Here is a video of Company of Heroes that I got. Its an HD video that I downloaded along with other e3 videos after purchasing a fileshack account. Uploaded onto my shackfile hosting so you guys can take a peak. Due note that a free fileshack account is needed for download. Enjoy guys.

Absolutely great stuff, but i cant help to notice in the biggining the bazzooka guys would not be killed for a long time, the germans were practically standing next to them and they didnt die till after other americans started dieing? I guess just early game stuff. Great video regardless

its probably the A.I kicking in there, the GERman's were probably taking aim at the rifle troops.
It could be something scripted to say which targets a unit will attack first.

True, now that i think about it's a good idea, but they could still think about protecting their tank? Oh well still fantastic :call2:

Awesome looking. Especially like the parts with the tactical overlay.
There's a scene of cover being blown apart by the AT-gun after which the infantry behind it is exposed and quickly cut down.

Finally, a chance to look at the HUD. It looks very nice, gameplay looks amazing and my fears of losing thousands of troops per second are gone. Hooray for Relic!

Looks like destroyed vehicles don't serve as cover, it looks like shots passed through a destroyed tank in the first scene.. although that's probably because of the early state of the game.
I also like how that plane flew right through a building after the bombing run :P

i just noticed soomthing, at 1:18 that grid thing crossing the road is destroyed, yet at 3:13 the things are back as well as all the destrustion and craters gone, was that a swap from what PC they were covering from or do things rebuild?

Destroyed tanks do provide cover. It's hard to get good depth perception off a falt screen, what you saw was most likely passing behind the tank. There could be some graphical glitches with the tracer fire, but I have not seen that yet.

Destruction in the game is persistant, what you saw must have been edited footage.

Ok i just realize that the camera man started capturing the end of the demo. Then he transitioned to the beginning of the demo. That's why the level was back to normal with no damage to the terrain or buildings.

shame, its a really good clip. Would have been good to see how the whole battle panned out but i'm sure there will be plenty more clips to see in the coming weeks.

Looking further you can see how the interface is some ways similar to DoW but a littlw slicker, and particulaly impressive is how the area effect of the strafing run and the ranges of the units show. Awesome.

it especially looked impressive in how it looked like you can change the angle of your strafing run, wonder what other little things like that will crop up.

certainly, i think the term sitting ducks is applicable.
I'm extremely impressed how a few rounds of artillery can totally ruin a germans day.
Also, the flames from the sherman, how good does it look?
This game looks simply too good to be kept locked away until september onwards.
I'll crack up with the strain of excitement!

I thought it was pretty cool. I'm curious about that airstrike though. Did the first plane do anything?
I liked the use of bazookas and rifle grenades ( I think thats what those were) by the Ranger squad(s) against the entrenched machineguns. I'm curious as to what the abilities being used were earlier though. It looked like the grenades and such were being targeted manually - can they fucntion both automatically and manually?

The first plane completely wiped out a squad of infantry with its machine guns. The second plane was a bomber, which killed off some more infantry (and a tank I think). The last tank is then crushed by a direct artillery hit.

Will the planes still fly through buildings in the gold version or is it just a beta issue?
And the tracer fire does look like it's passing through the Sherman. :(

I know that nazi engineers have the ability to salvage wreck but i'm not sure about smashing wrecks(I'm sure they're smashable).

I've downloaded it 5 times now and still it says its corrupted. :(
sending a 171Mb file by email just isnt going to work.
Anyway, I doubt that the problem is with the file you're downloading - we all downloaded it from the same place fine and youve redownloaded it multiple times.
Do you have all updates for windows media player? Is a virus scanner messing things up?

I noticed in the HUD there is shortcuts. I have to know, will we be able to make "grid keys" for this game? Can you customize the shortcuts either in-game, or by manually editing a file(s)?

Do I need a mercury account? Because I have a free account and every time I try to download the video it sends me right back to fileshack.com.
Oh never mind, I got it, I had google toolbar running. Oh and btw, the Movie is AWESOME! (Friend showed me just now)

I guess everybody noticed the 'lag' in the HD video. Is this caused by the camera filming the screen? Or does this mean that the creators haven't yet optimalisized the engine for scalabale use?
I would imagine that there is still some optimisation to be done.

I'm having the same problems, I signed up for a free account but I still get the page that says "You must have a free account" I click to go to the site and I'm clearly logged in, but the page is always the same. I did a search for the video, but if I try to download that way it tells me I need a Mercury account all the sudden.

If you have Firefox (or any browser that blocks pop-ups) you should check if you have allowed FileShack to display them. Otherwise, you won't get the dl box.

the problem i had was that a virus had somehow fucked with my ethernet ports, had to reinstall the whole OS. Wasnt impressed.

it did look slightly slow at points but i gather this will be cleaned up once its due for release.
I can imagine bugs like that will be ironed out in the beta.

Had the same problem as this yesterday, looks like it wasnt a virus after all. The Active Armour on the Nvidia h/w firewall for the ASUS mobo's was doing it.

Thats an alpha build. You know alpha? The really early stuff? If you take a look at other E3 alphas you'll notice all of them lag when the action gets going.

I was watching this again and wondering if the AI has a priority threat assesment to targets? Was wondering why the Anti tank gun didnt focus on the flamethrower tank once the infantry started showing up. Do bazooka/infantry have a higher threat value than a tank?
Also in the beginning I noticed a few bazooka guys almost next to german troops and it seemed they were left alone til almost the end. I think here is where close combat melee would have been nice..:)

No its when the loading times should get ten times shorter and framerates should get four times higher.
The fact it comes last means it often gets rushed or left unfinished and the game sufferes badly.
I think here is where close combat melee would have been nice..:)
I couldnt agree more, its a real shame one the most gruelling bits of warfare is being left out.
I fear a C&C job where 2 men stand an inch apart from each other, machince guns blazing, the whole while the only effect is a slowly dimishing red health bar.
