If you are playing a multiplayer game and you have... lets say 2 other people on your team. If one person captures a fuel depot, will the resources be shared throughout the team?

i would guess so, for this game doesnt use circular points that are scatterd around the map, im guessing that there are less areas and they give resurses to entire team, and not that perticular people own them but, allied and axis own them in general

I Hope not, actually. I don't like the idea to share my valuable self-captured recourses with another player who hasn't captured that point. In fact, if we get to the point 'base-building', then I should think the 'normal recourse gathering' is the best way to play an RTS at all ;)

Another question: "Live together, die together", Relic said. This means multiplayer is based on temaplay. So.. will we also be able to play 1 on 1? Don't relly like 2 vs 2 or more..

i think maby 1 vs 1's will be playable, the maps are quite big but i think they will put it as somthing like that many men per map, and the amount of players there are effects how many each person can build

But what if there are only 2 resource points of that type on the map, and the enemy has the other (kind of like streets of volgen where there are only 2 relics)??

Sharing resources is good, it allows players to focus on different things. Eg one player can focus on economy and territorial control while the other reinforces and takes the lead in attack.

Sharing Resources furthers teamplay. Thus Sharing = good.

What you share are rates at which you gain resources, not the resources themselves.

On teamplay... yes, you'll be able to play 1v1 games.

Hope that clears things up.

Thank you;) And btw, ur from Relic Entertainment huh? Tell us some more about CoH! If you're not, thnx anyway;)

Hes not from relic. He just impersonates them to make us all excited ;) Borriesz you may not like sharing the income rate ut i bet you'd hate it more if you didn't and you were getting nothing. Resource model in CoH works in a similar way to dawn of war. You capture a point and get resources at a constant rate, not in chunks from mines or trees like age of empires. Resources are unlimited as long as you keep control of the points. Also with relic meantioning their "fight together die together" thing it would make sense if the team shared and shared alike :)

I like shared resources. If there were, say, 12 capture points, and you had 3, your teammate had 3, you would both get the combined points of 6 and if they spend it on themselves, it doesn't take out of your res pool.
I love 2v2 and 3v3 I find 1v1 a rushing race, though I doubt it would work the same in CoH as in DoW.
I heard somewhere that there won't be 1v1, anyone else here this?

nah, JMA confirmed above in this thread that 1vs1 will be included. Would be silly to leave it out tbh.

So res sharing is like in DoW? I love that system, works very well, discourages allies "racing" to capture resources and helps those players who are losing their ares due to concentrated enemy assaults.

But can we send our allies the spare resources we have? I imagine that while playing airborne I won't need as much fuel as the armored-specced player. Is there an option to send other players resources?

I can see this working very well, because its Axis vs Allies, so no worries about mix "tech" and what not.

I would also take away the problem of the "one guy in bad starting position" (not say CoH's maps will be bad :D ) present in many RTS games.

It will be also fun for everyone to do the great "Last Stand" in a city centre of something.

that last post just made me want this game even more :3d:

I have that affect don't I.

But seriously, who wouldn't want to do the "last stand" with a team, where you can actually build and help defend, rather than try to re-build your base.

razorwire the entire area and watch the enemy charge through when u have mg's set up, i mean if u and a mate do a sandbox game you could make som amazing vids

"Cinematic gameplay", eh? :D

"Live together, die together"

Does that imply a Ground Control 2 style multiplay? IE: you can keep right on re-enforcing even if every troop you own has been killed? (Provided you hold one of these 're-enforcment points', whatever they are.)

Certainly i would love to do the "last stand". Nothing beats watching pixels fight for their lives under a constant bombardment of enemy fire.;)

[QUOTE]It will be also fun for everyone to do the great "Last Stand" in a city centre of something.[quote] Artillary would really ruin this :( great for cinematics though. wonder how long it will be before someone tried to make a map similar to LOTR?

Wonder if they'll implement a feature I have seen only in the Rise of Nations series yet... The ability to control (in skirmish) more than one player. It was a very cool feature, excellent for testing and playing "what if..." scenarios, and in combination with CoH would result in some excellent movies, way better than could ever be made with in-game tools, as it seems more natural and is easier to do.

The resource system could be interestinjg. you could make maps where it is infantry only. That would be very challenging.

Oh yeah, infantry maps... :3dcool:

I am heading to play with infantry the most time.
Infantry maps would be cool, watching the AI fighting each other :comp:

I hope there are trenches... Something like a WW1-styled map..arrr :Pirate:

ehhh...
@Topic: Yeah, the resource system could be interesting :D

I assume infantry battles would become a total grind and takes ages to complete (on a decent sized map). Perfect!!!

I dont think anyone has mentioned this, but Empire at War has this same "Shared resources" system. The way they do it is with asteriod based mines. These mines are scattered across the map and if you capture them (Build them, basically) you get x amount of resources. Each rebel or imperial player gets, say, 10$ a second. If you build a flight of xwings you'll spend 5 of yours, but I'll still have my 10, since I didnt buy anything. I'd say the system works pretty well, except for handicaps. In most RTS games, having a noob doesnt condem you right away, usually you can atleast hold your own for a while. In EAW, this doesnt seem to be the case. I'd say a lot of this has to do with map design also, most of the mines in EAW are centrally located, so once the other team gets the upper hand, your pretty much out of luck. I'm looking forward to COH to see how this works, it seems a lot better then the typical harvester games.

I don't play EaW alot, but it sounds like it has the same sharing system as in DoW.

Yeah DoW has that sharing system too :/
