Planet Company of Heroes launches.

I swear this isn't just shameless advertising, but if it is against the rules, sorry!

As you know, Company of Heroes is fast approaching release (September 11th, 2006), and there was been very little news about it. Hopefully, that's beginning to change. I'm proud to announce the launch of of Planet Company of Heroes (http://planetcoh.gamespy.com/), the latest part of IGN/Gamespy's network. It's dedicated to bringing you complete coverage of Company of Heroes, files, news, and hopefully exclusives. Since you guys are the most active fans of Company of Heroes out there, I'm inviting you to join our community. I hope you check it out and contribute :)

The launch of a new fairly significant forum could be justified though. The planet forums are well known and looking at it it has a good repository of screens and stuff already.

i really hope they dont delay the game but as every source seems to have a 9/11 date pinned it should be fine

We actually originally had the date listed as September 26th, and THQ said the 11th, so I don't think it'll be delayed :)

What would a 9/11 release have anything to do with sales? I don't look at it as a bad thing to launch a game on a date which 5-year anniversary marks a major terrorist attack.

What about a Dec. 7th release date, would that have anything to do with sales? Not really...

I wouldn't take that date too seriously. Release dates tend to shift quite a bit.

As for the release date, I'd say it's a pretty solid one for now, as THQ has given it out to game sites such as IGN, Gamespot, etc. Suprised me how soon the release is, but hey, if we get to buy the game faster I can't complain :)

ÜberJumper, we do credit sites that we get our news from. However, as our news has so far either come from Google News (in which case we simply link to the website in question, as per the Game Shop article), or we've been notified by IGN/Gamespy itself (in the case of the Infantry article), there's been no need to credit any sites so far. Since Monday, June 12th was the first day we had the news system working on the production server, all previous news we had queued was posted on that day, which is why none of it was actually published on June 12th.

Of course, we report all CoH news regardless of what site it's on. We've got GameSpot's Company of Heroes Designer Diary #2 as our June 13th article right now, and we've got links to nearly every CoH article on our Media Links page.
