Short answer : the tools are all available.
Long answer :
There are three types of cinematics in IC. We use the names animatics, NISes and NISlets.
Animatics are the black and white movies that play between missions. These are compressed using Bink from Rad Game Tools. You can use Premiere or some other video editting software to build .AVIs, which can then be converted to Binks.
NISes are created in MAX or gMAX and allow full control of camera, lights, and characters. We support skeletal, material, and facial animation. This produces the best cinematics, but they are hard to produce.
NISlets are built in the mission editor. You can setup camera paths and object paths, trigger speech, and anything else the mission editor provides. These are fairly quick to setup and are used to provide quick, little storytelling.
The mission editor shipped with the game, and the MAX/gMAX plug-ins are available through RDN at http://www.relic.com/rdn/
The Bink compressor is available at http://www.radgametools.com/

So for NISes, is the facial animation lipsync done in real time by the game engine? Or is it done in 3dsmax and then exported?
Also, will there be additional documentation on NISes or NISlets other than what is in the IC tools 1.1 package?
thanks in advance!
