The beta contains the tutorial and two multiplayer maps. No skirmish.

Just to preempt any accusations of us being money grubbing punks (we are, but not in this instance), we do not get paid for this. The reason we do this is because it's the only way we can have a binding NDA with people we know exist. Since you need to have a credit card to subscribe, there is a good chance you are a real person. We looked at setting up something in house for this, but the setup costs, bandwidth and manpower costs made it a nightmare. The subscriptions are not that expensive, and the service is very good. You get lots of beta access, as well as silly fast pipes to download stuff through.

Sorry for the inconvenience this presents to our fans that are not willing to subscribe.

Thanks a lot Tranj. I will have to wait for the open BETA though, if it comes...

Cant wait to test all those strategy's, and trust me, i can be very inovative when it comes to conquer an enemy base... (i do not know how, but when it comes to games where you have to think, i ALWAYS go the wrong way, and end up stuck with no options left... lets see if this BETA stays stable when i am playing...)

And for the paid thingy... not everyone else has online payments methods from his bank... ( i am from portugal, and my bank doest have that kind of options yet) we are still advancing for the "information age".

I dont think that, in fact, i am surprised for the avaibility of the game client, afterall its an investment, and you are giving your work for anyone who wants to test it...

I stopped completing my own purchase of the Fileplanet subscription, when Tir told me there were no more keys, but just happened to complete the purchase right now, pressing the button by misstake.

So I thought I'd just as well stay in line for the next CoH beta, and signed up for it. Voila! Guess what? I recieved my CoH beta key immediately.

I really don't know what drugs Tir took, but there definitely seems to be more keys left still.

I just got home from work and saw the CoH page and did all the stuff and just now got key and am downloading.

But I did notice this was the first time I had to put sys specs in prior to these so that may the cause for limited number per sys specs.


I really woulda cried if all the keys came out while was at work as is my typical luck..

The other thing I just noticed, the webpaged only reports roughly 1600 downloads so far so either there are a ton signing up from work to download later or there is a min number for each spec category.

I coughed up the $7 to get into the beta. 5000 x $7 = $35,000, and that is assuming everyone knows not to sign up for their 3 month plan.

I'd rather see that money go to THQ.

I just found out about it on the Gamespot Forums, I was going to the Company of Heroes board to quote someone when I read "The Company of Heroes beta on fileplanet is now available!"

I continued reading and someone said that they were out of keys. I quickly browsed to fileplanet, and filled out the form as fast as I could.

Then, I clicked submit. It took about 2 minutes until it showed me the next page. Then, I saw it. My beta code.

Anyways... I'm downloading the client now. :D

I just tried to subscribe for fileplanet but it keeps saying after I tried to submit my form it says my credit card is being verified and told me to send an e-mail to their account support address. I was just wondering did you guys have to go through this process as well? Or is it because there is just a lot a people trying to sign up right now? Thanks guys.

Stop whining about having to pay to get something, don't you know that you can get speeds up to 500kb a second on their payed service(Along with getting to download new things first and getting into betas), which is only 7$ a month. Yeah, the wording is a bit ambiguous in the message for people whose system specs don't quite measure up. The beta isn't full...it's just full for you. :P

There still keys available, so if you're a FP subscriber and have a decent rig you'll get in.

Your keys is tied to your account, so yes, once you make your account, you can play with that account anywhere...except outer space.

Can someone confirm that the Beta works online? Ive read all around and cannot find any information to do with playing online, but currently when I try to go to the MP section I just get an error message that says I cannot connect.

Yes the Beta works online - there are some network issues with some people but that's what the beta is for: To find bugs to be squashed.

You should be posting in the CoH closed beta forum though ;)
