Gamespot just put up a one page designer diary and two minute trailer of CoH. A little taste to make you want more:
In the church and graveyard scene, we give two squads of paratroopers a simple attack-move order into the graveyard. You will notice that as soon as they come under fire, they move to the stone walls for cover all on their own and then use fire and maneuver tactics to get into the graveyard, moving from gravestone to gravestone. This is all part of the squad's artificial intelligence. These soldiers are aware of every object that can provide them cover from enemy fire. By having two squads, we've used one squad to keep the enemy units in the church occupied, while the other squad moved in close enough to eliminate the enemy in the church with a well-placed satchel charge.

Just a minor clarification, the video is the designer diary along with the text. We wanted the DD to be a little more interesting than just a blurp of dev speak.
More to come!!

A good preview all around, even if it didn't really tell us anything new.
Loved the briefing though. :D

Nice info and cool trailer, my only question was there seemed to be a first person view for a second from a MG nest, was that just a trailer tease or is there a first person view mode?

Trailer tease! No first-person view, but the camera is free so you can position it anywhere you like.

I must say that trailer looked damn sexy, looks like however long we wait, it will be awsum and definately worth it!
I salute the relic boys for taking it not just one step further, but a whole different neighbourhood. :king:
I thought to myself after DoW, it can only get better and by the looks of it, i aint wrong.
I'd be interested to hear what the single player campaign involves, will we be following a 'plotted course' through the french countryside or will be have an "option" of possible moves?
For instance, once completing a battle, would we be presented with a map giving us a list of possible manoeuvre's, ie...
Move East - Direct assault upon a town
Move North-east - Flanking attack on a bridge
Move south-east - deep penentration attack and hold a crossroads behind the lines to cut off their supplies.
Be interesting to hear whats lined up!
I think that is the one thing that I've missed from 99% of RTS games I've played, its always a plotted course, you never have the option of out flanking an enemy town on the big picture, cutting their supplies and then smoking them out when they've no rounds left.

i love this.. to me it looks like the game plays similar to DoW.. but beefed up and tweaked with a new format..
DoW on steroids if you will :)

For myself, I would LOVE to have a TW type campaign map of Europe, and either a freeform conquer mode or a HQ based objective. The only problem I had with past wars was that most games were set in stone historically. Sure you had a chance to recreate the Battle of the Bulge and possibly alter the outcome but ultimately it came down to ending the war historically.
A 'What If' campaign. Now if they dont want a turn based part then make it realtime like EaW.

Indeed, Rise of nations offers the Conquer the world campaign and albeit its not graphically amazing, it offers that choice of where to hit next.
Would love to have the option of driving straight to the south of france and cutting the german forces in half. :ds:
