it just strikes me, is CoH going to be like DoW, except its druing the 2nd WW? Look at it this way, see the fx for the bullets, its the same color for bolt rounds used by SM. The overall game engine seems Dowish.

And one thing..is CoH going to have a cover idea like in DoW and stuff, using ust not holes but like walls and fences and wire etc. Anyways, the screenies at ign are fantastic! I love the tanks, they seem to outclass the baneblade in a really weird way.

By the way, here's a funny screenie:

http://media.pc.ign.com/media/743/743961/img_3564381.html - I find it funny, its like putting a group of eldar guardians and like one of their walkers against a baneblade..

Well its already been said in another thread that this is an entirely different engine and game from DoW. The concepts of strategic pionts or in CoH, "sectors," and other concepts that Relic did like in DoW were put into CoH. There is of course new strategic concepts in CoH such as environmental strategy, but mostly CoH is entirely different from DoW. Its not just DoW with WW2 skins, its an entirely different game.

Yeah, no DPS charts in this one, no pain-in-the-ass Heavy Infantry bullshit, no invisible bases, no useless cover. Hard to believe, but this game looks even more promising than DoW did... It's on my wish list on par with Supreme Commander and slightly before DoW: DC (and slightly after HL2Ep2, but that's not really an RTS game :D).

You just have to watch the videos to see that theyre completely different games. The similarities can be summed up as follows:

1. Both RTS games.
2. Both squad based.
3. Resource model based on holding ground rather than mining stuff.

I personally like the SupCom graphics. While it's not exactly FPS-ish look like in CoH, it can render battlefields stretching dozens of kilometres in any way. And it's not a remake, it's a "spiritual successor" to Total Annihillation (that's why I'm sold :D).

I never played Total annihillation, is it any good? I found a copy in HMV for about £10, was going to buy it out of curiosity as i'd seen a few folks talk about it on here.

Graphics looked dated tho. Is it any good?

TA is still one of the best RTS games ever. I'd definitely pick it up.

OTC: CoH looks to have a couple of major innovations that will set it apart from DoW:

1. Destructable environments that actually effect gameplay
2. Improved AI that can interact with the environment as it changes
3. "Supply lines" concept
