his own arcana - a flawless merger of the physical and the magical...and it showed. Getting up close to her 'cycle, he yelled out to Kelly as he opened fire, twin gouts of blood spattering from the demon as it hurled itself at the halfbreed, fire coruscating about its immense frame - a fully grown demon, and it was wounded...and thus far more dangerous than it otherwise had been. When their connection to mortality was in peril...they might have the ability to come back, but that simply made them even more desperate for life than mortals after a few, nice, bloody deaths...

...for the more known they were, the more likely it was that demonhunters of Leo's - and Vellal's - mind would come and blast their brains out and banish them forever...greater minds even than that would rip their very souls asunder.

"You're weak, demon! Go on, cling to life - and find yourself buried in the dust by one of us before long!"

Then, he turned away from the shrinking demon - already fallen behind, fighting the halfbreed - and returned his eyes to Kelly, even now attempting to lose him on her little 'cycle. Suffice to say, it wasn't working.

"Girl, you're going to get yourself killed here! Look, I'll get you to the Church in one piece, but believe me, these angels do not care about you! Hear me out, at least, once we're there! And give me that damn sword! Vellal can do more with it than you ever could!"

He turned away again, twin pistols blazing a storm of explosive death into the road ahead of him as he cleared a path; several explosions behind them evidenced that others were doing the same - but he didn't look. Angels, humans, whatever - for now, it was all good if they were keeping the demons off his back.

ooc:Wow. This is going fast! I'm away for little time and you guys post 4 pages of text!
So could anyone give me a quick summary of what has happened?

OOC: Hard to tell, tbh. Praxis has cut power to the city. These demons called the Legion are lose. Klaus is running from two of them. The girl we're after has run away with MY SWORD on a motorbike, I'm chasing, as is Sev, who has cast another neat spell and is gaining on her, as is Akr who is likewise trying to protect her. Oh yeah, I killed Notpersonal's angel after said angel nearly killed Sev, so this may be personal. ;)

IC: Aola fell behind as Vellal's acolyte took off, supported by the wings of acanum. She didn't like her apprentice's dependance on the nigh-magical arts, but he could do things she couldn't with it. And right now, she could cover him and the girl from the fifty kinds of demon raining down on them. One hand held her flaming torch, lighting their path- the other held her carbine awkwardly, firing bursts of supressive fire at the winged furies. It was at least enough to disuade them, and as they got closer to the Church, the light emnating from it would be sufficent to let her fire properly, as well as hopefully dissuade any demons. In theory...

OOC: @ Shadow: Fifty posts per page setting FTW! ;). But anyways. The Key-Soul (a.k.a. Kelly) is currently en-route to the Church, after proving herself an irritating burden on everyone by stealing a demonsword she has absolutely no clue how to use, performing death-defying stunts that should maim her without a scratch, and now she's proving that she's stupidly pious, too. I'm giving serious thought to simply shooting her in the head to stop her preaching. So's Lestaki. :D

OOC: :wtf: They're... horses. Of course not. They rely on the protection of their riders. Though right now I wouldn't recommend nailing one. That girl *is* trying to kill herself. Oh, and Vellal would be pissed, as would me. Horses are kewl. :D

OOC: No Im not going to take on out...yet, just wondering for the future thats all, oh and don't worry, Morgrais will stop her.

Morgrais gained speed with each leap, his adrenial was pumping causing him to go faster and faster with every leap, such is demonic power. He quickly gained distance on the demon hunters on their mounts and was closing on Kelly, who was having trouble controlling the bike, so she was going slower than top speed. Morgrais saw his chance to protect Kelly, a cross road before the church.

He quickly leap ahead of Kelly, and saw the prefect way to get Kelly back out of harms way, Strung between two light posts was a banner "Annual Egg Festival", he drew his pistols and with one giant leap from the last building he fired serveral shots are the banner, striking the cords holding it. The banner flew down just as Kelly passed under, catching the banner in her wheels as she did so. Until she was flung from the bike (at a slower speed of course ;) ), landing on the pavement in a unconseounce state.

Morgrais quickly jump to his feet and grabbed the girl just as the two demon hunters pull up. He drew one of his pistols and was switching aim between the two,

"Back Off Demon Hunters, This is not your place"

Vellal's carbine was already in her hands, pointing at the halfbreed's head. "This is foolish," she said quietly. "You cannot defend her alone, believe me. All of hell's demons want her dead, and one halfbreed is nowhere near enough to protect her. Even now, you cannot kill both of us before one of us kills either you or her. There are many powerful demons abroad, one of which as cut the power, and all of them will reincarnate in due course, should they even fall once. And they have allies of all kinds. I serve mankind, and mankind cannot fall- if she is killed, all hell will come to earth. And she and you together are not enough. We want her alive. And I hate you and all you stand for, but I can recognise what needs to be done- she must stay alive, and be protected, with all the strength possible, and if that means we must ally, then we should. Our differences must not prevent us from protecting her- from angels and demons, and from herself."

Her tone changed slightly. "That's also why I need my sword back," she said calmly. "I can handle it far better than she ever could, and it is a demon weapon- without arcanum and use of my blessed sheath, it is dangerous. I need it back, and she needs it away from her."

Leo snorted derisively; Edala halting beside the halfbreed casually as Leo took aim with his already-drawn pistols; in a flash, he could fill both of them with anointed bullets before ever having to reload. The halfbreed was more individually powerful than either of he, or Vellal - but there were two of them. Whichever way he darted - and he would have to, for he certainly couldn't down both of them simultaneously - one pistol wasn't enough to get past his little 'holy defence' - the crucifix in time to stop himself from getting blasted to pieces by the two of them. It rather amused him how the he was repeatedly 'protected' by the power of a god whose power he incessantly mocked and defied.

"Oh, please, halfbreed - spare me the 'holier-than-thou' lecture. But aren't you on the wrong side?" He smirked slightly, ever-watchful for any coming up from behind him, or of the half-demon's own motions. "Shouldn't you be up there, hunting us, with the rest of your pitiful, condescending and arrogant kind...rather than down in the dity with us humans? And while you sit and tell us where it is or is not our place, mutual enemies of ours - though I would sooner shoot myself in the foot than call you friend - gather."

Leo turned from the demon, and spurred Edala away, into one of the wider alleys, where he dismounted amidst the chaos - a family in an adjacent house were screaming as a demon acted out its desires and impressed its will upon them (Leo turned his head away in disgust), and circled through the alley - knowing his uncanny ability to not be noticed would keep him from attracting undue attention before the fatal shot - drawing his hunting rifle once more...another anointed bullet entered the chamber, and he took aim...

"I suggest you never mess with mankind again," Vellal said shortly. She fired, throwing herself backwards off Aola as she pulled the trigger, the shot streaming towards the halfbreed's face. She hit the floor clumsily, rolled, and raised her gun again, firing as fast as the trigger mechanism would allow.

OOC: Sorry. But its for the greater good of mankind. :D

Morgrais' demon blood, even though he hated it as such was his savor that night, within the second the human press the trigger Morgrais knew its movements and direction and move his body inreaction, although he was fast enough to dodge most of the bullets one had clip his left shoulder, and its anoitment burned Morgrais' flesh.

By this time, he had drop Kelly and was lying lifeless on the ground.

Morgrais, You Get Up, You can beat these Demon Hunters, Just dont Kill them this time and all will be fine

As the two demon hunters began two walk off, happy with their "kill", Morgrais Slowly rose. Drawing his pistols, and pressing the button along the side to release thier blades.

Without warning Morgrais Fired two shoots, both aimed at the Humans knees, Striking one in its target while the other somehow missed, must be shielded or something. After which Morgrais closed in for some close combat with Bladed Guns in hands.

OOC: If we going to fight, then lets fight

OOC: We aren't supid enough to walk away. That's power gaming. Our characters have killed pleanty of demons over time and have learned *never* to walk away- you cna never tell when they bastards are dead, ayia? In any case, you just controlled our characters, which is bad. ;) Our manuver, while underhand, was completely legal. So we'll play from here, but our characters were *expecting* this.

IC: Vellal walked away. But she didn't relax. This was a demon. They weren't that easy to kill- unless they made a mistake, of course. Two shots rang out; she felt a bullet graze her knee, and Leo grunt with pain- but that was irrelevant- she span in an instant, aimed her shotgun at the snarling half-blood bearing down on her, and pulled the trigger. The recoil threw even her reasoned shoulder back- the anointed rounds punched into the creature's chest, burning as they went with the blessings of that hated God. At this range, the creature caught the full fury of the blast, thrown headlong backwards- what wouldn't have been? She advanced again, gun poised for a second shot- ready for the unlikely possibility that the creature could tolerate having its chest reduced to so much pulp, riddled with blessed silver. Just in case, she drew her holy sword and held it with the other hand, ready for a lethal blow.

Leo smirked slightly, gritting his teeth through the searing pain of the demon's shot as it blasted through his knee. It wasn't like he wasn't expecting it - if the demon had honestly expected the pair of them to be walking away without regard for the demon behind them, he was a fool. And even more of such for attempting to take advantage of a perceived weakness...and for actually buying into Vellal's brilliantly conceived and supposedly spontaneous speech. In truth, it had worked like a charm on no less than a dozen supposed servants of 'good'.

He spun as he fell to his knees, eyes widening almost imperceptibly as it came at them, slowly, staggering through the blast the anointed round had struck in his shoulder - it had become a festering miasma of flame, igniting with blessed fury and raging against the fire of the demon's own blood. His own shot, and he was rather proud of it. Even halfbreed demons couldn't evade his marksmanship particularly well; fullborn, being both typically bulkier and normally slower, virtually never did.

He laughed openly, ignoring the pain in his knee - he'd felt worse, hard as it may have been to believe for most - as Vellal's shotgun burst, with its distinctive click, click, boom! blasted into the aberration's chest, smashing the thing back with a burst of holy fire and sheer kinetic force. Leo grinned, struggling to his feet and failing through the wound in his knee. The pain was tolerable...but not when he tried to stand. Shearing lances of fire rushed up his leg, numbing his mind in a raging weal of agony; Edala nudged up against him, and he pulled himself up onto her frame gratefully, wincing painfully as he did so.

"Let's just...argh...grab this one and get the hell out of here before any more of these accursed angels show up. Nice - uh - bit of bullshit back there, by the way..."

He trailed off and was silent as blood rushed down his leg and Edala broke into a canter, before sprinting forth once more, along with Vellal, who joined him in less than an instant, the Key slung brutally onto Aola. Off in the distance, the Church's waning light glimmered faintly...

Vellal muttered something to Aola, who carried on riding, then swivled in the saddle to face behind her, carbine raised to take advanatage of the first sign of movement. He wasn't doing that again. "You watch around, and watch the girl. First sign of conciousness, warn me or club her. That isn't happening again. Glad you liked the speech, too. I do pride myself on my oratory. Now lets get to that church before something else happens."

And her demonsword was in its proper place on her belt, too.

OOC: What you actually think that was really funny? I thought it was a cliched as hell. Oh well.

At this moment Josh and Daniel came running out of a nearby alley.

Josh was looking over his shoulder and crashed into Vellal's horse.

Josh picked himself up and dusted himself off before saying, "Oh its you again. I was hoping to run into you lot. Anyway a rather dangerous sounding demon named legion is chasing us and since we're not insane demon hunters like you lot are I figured you would have a little more luck with the damn things then us. Good luck and let me know how that comes out."

He and Daniel continued running as the Legion Demon came out of the alley way with a rather evil simile on his/her/its face.

Morgrais, Get up, Its not your turn to die, not today, It seems I under estimated others in this, no matter. You will be able to full fill your mission once again. It seems that our foes carry weapons with them capable of killing those they shouldn't, but not to worry. For I have a plan, It is your Human side which at fault and since your dead, its easily replaced. So from hence forth you will be Half-Angel Half-Demon, drawing energies from both sides to enable you to protect the girl, now wake Up Morgrais

Suddenly Morgrais' body twiched, then again until he rose to his feet, he looked down at his chest, nothing, no wounds no blood just his cloak. Something was different, but he couldnt put his finger on it. Somehow he felt clammer, more at peace, but also he could still fell the evil inside, but it was more even.

In other news- your character has actually got worse against me and Sev. :D Angel weaknesses ftw. So, yeah, I've no problems with it.

IC: Vellal stared at the running human, then at the Legion, then came to her decision. "Let's get to that Church! Fast!" She clapped spurs to Aola and they leapt away, the Legion falling behind but not losing sight of them. The light of the Church rapidly approached as they closed the last few streets and raced onto the holy grounds. The demon snarled as it tried to appraoch, but was warded off by the strength of the sancuary. Vellal fired a trio of shots at it as it loped away, probably calling for its brethren. She bodily grabbed the Key-Soul and kicked the doors of the church open, leading Aola inside.

There was a priest there, staring in bewilderment at her. She smiled thinly. "We seek sanctuary against the demons that stalk this city," she said. "We are demonhunters, but there are too many for now. And we had to bring her," she indicated Kelly "to safety. And to protect her. I fear there is a demon in her- she makes no sense, I had to knock her out. But she is the key to this, and if we can just find a way to purify her, then that should end this madness. In the meantime, we must wait till daylight, and this is the safest place."

Leo touched down from Edala with an audible grunt, and slumped to the ground.
"Bastard demon," he muttered under his breath, before the horse nudged him with her nose and cantered off, into the cemetery surrounding the church...it was still technically holy ground, so the demons wouldn't be able to come for her there. It was, at least, a blessing - one of the few he could claim to have. On his one good knee, Leo winced as blood already started to stain the earth below.

"Oh, my..." the preacher started, making for Leo - ignoring the pointed venomous glance the demonhunter shot his way - and draped him over his shoulder, supporting Leo and taking him inside the church, even as he muttered a few verses of his holy book to steady himself.

Had Leo not been a demonhunter devoted to the war against angel - and demon - kind, he would have been in awe of the immense cathedral and its resplendent decorations, and would perhaps have prayed at the foot of one of the many statues, carved in the likeness of innumerable saints. A recorded chorus sung out softly, choiral music filling the hall, as the faint glimmers of moonlight filtered through the stain glass windows, illuminating the old priest's visage as he answered Vellal.

"Possession, you say...?" He fumbled with a pair of old reading glasses, then examined the female demonhunter quizzically. "Touched, I think you are. But whether you are touched by God, Lucifer...or another force entirely, I cannot say..."

He set Leo down on one of the many tables, peeling back the lean hunter's trouser leg to reveal a bloody mess where his kneecap had once been. The preacher's head recoiled slightly, though not nearly as much as many others would have done. When he spoke, it was with a heavy heart.
"Ah...I'm sorry, my boy, but there's nothing I can do for your leg."
"I'll be fine. Just give me the night." Leo shot back irritably, insisting on looking down upon his knee to examine his injury; of course, there was little there for him to see but a pool of dark blood.
"How...?" The preacher began to ask, but it was clear from his expression that he already knew what Leo meant: arcana. Sorcery.

He slumped back against one of the old, wooden stools before the altar to God, and eyed Leo wearily.
"Then it is as I feared...that girl -" he gestured at Kelly, "She is not possessed, is she?" He paused, observing Vellal's reaction. "I thought not."

"Perhaps, then, it is good that this girl has fallen into the hands of humans, rather than either side of this conflict. Oh, believe me, I serve the Lord's word - but even I am capable of understanding...when this war is so close to being lost. Our Father, who art in Heaven...is not so omnipotent...but you - both of you - already know this. After all...if he were such, would Lucifer have not been smote at the earliest moment of his defiance? But he was not...and that led me, and many of my Order, into doubt. And now, that doubt has been proved true. Heaven itself is no longer truly safe; in time, the legions of Hell will break through even these last, hidden refuges and burn us all at the stake..."

The old preacher's slightly wrinkled face fell silent, mouth half open, unable to speak. He simply stood, his body terse and rigid, and shoved the top of the wooden altar forcefully; the top half slid back entirely, cracking on the floor with a violent sound that reverberated through the hallowed halls.

"I think - ah - God might frown on that, preacher,"
"Oh, my child, God will forgive this minor intrusion upon the sanctity of but one altar. If I were not to do this, it would cost all of us far more."

He reached into the thing's dusty recesses, and pulled out a pair of books. One, he threw to Leo; the injured hunter caught it awkwardly. The other, he tossed over to Vellal, who caught it with a bit more dexterity than her acolyte. The priest pointed shakily at Leo's.
"A forbidden tome, that one - the Lore of Arcana. Many condemn the arcane arts as works of the devil...much of the time, they would be correct. This, too, was condemned...but wrongfully. Read it, learn its secrets - then use them for the good of all. This is power, and I leave it to you, before the Devil claims me as he wills, and I go to my Father's grace in Heaven."

Then, he turned to Vellal.
"You - hunter, inquisitor, seeker - whatever name I give to you, I know you will find this of use. It is the truth of recent events - the condemned prophecies, the Lost Prophets - the build up to the rise of Hell. Here, and now. You may find your truth within...or you may yet find more pain. I do not know...I cannot claim to have read it...and I cannot be sure that I would wish to, either. The Progress of Truth - may it aid your own search..."

"This, I think, will be my last blessing. This marks my last deed, that which I do for God, to honour the sacrifices he has made for us. Now, I repay him with my own blood, and the offering of these weapons, and codices of truth to you. Perhaps you lie outside of his grace; perhaps you do not. I cannot claim to know his will - but I do know that he would wish for you to save mankind. If I may ask but one thing of you in return, it would be to implore you to not judge him so harshly when you see the actions of his children - both you and the seraphim. Neither of you are perfect...and nor, I believe, is he, though his power dwarfs our own...but even that might may not be enough, in the end. I have more to give...but I do not know if I can bless the seraphim as I do you, though my other gifts are for them. We shall see..." he trailed off, then added darkly, "...we shall all see,"

"As for the two of you..." he looked to Daniel and Josh, "...if you wish to read what lies within these tomes, then do so - though I wonder how many could use its secrets, you are all welcome to make the attempt..."

Then, he fell quiet and was silent, falling into brooding and a melancholy quiet that could not be broken except when someone addressed him directly...but even that was answered with a short, one-word answer.

Tim kept following the two men, after they met with Vellal, and the others, he had finally found Kelly too, he proceeded to the church with them, keeping a safe distance behind.

The church's light was impressive, and the cadles within marked it out, it would attract demons too no doubt, and even it's walls can't stand the attack of demons.

He leapt down fromt he roof, in front of the church, and walked through, slightly damp from the night's new rainfall.

"Father! How good to see you remain faithful in such dire times, how is the girl?" He said paying no attention to the Demonhunters or civilians.

Vellal shrugged. "A wisdom all too rare, father," she said quietly. "I apologise for lying, then. It is something I must do all to often in my quests." She placed the book carefully on a table, then fed Aola with some forage strapped to his saddle. She likewise let the horse drink, then did so herself. "I have a little food," she said calmly. "I suggest we all eat. I don't know how long we have before the siege begins in earnest." She put her back to a retsing Aola, bit into a hunk of stale bread, and opened the offered book.

First came God, born of nothing, master of all. Then came Lucifer, born too of nothing. These two powers were at first aglined, and under their will, the universe came into being. That work was great and complex, that of aeons, and though their powers were great, the creation was always marred by an imperfection. For while both were incredibly powerful, they were still inherently marred- both good and evil lay within them. God believed that the two were not enough- the universe would still be imperfect for as long as there was only two Guardians of it. Lucifer disagreed, but nontheless joined God in the venture. Much of their initial power was spent, creating the angels, divine custodians under the will of their two masters. First came the Angels Gabrial and Bezel, and his powers were far stronger than the others, the forerunner of his kind, and he learned much of his new masters. Then came the others.

But while the angels now added their watchful eyes and growing wisdom to the enterprise, and things were much improved, there was not enough to attend to all the problems of the world. More were needed, but the Two Lords could not afford to dilute their power any further. And they and their servants were still marred by imperfection. That was when Lucifer suggested the second project, that of mankind. Unlike angels, these beings would reproduce, and their latent energy could become the next generation of angels as they died. God agreed on one condition- the adverse energy that was an inherent part of the Two Lords would not be part of mankind. Lucifer disagreed at this, for it would dilute the benine powers of the Lords in greater proportion to their manevolence- but it was done, though he protested.

First came Adam and Eve, and they like Gabrial were far greater than those that came after them. They lived for a thousand years. But while they were uncorrupted, Lucifer feared that things were only getting worse and offered the humans the rest of their inheritance. They accepted and became as angels, impure. God was furious, and in his wrath wrought great damage apon Eden, the jewel of the universe, before Lucifer could stop him. This place was renamed earth, and it was no longer pure.
And now both Lords could see the corruption spreading. Angels were powerful, and mankind was weak- and so it was ruled that angels could never draw human blood, and never come to earth by day. In this way, earth would belong to mankind, and the angels could not seek to conquer them.

The third project was of God's design. He deeply regretted the destruction of Eden and feared that the imperfection of the Two Lords was becoming a danger. He proposed a solution- he would take on all the manevolence of Lucifer, and give all his benine nature in return, and then be sealed away, and likewise half the angels would take and give of their natures and fall with him into this new realm, hell. Lucifer agreed, but claimed it was God that should rule- fitting for the firstborn to inherit the universe. And so the pact was struck, the deed was done, and Lucifer became purest evil, and God purest good. All good humans would go to God as angels, all evil to Lucifer to be imprisoned. And Lucifer was sealed away and forgotten.

That the balance, supposedly so perfect, was corrupted, is self evident. Perhaps it rooted back to that first mistake, to make mankind pure and so sap the holy strength. Even I cannot say, and my master will not tell. Lucifer, the unrecognisable, and his servant Bezen, began to erode the bonds that binded him to his realm, and his minions grew stronger. That was but the first sign, that the plan was faltering. That downwards spiral is the rest of this mortal work, so that mortals my know. A mortal body writes this, but the words are mine- Gabrial.

Vellal closed the book and wondered. Madness. Almost certainly madness. Utter nonesense. She sincerly hoped it was just utter nonesense...

Father Halworth looked back and forth between the newcomer demon and the angel, eyes barely registering a flicker of surprise. He nodded wearily at the seraphim, eyes almost glazed and passive; the demon, he ignored for the moment.

"Aye, my faith is yet my shield...though I wonder for how much longer such will remain. As for Kelly...I cannot tell you. I would doubt even that our Lord knoweth what passes through her mind in this dark hour. If we were to seek our answers to that question, it would require an invasion of her mind - and that, I will not sanction. Not here; in this holy place, I will not allow any of you to forsake the ideals that brings all of us here as guardians of truth - no matter what hatreds you may hold for each other."

Then, finally, he noticed the new, demonic arrival.
"And we come to you. Would you tell us your tale, before you ask us of ours? You perhaps have more of a story to tell than of us...and more of a justification is needed for you than for any of these others. Your heritage deems you a monster, but I can see that the beast of your birth does not hold sway over your present. Yet still, the question remains, and it must be answered before we do: who are you, and why did you come here?"

Off behind the preacher, Leo was already deep within the pages of the Lore of Arcana, reading and deciphering the runic language from the notes the preacher - or perhaps another who had held the tome before him - had made within its pages, and the book's own english writing. It was a strange amalgamation, with some inscriptions deciphered, with meanings and effects - there were few that did not have some form of addendum to state the elemental force of the invocation, or some description of the potential effects. The opening few paragraphs, perhaps, were some of the more intriguing verses, written in a scrawl that seemed almost unmistakably demonic, and yet not.

And so this book falls to you, perhaps a seeker of knowledge or a devotee of truth. If readeth this a mere scholar, then within, thou shalt find no truth, nor purchase, nor strength veiled here. But if you are more than your peers - if the blood of the sorcerer flows in your heart and soul - seeketh thou arcana, and arcana thou shalt find. Within these pages lie knowledge, weapons, and the means to overturn the heart, body, mind and soul...but take heed, for the secrets of arcana seldom make distinctions between malice and benevolence...and one may as easily use what lieth within as a tool for evil, if the sorcerer's blood within them lays.

The principle foundations of arcana are simple and concrete: power, affinity, and knowledge. Power is simple; it is a measure of the soul, and a measure of the inheritance of the wielder's bloodline. Affinity is a natural predilection for certain schools, arts and elements. Knowledge, again, aids all and serves none. One with greater knowledge may confront one with greater power, or affinity. But knowledge is far less concrete than the others; any can acquire it, but affinity is entirely innate, and power waxes and wanes over the course of one's life, though it typically ascends with age, causing one's power to be at its height when wisdom is also, for if this were not the case, destruction is thus invited upon far more than the mage who dares touch arts he cannot comprehend...

Vellal watched the newcomers with interest, but without apparent hostility. This was not the time and place for bloodshed. Nonetheless, she kept her guns close as she read on. It was a grim tale, of an endless downwards spiral.

This follows the second wrath, as it is called. It was this that cataclysed the third project, but it is not perhaps as great as the events described before, for only one part of the earth suffered and not all. Rather, it shows our fallibility, and weakness, which nearly destroyed us.

Both God and Lucifer were horrified by the destruction of Eden, when they came to their senses. The Two Lords spent long apart, pondering what they had done- me with God, and Bezen with his master Lucifer. In good time they returned, and both believed they had a solution to our problems.

God said that the weakness of the projects were obvious- in delegating their strengths, power was falling to those who could not control it. What had been done was enough, there would be no more- if God and Lucifer controlled a majority power, they could act against any lesser beings who fell.

Lucifer believed the exact opposite. He said this was madness. He believed the key was delegation- that if sufficent power was vested in mortals, there would be no one strong enough to wreak havoc as in Eden. He said they must create more races, peoples seperate from cradle earth, living in distant stars, and invest their power in this. He pointed to Eden as evidence enough that they could not control their strength, but God would not condone the proposal, maintaining inaction as the best course. The debate raged for weeks, with both sides growing wrothful.

Bezen and I stood by the opinions of our masters, and while they talked beyond our ken we debated from our perspective, with rising fury. I confess I grew angry- and then we discovered that Lucifer had already created the progenitors of the new line, thinking God would agree. God was furious- he had them brought to him, and would execute them. Lucifer railed against this insult to his creations, but Bezen took more direct action, charging the angels who held them. I confess I myself lost control, and we duelled furiously, our retuines fighting with us. I drew Bezen's blood as he drew mine, and our followers died on each other's swords, and when the Two Lords claim, each side claimed their right, and the wrong of the others. Lucifer stood by Bezen, God by me, and in his fury, killed the progenitors in an instant. Lucifer was reduced to utter wroth, and said he would right the wrong mankind had been, if God was to be the dictator of the universe.

Lucifer came to earth, and called the elements to his will with a fury. He raised the waters of the world, to kill all humans. Bezen was horrified, and sought to prevent this- God had retreated to his tower and would do nothing, say nothing, only wait in fury for the return of his brother. For fourty days and fourty nights he brooded, as mankind drowned- save for me and Bezen, who despaired of our error and its concequences. We came to the dream of "Noan", a leader of men, and taught him the wrought of a great boat, and so he was saved. And then we went to our leaders, and begged them to reconsider. For fourty days and fourty nights they stayed their course, and at last repented, their wrath cooling to despair. Mankind was alive in that land but for our transgression, and it was clear that neither Lord was free of taint. Likewise the dangers and blessings of minions was undecided- Bezen and I had caused the tragedy and then averted it. But something had to be done. This was the origin of the third, fatal project.

Swooping down the demon lord arrived on the top of the museum. The flames of the original artillery strike lapping up at the structure but still had not yet consumed the form of the building but many irreplaceable works had been consumed in the interim.

”The grail is not here, it has been moved…”

The stench of demon and angel permeated his senses as he glanced into the surroundings. The city still dark with twilight he could only see the legion reeking havoc across the city while the corpse of an angel brought a smile to his face. Such is the power of heaven… meaningless and fickle.

Sirens of police, medical and firefighters began to echo over the screams of the hapless people being tormented by the legion as smaller fires and rioting was breaking out in the twilight. Only the eventual arrival of the sun would put an end to this night for the time being. Taking flight once more the demon set out for the local library.

OOC: ark, Kelly sees your guy as a odd looking angel, what else would Ivan trust?

Kelly woke with her hand on her head. Her waist was sore, as was the arm that she had been holding a sword in earlier. Why hadn't Ivan woke her? Why was she just feeling this pain now? Ivan must have shielded her from it, so she could act. Wait, this was the church. Thank God! She saw Vellal and Leo, but there were a few others. Mostly she saw her preacher, one of her best friends. "That bike was possesed, why else would it go without a key in it? Trying to knock me off that evil thing." She staggered when she tried to stand, but she was able to walk. She noticed that she didn't see that other angel. All the past events just caught up with her, and her emotions took over. Tears rolled down her face. Don't you cry Kelly, don't you let yourself cry. Your safe now, what would Ivan say? Why wasn't Ivan talking to her, ever since she was out. She wipped her tears away. "Where is that other angel? Where is he?" She saw a gash in Leo's knee. From a deamon or... oh. "I can mend that for you, I'm taking medical classes and I was looking for a certian book by Ula Temi, a great doctor. She only write one, and it was sent to that measum. But then I found," Kelly paused. The minute she touched that grail all of this started happening. She could give it to them but, it just didn't seem right. Like, it somehow chose her. It neglected these people, and made her want to run out the doors. This was a church, why wasn't it happy? She would stay, but that thought came with a grimmace. "I found a intresting painting, and then this all started happening. Why do you want me? What is it that makes me different?" She still couldn't accept Ivan's explaination for some reason.

And I do not know how to close the gate. Yet. But if the demons get you, then we are all doomed. So don't do anything stupid, okay? This place will suffice as protection for now, unless a very powerful demon comes- in which case we would be dead anyway. So get some rest and don't get in our way. You see the key is the only thing capable of opening i and the only thing capable of closing it, at the moment the hole is opening, and her death would open it fully, her blood being that trigger, I am afraid I have no idea how she could reverse the steps that have begun, i do however know it is all linked in with the Grail. Leo glanced at Vellal, softly shaking his head. Then, he turned to Kelly, looking at the girl for what seemed like the first time. Through all the piety, through her facade of determination...she truly was just a scared, young woman without a way to make the pain go away again. He reflected bitterly on his own past; after his home was shattered, he'd forgotten just how frail most people truly were...there wasn't much compassion within him anymore; most every positive thing inside him was reduced and cast about like a leaf in the tempest of his anger...but what little shards of light within him stirred to life at the moment, and he smiled warmly at Kelly, interrupting the angel's questions.

"Don't worry about me, or my injuries - I'll be fine, and even if I weren't, you've suffered enough...I wouldn't put you through having to watch yet another person suffer...even if you'd like to smash said person over the head with a crowbar right now. Suffice to say, you might hate me for my choice of enemies, and indeed, friends. But I have my reasons for seeing things the way I do, and they're good ones. Just...get some rest, okay? You're of no use to anyone without sleep, and you won't get much of that after tonight, I'll wager. Just be careful, keep your head down, and you'll get through this...even if I and the others don't."

Then, he turned to the angel, face returning to its typical, stoic expression.
"Angel, perhaps it would be better to simply let her rest for a time, yes? If virtuous you truly are, then you would grant her at least this respite. She won't be able to do much closing of anything if she's half-dead on her feet,"

Vellal seriously considered decapitating the newcomer. But that would draw rather unwanted questions. "Be very careful," she warned the others instead. "That is a half-demon. He claimed to be guarding the Key-Soul. We do not trust such beings with our only hope, and so we killed him. Even now, amongst us all, I do not trust him. If he should strike down her, then we would be doomed. Be very careful in letting trust become the better part of common sense and prudence."

THAT was when the taxi went through the wall, and everything changed. Vellal whistled and mounted Aola, shifting the horse behind what cover there was to be had. Her carbine was in her hands. She brought it up lightning fast and opened fire, hoping those closer than her, especially the newcomer, would distract the creatures from her. "Those are what I term the Big Bastards," she said to the room at large. "They take a lot of killing, and they won't stop until we're all dead. So I hope we all can fight."

"Fight? I have no intenion of doing such a thing, all i can do is make these demons very sorry for their actions, but feel free to point out any undead to em as i can deal with their problems easily." With that Tim leapt outside, his clothes changed from a suit to a robe of purest white, the demons cowered slightly from it's form. Tim ducked and weaved from the gaze of the enemies, and the rubble they were throwing.

Approaching a larger one he muttered a prayer,

"Unto the Lord I deliver thee",

He jumped up onto it and grabbed it by the horns, it shook violently then calmed, its short screams peircing the surroundings,

"Come into the light, accept the divine grace of the first,",

Light poured from his eyes and mouth, the Demons own eyes did the same and the creature raised his claws to his head, clenvhing his own skull,

"accept the truth of the last",

A light struck out from the heavens, striking the Demon, Tim leapt off, the light slowed the Demona nd burned away its evil features. Within seconds all of it had changed into a dark cloud. Slowly the light filtered through the dark cloud, purifying it. Witht he last dying beams of the holy light the Demon ahd gone.

"Amen." Tim said and looked to the other Demons.

One hurled a piece of rubble at him, it broke on contact and fell to the ground. Tim standing defiantly before it smiling. A more intelligent Demon dug through the surrounding earth and procured a large rock, and simply threw it at Tim.

Tim was sent flying back into the church wall parts of it crumbling around him.

Valuable, irreplaceable maybe, but nothing in the library was offering itself to the demon with possibility of answering his query if texts stored in this city would possibly lead him to the grail.

”Ashes to ashes… dust to dust.” Spoke the demon lord as flame erupted around him setting the library ablaze. Launching himself through the roof his black feathered wings carrying him up into the sky he set out for the church clearly illuminated in the distance. He should have arrived there first but careful planning and elimination of possible damages to his planning took first measure.

”Follow me you foolish legion.” He commanded to a group of a dozen or so of the miniature demons. As he advanced towards the church already he could see the three behemoth demons advancing towards it. For now he would wait and let the minions flesh out what lied inside.

Arriving on a nearby building he simply faded into the background and watched the events take place as the legion demons he had previously alerted began to snowball drawing more of their kind as they approached the holy structure snowballing in numbers.

Leo snarled, wrenching himself to his feet with a searing pain. He muttered a line from 'Lore of Arcana', numbing the agony - true healing would have to wait. He drew both pistols, checked that their clips were full, then stepped forward in front of Kelly. It wasn't an act of heroism as he was used to - but then, nothing about the entire damn situation could be called normal.

"Stay down, don't move, and call if you need someone," he said softly, even then drawing a bead on the shadows, sighting for any visible sign of motion. Edala trotted close, then nudged his shoulder and fell behind him and the others.

"Now let's do this - and master demonhunter? Like the sound of that...but not if it gets me killed."

He opened fire, anointed rounds searing the air and blasting into demons...and for the first time in so long, he averted his trails of fire from the angels. Several erupted in holy fire, shattering, breaking and flailing to the ground in heaps, shards and piles - each was afflicted in its own way, though most were simply burned alive. He advanced to the fore, slowly and grimly, stopping only to reload and take precise aim on the demons. But there were many...so many, and even his formidable abilities were not enough; they were only so effective because the demons were, in a gross betrayal of their typical character, coming at the group in waves...belying exactly how dear the Grail was to them.

"Preacher, if you have some form of escape route, it'd be dearly appreciated right now!" He yelled back, costing him a deep gash across his left arm; he dropped the pistol as his arm went limp; the others, all around him, were fighting and suffering to stave off the horde, but both he and they knew it would not be enough. He bent down to grab the gun with his free hand, holstering it and sparing it even as another talon raked along his back, dropping him to the rubble of the wall's ruins...he staggered once more to his feet, bleeding and filled with pain, though he kept fighting, one pistol blazing his vengeance at the demon horde for the cause...

...for the good of all humankind, unto his death...

Vellal sighed. Aola could do a lot, but sewers was where the line was drawn. "I'll rearguard," she said calmly. "And follow on after everyone's gone." Calculated cowerdice and Aola's manuvering had left her unscathed, still spraying the enemy with a storm of carbine fire. She jinked the reins, Aola intuitively stepping backwards towards the exit as she continued to precisely shoot at the nearest targets. The demons were suffering on this holy ground, but it would not suffice to stop them. She trusted the guiding words of arcanum and Aola's own not insignificant intelligence to guide him through, when the time came to dismount and let him escape as best he could, ready for her call. But she could make preparations.

She momentarily trusted her allies to hold back the horde, and splashed the horse with holy water as they passed it. That done, she drew her holy sword, and lightly cut arcanum runes in the horse's skin, simulatenously chanting litanies of protection that were terror to demons. Perhaps the greatest defence would be that the horse would be of no interest at all to demons, being inhuman- but if it was, Aola would at least cause great pain to one in his final moments. That task complete, she continued to shoot at the demons, reloading methodically as they beat their withdrawl.

"Thanks," she closed her eyes, its what they did in the movies. She tried to close out everthing else to, but the grail. It worked for some reason, she found herself in a black plane with the grail. She wanted to live, and wanted the deamons to leave or die. She poured her very thoughts in the grail. She began to speak words she didn't know or ever say before, but she knew their meaning. Her eyes opened. Nothing happened. What had Tim said, her blood? She bite her arm and let the blood drop into the grail. The blood merged, and so did the grail. She felt its power and presence, it very meaning and existance. She was a weapon, and the angel's would use her. But it would help both mankind and the angels. These deamon hunters, they were her friends, she saw it clearly now. She went back to the black plain and rechanted the words. This time when she opened her eyes, several beams of pure and holy light erupted from the grail, striking the deamons and causing them to implode from the impact of the light. Kelly fully understood now. The grail was talking to her, and she would listen to it, as it was her. Not to Ivan or anyone else. Swooping back before the light engulfed the area the demon lord was not pleased. Much of the demons he had rallied to this location laid reduced to ash and dust.

”Mortals of this world heed my call. Assemble your weapons and march on my location.” Using mental control the unwitting humans in a one block raidus those privy to his call went blank with expression and followed his orders. Picking up household items, brooms, rakes, and shotguns they walked out the front doors of their houses and began stumbling towards the church completely under the influence of the demon lord.

”Holy powers of god may protect them from me for the interim but not against the easily corruptible forces of humanity.” Those weak to the powers of suggestion were under the strongest grasp others fell out of his grasp as they stumbled closer towards the church. By the end only a few dozen of the original hundred summoned had arrived at the front of the church armed with an assortment of weapons and from various walks of life. If killed they would return as demons filled with rage about being slain, should they complete their objectives they would be killed anyway and arise as angels but that would not help the world in the time being.

Leo glanced around at the encroaching humans; the situation was not looking good. And the girl - damn her - had unleashed the power of the Grail, and would likely attract yet more demons in the process. In any case - he kept fighting, blessed rounds blazing around him like a firestorm as he kept the enemy away from himself; though he was stumbling as he retreated, his wound paining him even as he made for the tunnel; another demon, fiery and incandescent with rage as its quarry escaped, descended upon him, claws burning with unholy fire as it reared back its head and unleashed a torrent of dark flame at Leo's body - he fell backwards and landed on the rubble, a spike jutting out impaling him in the back as he landed.

He grunted in pain, though still managed to loose the rest of both clips into the demon's writhing form; the holy flame consumed dozens of parts of its body, and it screamed - but yet it lived, and it dove again onto the immobilized Leo. He drew both blades, even as he struggled to right himself, muttered a weaving incantation that imbued both blades with the fury of winter - and stabbed upwards at the demon as it closed. Its fire quelled instantly, a hissing sound the only herald of the creature's doom...its fiery form, now little more than a black, formless hulk of jagged flesh, slumped to the ground and did not move. And amidst the chaos, Leo dragged himself to his feet, feeling the hole in his body where the spike released him...there was a vast emptiness inside him, and the bitter cold of the night washed over him as never before.

He turned, and ran - there was nothing there for him now. He took up the Lore of Arcana, and with it, hurled himself towards the tunnel, stumbling into the darkness even as a blood haze began to cloud his vision from his many wounds. He didn't even know if he could live through it...before, there had been certainty. Now, there was only doubt. And he knew that wherever fate would take him, nothing was safe anymore. Not even the angels, in their high home, could claim to have any true refuge from the horror of existence.

"Down...in the dirt...again..." then he slumped to the soft earth within the tunnel, barely breathing and scarcely alive.

Kelly heard Leo fall down behind her. She ran up to him. No medical training she had got could prevent his soon death, but the grail might. She shut her eyes and repeated the process, giving her will of Leo's life and need of her and the grail's protection. She let the force flow over her, and then opened her eyes. Her own angelic song had ended, but from its end another light came from her hands and flew into Leo's damaged body. The wound closed up and the nerves healed themselves of pain, tissue grew from nothing and the body began to work once again as if it was never even scratched. Tiredness left Leo, and his mind sharp once again. Kelly looked at herself. The light had come from her and the grail, hers fainter but he grail's light was also fainter then it was the first time she used it. She was merging with the power like the blood had merged with the grail. She was taking its power, and she wondered if she was human or not, or what might happen should she engulf all of its power. She felt more awakae and aware, but she could not feel herself, her mind. As if it left her. The sight of Leo's crippled body should have made her cry, as the dummies in medical school did not have such a graphic image. She had to hold on, she was losing herself.

The Shadow was the last to enter the tunnels and he sealed the way back up." I hope nobody else is coming."

Morgrias stood over the demons now dead body, it would be back alive soon, but for now it was dead. He turned to see everyone entering a small tunnel, but before he could reach it some closed the entrance

Damn them, Damn that girl, Why didn't she listen to a word I said, I saved her from the first lot of demons in the first place, then two demon hunters appear to carry her away, Damn them aswell

He had to find a way to catch up with them, he walked out in the street looking for anythig that could get himn underground when suddenly a Man weilding a lamp to a shot a Morgrais, he missed of course, but Morgrais caught a look into his eyes, Lifeless, and empty, this was no man no more. Morgrais grabbed his pistols and fired a few shots at the man's head, spraying his brains across the street. The another appeared in the coner of his eye, he quickly turned and fired, sending it to the ground. Then two more, a couple more shots and they to joined the others.

It wasn't long till Morgrais found himself surround by the mindless mass of humans. He was firing carefully aimed shots at their faces, sending them to the ground, but mroe just step over and took its place. Slowly the creeped towards Morgrais, until the began to swing thier make shift weapons. Morgrais block the first few blows, then released the blades on this pistols and began to attack the mass in a frenzy of Close combatness. With each swing and twist of the guns another mindless human fell, blood was spraying everywhere as Morgrais slowly cut his way through the mass.

Then without warning they stopped and backed off, Morgrais could feel a warm breath on his now bare neck, he turned to see a newly spawned demon, looking straight into his eyes.

"Not your Lucky Day is it" he said the beast as he cartwheeled towards it, slicing it as he did so, it soon joined the bodies on the ground. Morgrais quickly reloaded his weapons and fired more shots at the regrouping mass.

This is endless, whom ever is controlling these humans is powerful.

The Morgrais saw he escape, from just a few metres away was a storm water drain, large enough for his to fit through and hopefully reach his target; Kelly. Morgrais bursted into a jog, fired shots as he moved towards the drain, shotting the knees of the people so that the toppled over allowing him to pass over them, after he cleared the mass, a quick shot from each gun opened the grate of the drain allowing Morgrais to slide in.

"Go, boy," Vellal whispered. "Ata Ele-ai Valak. May you be guided." Aola set off abrutly, galloping across the graveyard away from the attack, Leo's horse close on his heels. They would head for the plains outside the city, and not even God knew whether they'd make it. Firing her gun, but dangerously low on ammo now, she retreated into the sewer, lighting a second torch. Evidently the grail was acting as a second source of light, but who knew what could happen?

She eyed up her erstwhile comrades, deciding that half of them at least would have to die at some point. But she needed the Key-Soul, and the Key-Soul was powerful, and there were many, both angels and demons. She was the outnumbered, the hunted here- she would have to think fast and tread very carefully to survive. Damn that halfbreed. He was not meant to reincarnate so fast. It had been a clean kill- but the supernatural came back, and kept coming back until you closed the gate. She'd have to find a way to do that.

She hurried after the others. "Do not think this place is safe," she warned Kelly in particular. "They will follow. Nor do your newfound gifts make you invincible. We are all in grave danger and our time is short. Notably, my carbine is almost out of ammunition and my shotgun is at half supply, and this may well go for others. We must survive until daybreak, and then we can take stock. Now- hurry on."

ooc: some new demons for the battle grounds, a bunch of them many of them with thanks from Akran killing civilians.

Name: Golem
Gender: ambiguous
Race: daemon
Side: evil
Appearance: 28’11” giant stone demon composed of brimstone, sulfer and molten materials. Summoned from the layers of hell itself golems possess partial immunity to most things but can still be harmed by angels if only their blades were pure enough to cut through the material. Bipedal and shaped like an ogre with bits of itself melting and falling down as it advances leaving molten footprints.
Back-story: Animated by demonic powers and occasionally serve to keep hell civilized as much as can be said.
Weapons: Molten body, fists.
Armor: Composed of molten rock, and brimstone.
Powers: Living rock golem, resistant to just about everything except water.

Name: Regret
Gender: varies
Race: daemon
Side: evil
Appearance: Varies as the regretful are human shaped demons more akin to zombies filled with rage and anger after their lives were cut horribly short. Wearing all manner of clothes they generally are wearing what they were when they perished.
Back-story: Not fully embodiments of the harsh reality of hell and not quite human enough to be half demon these monsters exist for the sole purpose of getting revenge on the living. In their minds if they are sent to hell why shouldn’t everyone else. Filled with rage and hatred killing their fellow man brings some satisfaction but brings about more of their kind as those they kill cannot be sent to purgatory or heaven for the infection of their hate makes them seek vengeance. The more they are killed the more angry they become eventually returning as full formed demons opposed to their human shapes.
Weapons: Whatever they had or can pickup.
Armor: Varies, generally not armored.
Powers: Hatred of the living is so great that it permeates those they kill turning them from possible salvation and forcing them to return as regret demons should they be summoned. To be killed by hold weapons or angels will offer them salvation ending the cycle.

------------------------

Rising from their fallen bodies regret demons began to reanimate themselves and head through the church. Their anger was so great that they cared not for the pain they felt as they traversed into the structure. As more of them perished they tainted the holy structure until it was passable. As they rose from their previous positions they began to go mad with rage seeking out innocent people to murder them without regret or a second thought while others ventured into the sewers in pursuit of the grail all at the bidding of the demon lord watching and planning.

”This will be a glorious time for our kin and kindred. They will feast upon the fresh souls of the earth and taint many. From this city the gate shall open it will only be a manner of time. Heaven itself had not even sent any of its righteous protectors to try and stay this advance.” Without rhyme or reason he spoke this aloud tempting the heavens above for a response.

”Rise from the levels of hell to the surface.” From a rapidly forming pentagon before the church the ground began to give way as the molten golem began to climb its way out of the hole. Burning footprints laid themselves in the pavement as the golem lumbered down the streets the demon lord following in the skies behind.

They would find another church and set it ablaze, then another until there were none left within the city. If this did not draw heaven’s eye not much else would. Only when heaven made this their battleground could the tide of demons bubble to the surface. The grail as much as it was necessary, should heaven force their hand and make this their battleground they would taint their holder and make it far easier to let humans get caught in the cross fire damning them as they perished in the eventual battle between angel and demon. The night may dwindle but should heaven begin their war on this plane it would be night eternal.

Oh, I'd be so stupid not to take this que Vellal reflected. But she didn't want to be caught by the advancing horde either, so she contented herself with looking suitably righteously furious, pumping a few shotgun rounds into the halfborn as the oppertunity presented itself, then retreating down the tunnel backwards, firing as she went. "You guys keep on going!" she shouted. "Get Kelly away, that's the important thing!"

Since then, he has come to the city to prevent that which will destroy the world, and he will let no one stop him.

Mike was approaching the outskirts of the city. Having tried to arrive here via bus, the bus was attacked by a rogue demon and was put off the road. Story:
Heaven had been waiting watching, only a few angels had been allowed to enter the city so far but now with the massive amount of demons in the city it was time for heaven to allow the angels to enter. Each one of the hundreds of them entering had one thing on their mind. Killing all the demons, whether they are half blood or full. A demon is a demon to them and they all must be sent back to hell.

As Mike advanced further and further into the city, the more demons he encountered and the tougher they got. The Legion demons were clearly no match for him, but their numbers could definately overwhelm him, if they had a leader. In the distance he could hear gunfire akin to that of a shotgun, and figured to go in that direction. He pulled out one of his colt's and immediately unloaded upon the demons facing him and advanced through the crowd in the direction of gunfire he heard.

OOC: I feel like dying. I'll see you guys later, ayia? ;)

Leo stumbled on his feet as he wrenched himself forcefully forward, more disturbed than he had ever been before. He felt light, and yet darkness...he had caught a glimpse of what was beyond the veil...and it terrified him. The truth terrified him. A silent, mocking voice came to him from the nascent depths of his own mind: did you honestly think that all who are virtuous, and die as such, become angels? Or that all evil men become demons? How could you fail to realize that there's something far worse than either, but that there's no gift of power that comes with it? It's the Will of the Creator - thousands must suffer so that one can live in hope and joy.

And the voice fell silent again; Leo stumbled, and fell to the dirt again without any reason to. Fatigue had left his bones, the pain was gone, and blood no longer left him through thousands of tiny cuts...death from a thousand wounds. The worst way to die. That, and betrayal from someone you love. But then, nothing to love anymore. Nothing but death...and the ashes of the past.

He dragged himself to his feet again, looking back down the tunnel at Vellal, snapping off another shotgun burst down at the halfborn...Leo didn't see whether that one lived or died. He wasn't even sure it mattered anymore. He felt like dying, despite the fact there was nothing wrong with him.

"Just go, damn you!" He yelled at Kelly, who looked at him strangely; but then, he had never understood her. "I'll just be a burden on you - get out of here, now. I can't - can't go on anymore. Just remember one thing: you're not anyone's martyr. And you're not anyone's weapon. In the end...do what feels right. Don't play by anyone's rules, and don't be swayed by anyone, not even me. Make sure we endure. Make sure humanity endures."

He turned around, holstered both pistols - he wouldn't need them, where he was going. But it still felt wrong somehow to cast them away...like it would mean he was changing, becoming something he wasn't. He drew both wakizashi blades, and advanced, every step lending him strength as he ventured closer to the threshold of death. He passed Vellal, who tried to stop him - he ignored her. He passed both halfborn, who each ignored him in turn as they struggled to evade the foes they fought; Leo had his own 'demons' to confront.

The first that came at him died; it was that simple. A casual, deceptively simple feint that the demon took in earnest, and it slumped, frosty blade edges scything into the core of the fire within the demon's heart. He kept moving, the demons coming at him alone, in pairs, then finally in trios as the world-weary demonhunter carved his way through them, arms screaming in protest before long at every deflected strike, every lunge, every parry...the battle itself was sheer, unadulterated torment as the demons, each stronger than the one before it, threw themselves at the bloodstained hurricane of his defences...and he tired, breaking despite the stakes.

But he had yet bought them time...that was enough. The demon that would be to claim his life did not even try to match him blade to blade...it simply overwhelmed him with sheer volume of power; a raging, seething incandescent tide of hatred and unadulterated loathing...infused with the innate power of the demonic, it lashed into Leo's form, casting him to the ground in a burning heap in but a second. It swept in on him; Leo drew his pistols and fired...but even that was too little, too late...the fire descended, and he knew no more.

The Shadow
28th Mar 06, 12:07 PM
"Why don't you attack demon?" Shadow said and charged towards Morgais again. One of his blades made a scracth on Morgais.
"That scent?! Your half demon! It doesn't matter. You fight for the wrong side!" He said and drew his pistols lighting quick and shooted at Morgais.

"Damn you!" Vellal screamed in sudden fury. "You stupid bastard! You stupid, useless bastard! What the hell did you think you were doing? You... damn it!" Her frame shook with passion and anger, and she turned on Kelly still burning with fury. "Never, never do that! Never do that! You seem the type- but never die, not for any cause! Not even for mankind!"

It was that point that the demon crashed through the roof. Vellal span in an instant and fired a shotgun blast at it from her position, the blessed silver round slamming into its face. "Kill it!" she ordered, with a vestige of her old calm about her. "And kill them all." She fired again, watching impassively as the demon winced from the sacred bullets, and now her tongue whispered the words of arcanum, the banishment of demons. It might hurt her demonic allies, but it would hurt this one more, and there was no such thing as a demonic ally anyway... She advanced.

OOC: I don't know how that female human was, but it wasn't me. You aren't allowed to control someone else's character anyways.

Mike finally arrived at the site of gunfire, a small tunnel that led to a church. There seemed to be no end to it either, as it kept on continueing. Immediately, he sited the source, a female, and saw what she was aiming at. She was aiming at a huge horde of demons and, by his senses, a half demon. And then something else entered his senses... a huge demon. Immediately he heard a crash, and saw a huge demon armed with a sword bathed in fire, and saw the female shoot at it with her shotgun, and began muttering something.

"Don't bother, woman.. a demon such as he would require power beyond comprehension to banish. Allow me." And drew his sword.

In demonic language Mike said, "Demon, prepare for a battle."

He rushed forward toward the monstrosity, and locked swords.

The Shadow
28th Mar 06, 12:20 PM
"Hah! Today is a good day, idiots keep coming in one by one! I sense you are a whole demon, I kill you first!"
The Shadow said and turned his fire towards the Demon, he jumped towards it and strated to slice and dice with his blades and jumping from the walls and the roof of the tunnel. The demon was confused becose Shadow was quick enough to always jump away before it striked. "How do you like this!" Shadow shoute and shot the demon with his pistols on the back of the head, and sliced with his katanas.

Edit: Grim you we're faster than me.

OOC: Would people stop patronising my character? Its blardy annoying. kthnxbi.

IC: Vellal snorted, aimed at the newcomer angel, and fired point-blank into its back. Angel or demon alike- her guns were crafted to such foes, for both kinds were her enemies. But she preferred angels- they couldn't kill her, physically. Gods, she loved that rule. The sacred round punched brutally into the angel's back, shards of the anethma silver scattered through its body. Her first shot delivered, she drew her demonsword and walked away... still tense for an attack from any source, of course. She was a demonhunter.

Edit ooc: In any case, it still sounds like he was controlling someone else's character.

Shadow, that rant was not directed at you. It was the one who said "foolish mortal, your sucky weapons do squat. Bog off while the real men handle it." ;)

Edit: And you've controlled some one else's character, Flea. Not legal, I'm afraid. Just describe the illusion, we act on it.

And Grim, that's power play. When I've described an action, indeed a legitimate action, then you can't magically undo it. Your bad for turning your back on me, it didn't kill you, never mind. But you can't just say "that didn't happen". That is, as I said, power play.

Do describe where it hit me then... and here's a hopefully good reply then.
IC: Behind Mike, he heard the sound of a shotgun loading, and then felt immense pain all around. Instinctively, he went around to some cover, hoping that the demon will keep whoever shot him busy while he figured out where he was hit. He knew it wasn't lethal, but it would still take some time to heal. "Who shot me!? And WHY!?" Mike yelled.

Leo waited in Oblivion.

The great, unfathomable maw of eternity looked back at him as he stared into the innumerable eyes of the dead; tortured souls, writhing, scorned and burned. The true dead. Those who neither made the 'ascension' to angelhood or 'fell' into demonhood. The ones who simply waited in limbo, lost forever...never again to know the gentle caress of compassion, of love...the ones who would never even know hate, for there was nothing left for them to transfer the weight of their self-loathing upon...they were not even aware of the others, Leo knew. Somehow, he simply knew, though he knew he should not. They were alone, or as good as...abandoned and cast out forever.

That was the weight of the vaunted God's crime. Condemning trillions of souls to an eternity of torment that would inevitably, upon a distant era, surpass Hell as far as true terror went...and yet still, Leo resided there, in Oblivion. He looked down upon himself, changed...there were no pure white robes of the angel, for he could not truly be called one. Instead, there was the same old trench coat he was so accustomed to, even more frayed and broken than it had been before. He flexed his back, and a pair of wings answered his impulse...feathered, white and pure. Everything he was not. Yet still, they were his...they resonated their energy in tune with his own, the pool of arcana at the edges of his soul swelling with the new power afforded him by the 'gift' of angelity.

And of course...that last 'gift', so mocking, so divine...and so utterly infuriating. The grace of 'God'. A God that sure as not would refuse him return to reality.

"You are correct. I forbid you to return to existence; your return there would interfere with my plans."

Were Leo a true angel, he would have bent knee immediately and obeyed; he would have had no choice. But he was not. And he was not in Heaven. It was Oblivion...and there, he had hope. He turned in the abyss, looking through the swirl of souls with his newly enhanced vision, sharp eyes piercing the veil with perfect clarity. He moved, his body answering him as it had never done before. He flew straight at the gate to reality, only to see it slam shut before him. He swirled at God, eyes narrowed.

"Who are you to decide whom goes where? I am your God, and I command you; obey! It is not your place to decide mankind's fate."
"And who are you to make that decision?!" Leo demanded, "Power does not give you right of command over us; nor does creation! We have our own will!"
"Fool. You will not leave here."
"We'll see."

He darted forwards, through empty space, wings tucked as he spiralled into a dive...the tendrils of God's power reached out to stop him...Leo's arcana reacted violently, aided by the plane of Oblivion...and the tendrils recoiled as if stung. The gate was before him...so close...it shut, agonisingly slowly...and Leo darted through, leaving only the incandescent howls of rage of the Creator behind.

He looked around, finding himself in the wilderness...he couldn't even see the city from whence he had came on the horizon. But it didn't matter. Its sight would return to him as he drew closer...but for now, nothing mattered. He was free again.

Vellal stared as the Shadow advanced again, screaming. She should kill the bezerker- and who would blame her? But she was somewhat aware that with Leo dead she rather rather vulnerable. She needed allies- it was an uncomfortable thought. But this individual was as good a place as any to start. She watched him with a calculating expression as he charged, parried with the butt of her gun then smashed him brutally around the head with the hilt of her demonsword. Sheathing the weapon with difficulty, she dragged the prone Shadow towards the exit. "A little help?" she asked to the world in general.

Vellal smirked from the edge of hearing. You ran in like that and screamed that at me and then fought like that against a demon with a sword like that, and you expect me to think you're a human? Forget your arcanum signature and the fact that you stand six foot seven... you're a halfborn alright, angel if I'm any demonhunter. And as for Josh's comment- she took that as a compliment. IC: "Which one?" Vellal asked savagely. "I had only one friend in this world, and he just killed himself in mythradom. If you mean the girl, she is the Key-Soul. We must save her. And while I may call a truce, it will only be for now- I will not rest until angel and demon alike have been cleansed from this land- now I say that in honesty. But I believe that demons rate a little higher above angels on my list of targets, so for now we will cooperate. As some will testify, I have an ability in dispatching the supernatural, and some knowledge as well. I will keep the Key-Soul alive because the altelnative is damnation. That is my only interets here, indeed if I believe you can keep the Key-Soul safe, then I will leave and seek those of my kind who can aid me. My weapons run low on ammunition, I tire, I need food. I am but a mortal- but I can fight and I will win."

”Our tempting of heaven has succeeded my golem.” With his fist punched cleanly through the steeple of a nearby church the golem merely turned around and glanced skyward as the fires of the impact began to consume the church.

As the demon lord moved to a nearby building he prepared himself for battle. Already several of the angels were heading towards the demon lord and his demonic servant.

”Introduce them to hellfire would you.” With a tilting of his jaw the golem breathed hellfire skyward incinerating a pair of angels caught in the demonic flames. One of them with a lance dived towards the demon in an attempt to behead the beast only to be set ablaze upon contact. The other two wiser and carrying righteous swords approached the demon lord with weapons in hand.

Far more skilled at combat then the golem but lacking the fiery defense the demon lord simply took to the skies and with one swipe of his claws de-winged the first approaching angel causing it to plummet towards the fire consumed church. The second was much more adept and was engaged in an aerial battle with the demon lord.

”Your god sends you here to perish at my hands. If only I knew sooner he would sent the grunts of heaven to perish at my hands I would have set foot on the surface sooner.” Dodging and blocking with his claws and wings the demon lord fought with the angel.

”Unfortunately I have not time to play with one of your caliber with only a pair of wings.” Moving faster with his own black wings then the angel could respond his claws quickly severed the left wing of the angel causing him to plummet earthward. The last sight he saw was the foot of the golem crushing it out of existence.

Smiling the demon lord approached the fallen angel not dead yet within the confines of the church. ”Your god sends you ill-informed and powerless against one such as I. Throughout the city you kill the lesser demons with ease but for one such as I you are but cannon fodder.” taking the angel’s head in his hands the struggling body of the angel tried to fight back. ”Consumed by my armor will be a satisfying fate for a failed angel.” Quickly consumed by the armor the angel vanished from the plane of existence adding to the strength of the demon lord.

”Come my pet. I will let you feast on the next group of angels we come across. But for now we must dwindle their numbers before we approach the grail.” Lumbering off down the road the golem and its master proceeded to the next church. Five angels down only a few hundred left to go. Fortunately for him they were too concerned with the rabble of lesser demons then to attack him in spades.

Father Ben was walking down the long water logged paths of the sewers. He had some what of an idea of where to go. He knew he must find his friend at the college, he would know more about the Grail, and hopefully he would have some more artifacts that could be used for fighting these beasts.

"The sun rises the demons will retreat to these sewers to protect themselves from it's light. We should get out of here as soon as possible."

At these words he climbed up a ladder leading to the surface. He pushed off the man hole and pulled himself into the light of the rising sun. They were in the very heart of the city. A business district known for it's shopping centers, large central park, and a very large amount of crime. It was roughly 18 blocks to the college from here.

He looked around him people were everywhere, the power had gone out in the night and the looters had come out. People were climbing out of broken store windows carrying anything they could get there hands on. This would not be good, this many people would surely get the attention of demons soon. Deep in the crowd he thought for a second that he had gotten a glimpse of Kelly running in fear.

The father turned and yelled down the man-hole " Well at least we have the sunlight to protect us, and i think our young charge has made her way up here too." Just as he said this storm clouds moved in lighting began to flash and rain started to fall. The sun was completely blocked by the clouds.

"Well I spoke to soon, may the Lord have mercy on us."

Leo watched from the crest of the hill, long, brown hair streaked with twin flecks of white - brought on by his recent 'ascension' to angelity - fluttering the wind; he looked over the horizon, and beheld the city...burning, starving and dying. They wouldn't last long...but they didn't have to. The Key-Soul was all that could be saved from the apocalypse..the only thing that could save them all from the apocalypse.

But still...he did not know how such a thing could be done. The demons hunted her; that much, he knew. But how could any of them be certain her death was what they sought? Perhaps her death would be the key to sealing the gates of Hell forever...and perhaps they feared the angels would end her life in a second were that the case. They were right. Leo himself would have done the same, though not, perhaps, without regret.

He sighed, then projected his mind using arcana - making use of the old, little-understood and often rather misunderstood school of mysticism. He sifted through the blazing souls of angels, demons - potential angels, potential demons...and those who were doomed already, without a chance at after-life. But there was but one he sought - one so blatant in its familiarity that Leo could never have believed another to be that one, vibrant, yet immeasurably chilled and isolated, spirit. Vellal.

Though you may hate what I have become...there is something you must know. For the good of us all. Meet me at Varro's warehouse - he will be there, at this hour. He will understand the magnitude of the threat we now face - though he was, at the time of your last meeting with him, but a petty thug, his heart has changed. And he has weapons we can use, though I know not from where he has acquired them. Bring no angels; they are no more my allies in death than they were in life.

Nervousness fluttered in Leo's heart for the briefest of moments; then it vanished as the half-angel crouched, then leapt up into the winds, and flew south...

”This retched sun should be put out of its misery.” Spoke the demon lord as he walked down the street with several corrupted mortals holding a parasol above him. With a larger group walking before him. The sun was most irritating but it would not kill him nor his rock monster. Heavily weakened by the sunlight his monster was more solid then molten but still lumbered forward. The shadow cast by the golem further aided the path that the demon lord and his enslaved humans were taking.

”Take a left here. We’re going into the city square.” The lumbering golem adjusted its positioning for the next path they would take his shadow carefully positioned as to provide the most cover for his master.

As a full demon and a powerful one at that his powers were not nearly as effected by the sunlight but it still took its toll on him. Unable to fly but possessing sufficient strength to ensure that anything trying to trifle with him would be dispatched with haste. Already another dozen angels had fallen to him since the sun rose. Some of them dispatched by the following of humans about him carrying weapons all demonically cursed.

”My own very lackeys, yes I mean you humans. We’re going into the city. Feel free to shoot what you want just remember don’t use the good bullets. Remember if you cripple an angel feed it to golem. If you kill him remember to take off the wings.” The group continued towards the city square the sun barely even reaching mid day.

Name: Chase Callahan
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Side: Good
Apperance: Formerly snow white robe with a single gold cross design on the upper right shoulder, now its soaked with blood, grime, and dirt. Underneath the robe, BPF Vest, ragged jeans and combat boots. Bandoiler clear glass cylinders, filled with holy water. Mossberg 590 clipped to his right hip, grenade launcher slung across his back, Tavor-Mini clipped to his right bicep, various clips, grenade cylinders, and ammo strapped, taped, or velcrowed about his person. A large slender black case strapped crosswise across his back, underneath the GL.
Backstory: Chase is a warrior-priest. Named so himself. He beleives that god provides for thoes who provide for themselves more than thoes who moan for protection. He also has been preparing for an apoctalyptic showdown, and hoping for one, since he was 12. He is 43 now, after 20 or so years of killing minor demons, and removing big ones, he is getting his wish.

Bandoiler of holy water grenades (Glass Spheres filled with holy water, wont crack unless thrown) Tavor MTAR-21, AK-47, m79 GL in the black case, inside the black case is every sort of grenade that can go in the m79...which is alot)

About a block away from the church, the BOOM of a shotgun was heard, causing heads to turn, and thoes sensitive to it to feel the presence of gods grace. Several seconds later, there were 6 simultanious explosions, big ones.

Chase planted a boot on the walking deads chest. The rest of its body was gone from the waist down. With the barrel of his Mossberg in its face he grinned "Tell Lucy that I send my best regards" The blast splattered the creatures face across the pavement, the holy rounds obliderating it.

The priest turned to the 15 or so more shambling figures in the home, their steps confused for the moment, the one he had offed was their proverbial "leader". He racked the shotgun and dropped it to the pavement, pulling the 6 cylinder grenade launcher from the tangle of his armorments. The saftey came off with a satisfying click, and the 6 rounds in 3 seconds detonated the house and brought a smile to scarred lips. He popped the weapon out and reloaded it, re-slinging it and picking up his mossberg, shoving shells and pumping the slide, he straightened and looked at the church, his battered and broken boots ringing on the sidewalk as he left the house, which was now burning merrily, to meet whoever had the Key.

Vellal was in the place, at the time. For the thousandth time, she checked her shotgun for ammo. For the thousandth time, she knew it was just a nervous reaction. She patted Aola and waited, conciously controlling her breathing. It had to be done, it had to be...

But in a career that had seen, with a little luck, the fall of demon princes, she still knew instinctively that this would be the hardest kill of her life. But it would be done. It had to be. He'd do so in her place, and she'd be glad.

An OOC note: Though controlling characters typically isn't done, everything that follows that has regard to Lestaki's character either occurs with his permission, or was written by he himself. That it appears in this one post is for dramatic effect and cohesion.

Leo crouched on the roof of the warehouse, wings curled back, as he saw Vellal standing there. My old friend...his heart gave a lurch at the bitterness in her eyes as she finally looked up at him; her eyes widened slightly, her resolve almost wavering...then she snapped up the shotgun and fired. Had she been firing at any other...had it been any other; any angel, or demon...they would have likely died or been struck to the ground by the lightning-fast draw, and subsequent, seething shotgun blast that followed.
But not Leo...he had already known, bitterly, that she would strike...she always did. Not even for her one true friend would she let the path of her vengeance waver, for even a moment...a sad, lonely determination froze its way across his features, and for those few, desperate, running minutes, he became the seraphim warrior that so many angels aspired to be. But he would not hurt her, though he knew he had the ability. It would make him sick to his stomach...but he already did, and so it mattered little. He wondered, passingly as he could, whether the utter self-loathing worming its way across his icy heart was the simple fate of the halfbreed angel...or something else, when he saw the hatred in his once-friend's eyes.

He closed, lashed out as she did...and both blades impaled themselves in their respective foes; Leo's strike had found its way to Vellal's form, though he would never have wished it so. His icy sword, now elongated and curved with his own ascension, struck her in the shoulder. Hers had him in the stomach, seething and raging as his own icy sword spread its frosty retribution into Vellal's body.

"I'm sorry..." he whispered, regret etched across his features.
"I'm not," she hissed back, spitting in his face.
"...not even for a friend, Vellal? Not even for someone who would have died for you?"
"My friend is dead!" She seethed, trying to free her blade from his stomach; but he latched his far stronger hand to hers, and held it there, grunting and rasping as he did so. Vellal, also, was breathing heavily. "And he died for some worthless concept of martyrdom!"
"Hah...would have thought you, of all people, would understand why I died for the cause...but listen, please, before you condemn me. I never asked anything of you in life...hear me now, in death..."
"I had nothing to give- I gave all to mankind. I still do. So I have nothing to say to the dead. You know that."
"And I still do...but the dead have much they would say unto you. And I...I will tell you, whether you wish to hear it or not."
"Then spit it out, angel, before I kill you."
Leo's face, while altered slightly by his ascension, still held the same look it had held before...and the pain so visibly and crudely scrawled across it right then was all too painful for Vellal to see.
"You - argh - you think the extent of the Creator's treachery lies only with the demons; with Lucifer? So did I...but death..." at this, he smirked slightly, a minute gesture that pricked like a needle at the frosty demonhuntress' heart, "...has enlightened me somewhat, heh...out of all of us that die, few of us ever make it to angelity or demonhood...you know that already...but no one living can understand what happens to them."

At this, his body slid even further down Vellal's sword, so that his face was almost brushing against hers in the bitter cold...and he whispered, softly: "Fields. Fields of souls; all waiting in Oblivion for a salvation that won't ever come - the Creator knows. And he simply doesn't care. I was there...when he struggled to bring his will against my own...he barely afforded those broken spirits a second glance. All he cared about was stopping me...keeping me there, so I couldn't come back here...to you."
"You haven't come back." She hissed, though her resolve flitted in the pained expression in his eyes. "You died; no human could ever come back. You aren't one anymore."
"Does it...does it matter? Stop pretending that what I'm never coming back...I have, and I'm here, now. You want to see our friendship...everything we had...in flames? Then try to burn it down...but when you have need of me, I'll still be here, waiting for you...but I won't fade in the meantime. Humanity has need of me...and I won't abandon them...I won't abandon our people, both yours and mine..."

Then he moved; with the grace and manual dexterity of a halfbreed angel; he slid himself painfully - excruciatingly - from her sword's edge, and leapt into the sky before she could even react. But when he landed once more upon that rooftop...and stepped forward, staggering from sight...that was Leo. Unmistakably Leo.

Vellal cursed violently, then strode forward bitterly, despite the numbing pain in her shoulder...the warehouse was before her. But it was empty; it was all empty. The only thing that mattered anymore was finishing the war - whatever it cost her. To save humanity...no cost could ever be too great.

Kelly saw the collage up ahead. She sighed in relief, but still unerved by the lack of protection. She saw a black figure leap of the roof and fly away. She grabbed the priest's shoulder. "Wait Father, something is amiss here." She began to walk towards the collage again. Whatever was inside could be fended off by the Grail, but the grail could not hold off the deamon hordes. She knew that, or else she wouldn't be scared or God wouldn't have sent an army of angels. Wait, how could the crowd not notice the army of angels? She looked at the humans, and they starred back with a mindless gaze, all were under the influence of the deamon lord. She gripped the Grail tight, all she needed was a way out, not a battle she could not win.

“Ladies, halflings and gentlemen, and by that I mean soon to be dead and holder of the grail.” Spoke a human wearing an iconic sixties yellow smile mask.

“We welcome you here to the core of the city. Mindless mob say hello.” Gesturing like a puppet the man opened his arms to the mob of people around them most of them completely unarmed or carrying shopping bags or any sort of other things.

“I am instructed to inform you of two ways this can end. You can wonderfully surruender yourself and you can all live to die another day, with the exception of you.” Pointing towards Kelly. “Or we can all send all these lovely innocent people to their demise and foster the armies of hell by sending these poor god abiding people to their graves. I am Talking about you too angel boys.” As the masked man gestured towards the sky and the angels that resided there.

“So god abiding grail holder. You too can decide how this ends if the price is right!” Drawing a submachine gun from his back the masked man merely glanced forward. At the start of this day him and a few of his colleagues were going to rob some banks. They made the perfect puppets for the slowly approaching demonic lord. The skies themselves were clearing but this would only mean that the rabble of demons would not be out to harass them. Only the multitude of possible candidates for corruption.

Falling to the street dead from the mangled form impact of the swords across his body. From the crowd an older woman obviously someone’s grandmother stepped forward cane in hand.

“That wasn’t very nice sunny boy. You shouldn’t be killing innocent civilians even if they happen to be wearing masks. Have you thought how your actions effect others.” The grandmother picked up her cane and brandished it as a club as another young child no more then ten stepped away from the dazed and blank expression of his mother.

“You can kill all of us if you want mister swordsmen. You too foolish angel. But how would your god respond to you killing people who have haplessly been caught in the web of someone else. Its rather unbecoming of the protectors of the grail.” Another masked man stepped out of the crowd this time wearing a jackal mask.

“You really have no regard for humans do you? Every drop of blood you spill just further taints your grail holder.” He gestured towards the Kelly obviously fighting with inner thoughts. “You can kill us all but our master still hasn’t arrived yet. It is a big city and this daylight makes it troubling for him to walk quickly.”

Once more from the crowd a man attired in a business suit stepped forward and began speaking as another puppet. “So holder of the grail how do you want this to end? As I assure you I can kill with a moment’s thought or even force these hapless fools to commit acts against god thus damning them to eternal torment. But you can come peaceably and end all this suffering these poor people would undergo. Or you could simply have your blood thirsty comrades’ murder all these people then keep on killing as I take away their strings forcing your comrades to be damned by killing the innocents.” The crowd lumbered forward, women, children, men and parents old and new. Virtually all of them with some element of corruption enabling the demonic lord to puppeteer them.

Lies, listen to them and humanity, they die. Some must die to save others. This is one city of many Kelly, remember that. I will save what I can. Kelly felt the grail, and the urge to kill them all with what powered them, electritcty. Their lives have become so dependent on the source. No! They don't deserve death! She admired this deamon lord, he was clever using the humans. Err, she should not be praising her enemy. She entered the void. She wanted her, the preacher, and Josh out. Those two angels would help too. Out of the mob and in the collage. She poured the will into the grail, and began to sing in that heavenly voice, words she never knew yet understood. She opened her eyes, and found herself and the others in a golden ball. It flew up and away from the crowd onto the roof of the collage, and disappeared.

“Well that sucked.” Replied the businessman as his expression returned and people returned to whatever they were doing. Completely oblivious to the dead masked man his body severed.

”Curses. She escaped.” replied the demon lord to any about with no recipient in particular. ”We’re heading to campus mindless zombies and pet. It is going to be a learning experience.” The mob of people surrounding the demon lord and his pet was growing and acquiring better weapons. Already they had secured the munitions from a local weapons store. Heavily armed and all completely under the control of the demon lord. Even should his control waver these folks he had assembled were all damned eventually and it wouldn’t take much to return their freewill for the rewards he could promise them.

Whistling as he walked the parasol still carried around him the entourage made their way down the main roads cars and anything else in their way either joining the group or letting them pass without provocation. Already another few angels had been killed by their arsenal of demonically enchanted weapons. For the most part nothing had come in their way to obstruct them.

IC: "He always was a dramatist, even in death," Vellal muttered, to restore her usual poise more than anything else. "And after death, it would seem," she continued. "Aola! We have some riding to do!"
***
Demonhunters... there were many who knew of demons. Most were terrified survivors, praying every day for darkness never to come to them again. Some resisted passively, fuelling the war of Vellal and others through money, supplies, aquired knowledge, anything. A few became like her, demonhunters, the persuers of anegls and demons alike despite the title. Those who fought back. There existed a loose system. Though there were rumours, and the legendary Swords of the Stars often came up in this context, Vellal had never encountered anything to suggest an organised heirarchy had been formed of her kind, only bands of individuals. But those individuals knew many things others didn't, even the least of them, and advertised in certain ways so that they could communicate. It was rare for Vellal to come through any medium-sized town without being able to encounter at least one with knowledge of the Lore, and such individuals always welcomed her. Past terror provoked a selflessness all of its own.
***
The zombie humans milling through the city were nothing to her, nor did they pay much attention to her. The Grail was elsewhere, after all. And so it was without much trouble that she rode down a cul-de-sac, noting that where a city had been ruined these houses had been relatively spared. The runes, subtly carved, were immedietely apparent to the trained eye. But the key was the door- a large silver cross had been attached to it. But the key wasn't the cross itself, or even the material, it was the inscripted interior- between a thin boarder a rift of light was traced from top to bottom. The representation of a gate. And where the two perpendicular pieces met, there was a cluster of five stars- even if they were only a legend, the Swords of the Stars were useful in that respect. Finally, when one looked closely- arcanum runes glittered, tucked into every corner. This was an advanced piece of symbology and artifice. However lived here knew their lore- hopefully, anyway. Vellal ran a hand through her hair, soothed Aola, held her own matching cruxifix in one hand and knocked, five times.

Dark eyes sized her up, flickered in momentary suprise, then the man nodded. "Come in."

Callahan eyed the horde of civilians from the burned out buildings 3rd floor, wondering. He shrugged "In the War, some must die for others" he murmured to himself. He set the long black case down on the ground and popped it open, and pulled out a grenade shell with a yellow/green stripe running around it. He shoved the gas shell into the launcher and snapped the weapon close with a grim smile. "I ask not for forgiveness, but for understanding" he aimed at the general center of the crowd, the thump of the firing was soft and muted, the impact of the shell was a loud clang. The shell detonating in a cloud of vicious green and yellow gases, which would drop a normal human to their knees, choking, in moments, and dead within a minute, was more noticeable. Chase snapped an incinerary grenade into the launcher and fired it at the cloud, which was alternatively, very flammable. The roar and ball of flames, from a blessed weapon, and thus blessed flames, seared the flesh from the core of the crowd, leaving the outskirts untouched but the center utterly gone. He reloaded and slipped the weapon back into its case, moving to another building, for another strike before he could be located.

"Yeah, find this collage guy, shut the gate, and that mindless horde would become normal, am I right? Perhaps kill this deamon lord if we get the chance."

"Well killing the demon lord would be obvious... especially since I already volunteered to do so, although clearly if he's controlling masses of innocents with no problem, he might be a bit out of my league. I'll give it a shot though," Mike said. "What college guy are you talking about?"
Mike then took a look at his new wings, "Heeyy.... not too bad, let me try these out for a second." Mike then flew up as high as he could and took a look at the city. In the distance, he could make out the size of a very tall humanoid creature, and then thought to himself that he's pretty screwed, as it is the other powerful thing he has been sensing besides the demon lord and the illusionist fire demon. Especially since it was coming this way. He then descended back to the floor, and messed up on the landing and tripped. "It's gonna take some time to get used to this.... I can already tell. By the way, we better do something quick, or we're going to have some very demonic company, and I don't think they will want to chat."

The priest stood in the center of the street, the former demonically possessed mob now laying in various poses of death and dismemberment. The robe, which had started off dusty, bloodsplattered, and torn, was now even bloodier and torn. He had a far away look in his eyes, the compact shotgun in his left hand, empty, the last shell had went into the little girl at his feet. He was wondering if it had just been a terrified little girl or possessed. He rolled his shoulders once, shrugging it off, it didnt matter, there were innocents who died in war. He began shoving shells into his shotgun, various armorments clanking softly against eachother, as he marched towards the church, taking the alleyways and dispatching the darkness there.

The tip of the Ak nudged the side door open, cautious eyes peering inside the holy building, all was silent for the moment. He cautiously planted one bloody combat boot inside and peered down the hallway, both ways, that he had entered. Something wet and sticky dripped down the back of his neck, his shoulders tensed and he looked up with a faint sense of dred. A demon was attatched to the ceiling, long claws digging into it, front claws and teeth reaching for him, and drool dripping onto him. He brought his weapon up as it dropped onto him.

You foul demons, you have made what I am! Perhaps you shouldn't have made me! But here I am willing to die for this. Damn you!" The Shadow strated running in the streets. He din't know where he was going. He just ran.

”Golem would you mind tossing that car towards campus? Try and hit that college building over there.” With a rocky grown the golem reached over and picked up one of the nearby cars along the roadside. Picking and throwing the vehicle with ease it sailed over the building in question and landed in the ground.

”Was it really that hard to hit a building with a car from this distance? Honestly… try again and this time use that pickup truck.” Obviously depressed over missing the building the golem picked up the truck and hurled it towards the campus building this time striking it dead on through the roof. ”Excellent my pet. Now gather a bunch of this pavement into a ball and throw it then we’ll be off. That should be more then enough to draw some attention to ourselves.” Smiling as best the golem could he grabbed a large chunk of earth and pavement in his mammoth hands and hurled it campus ward. The chunk crashed through the building on a horizontal path impacting through the top floor cutting its way clean through one side and out the other.

”Mindless minions and those of you who are just pretending to be mindless, oh wait you’re all mindless! When we get onto campus you are free to kill everything and anything except this person.” Conjuring up a mental image for his puppets they soon knew what they were not to kill. ”Now remember puppets if she starts talking funny you folks with the stun guns and teargas can go and take her down but try to keep her alive. At least until I can rip out her organs and take her apart piece by piece while her blood fills that grail. That is all everyone be on your worst behaviour.” With his orders given out verbally just for the fun of it the mob now heavily armed and quite a decent size began heading towards the campus once more. Already the demon lord was reaching looking for potential slaves and soon to be mental zombies within the campus grounds but was waiting for the right moment to convert them to his way of thinking.

"Ah, the refuge of the lost. Joyous." Leo muttered sarcastically as he descended, landing on an outcrop of ash and bone outside the church. His wound was, at least, partially healed...but he was beginning to understand just why blessed weapons were so stupidly effective against immortals - typical, physical attacks were all too easily regenerated...but anointed ones? They kept his mind bathed in a haze of blood, almost keeping him from flight.

It was, at least, less painful when he wasn't making use of his supernatural abilities - likely another reason why demons and angels in the heat of battle were far easier to maim with anointed weapons...but also why they could escape with at least a modicum of proficiency - naturally, few made it far. He sighed, sweeping his eyes across the terrain - the church, as far as he could tell, was a smoking ruin; the walls had been decorated with a not-so-intricately woven red paint job, and conveniently positioned bodies made up a rather macabre scene.

It was the sharp, jarring crack of an old hunting rifle - so similar to his own - that finally jolted him back to his surroundings...rather than the innocent (and the not-so-innocent) dead. Leo's face snapped round, wings flaring as he glared up at the peak of the church; an old, aging man holding a rifle with the ease of experience that Leo himself had used - though that particular student of the art of death held it with more proficiency than Leo ever had. A proficiency borne of experience, no doubt.

Leo smiled slightly, looking up at an impaled head upon the tip of the church's cross.
"Ah, yes. Any particular reason why a respected priest such as yourself - or, if you are not, you should be...any preacher with the intelligence and will to take the fight to the enemy should be - is wandering these wondrous streets in the midst of a demonic incursion?"
