i was just wondering which patch/s do you need to play Dow online. When ever i try to play online it says i need to download a patch.

You need 1.01, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.41.

If you don't have WA (good decision btw) do not download them from lobby or it will take ages.

I think you can download them from dowfiles. Check your game version becuase some of them are different for each version, english or international, and it will give an error patching if you don't install the right one.

you want to install WA then patch it. i believe it should download the 1.4 -> 1.41 patch. If not i can compress it and transfer it to you some way(if you dislike the idea of downloading the total patch).

What if i don't get WA and i just install patch 1.40 and 1.41?

You cant install 1.40 until you have installed 1.30...the easiest thing to do is to install the all in one patch, either that or keep connecting to gamespy until it stops prompting you to install patches.

So far i have downloaded a few patches when trying to log on and i was wondering if i have to install them from the c:/programfiles/dawnofwar/patches folder.

When you connect to gamespy it will download AND install the next patch in sequence. You just need to keep connecting until it stops sending you patches (6 times in total if you started at 1.00).

If you have a slow connection to the internet then Troubleshooter is probably right. Especially 1.3-1.4 patch is a monster in size.

I think I must be going crazy, I remember the day this would have been moved to the DOW technical discussion forum but so far 2 mods and an admin have posted in this thread and it is still here - guess it must be genuine GD material then, lol. ;)

Using the lobby to get the patches is usually a nasty experience and I would advise downloading them in all from a third party and instaling them in order afterwards. Althought patching through the multiplayer link takes little effort, just time.

The multiplayer route is the easiest, just log on and it does it for you.

I have got DoW:WA now but it wont let me install it. This is because when it is up-dating during the first part of the installation it says i am trying to patch the wrong version. What am i doing wrong now?
Didn't you say it updates all patches when you install it?

Try doing a clean reinstall of DoW before you install WA (uninstall DoW, delete install directory, reinstall).

WA should patch DoW up to 1.40 before installing itself - that leaves 1.41 and 1.50 to be applied by you.

But it says i have to install all patches between 1.00 and the current patch before i can install it. You said it updates up to 1.40 before installing so i shoudn't have to.
Any ideas?

Are there any files i can back-up before re-installing so i don't lose my campaign progress?

just go through the dawn of war folder and save the save games and your campain to a floppy disk then reload them after you hav compleatly installed it.

You don't need all the patches just 1.41 Full (331MB) and 1.41 - 1.50 (37MB)

C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War\Profiles\Profile1\w40k\singleplayer\campaign\state1 is where your save games are and i would like to see you fit 110MB onto a floppy lmfao, Winter assault is C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War\Profiles\Profile1\wxp\singleplayer\campaign\state1/2 and is around 245MB if you have completed all 4 missions for WA. However the gave games do not work correctly in pre patch verions. I completed all missions in WA installed patch 1.5 and they nolonger show up. Which is crap as with patch 1.50 makes the later missions almost impossible.

Which folders are the save games and campaigns in lustigj90?(e.g. c:/programfiles/DoW)

dazz just told you, and if you cant find them have a look round the whole folder and they should be called what you saved them as.

I have looked around and all i can find is some files called "savedgame37" and stuff like that. I found these in c:/programfiles/thq/DoW/profiles/profile1/spcampaign. I don't really know if these are the right files though.

A couple of questions first

1)What do you mean by delete in your latest post
2)Pretend none of this happened and i re-installed DoW, would my campaign still be there(without backing-up)

1) delete the install directory (but not your backup obviously) - it gets rid of anything the uninstaller misses.

2) I cant remember whether or not the uninstaller removes save games or if it gives you the option to save them or what - I would recommend backing up if you want to keep them, just to be safe.
