Ok, so when the beta is finally over, and we are all begging to play again. Is there going to be a demo? Or will the beta end the day the game comes out?

Every single relic game has had a demo that includes single player missions and a skirmish mode that includes 1 - 2 maps. Can not give a definite answer but odds are there will be a demo, possibly even released while the beta is still going on.

I'd say its a safe bet that theyll follow nearly the same schedule they did when DoW was coming around Beta July-August Demo September Game October

The demo will probably be released on the eve of the game's release, that tends to be Relic's way of doing things though HW2 almost didn't have a demo.

Demo will be out soon (tm). (soon = from now until a couple months out).

According to IGN's listings, CoH is scheduled for release on Sept 11, 2006. So I assume that at demo will hopefully be out before that date.

My September 2006 PC Gamer just came today, and in the blurb about next month's issue it said that there would be an exclusive demo of Company of Heroes on the disc. That should be coming any time after August 20th, so there's your answer.

Yeah, I spoke with PC Gamer a few days back to confirm this, but I'm still waiting to see if they can tell me what's actually on the demo.

competition with other mags, for one. Plus the fact, most of todays people want 'tomorrow' yesterday. so they are just abliging the public.

If you're not a subscriber, you probably won't be able to pick it up until September.

Is there anything about this game that DOES NOT require subscribing!?

I'm just glad I already have a PC gamer subscription... their demo discs are pretty good and all DVD now! Plus I love reading the mag anyway. Can't wait for the shiny demo disc...

IDFang:
You'll be able to pick it up in stores.
So you can pick up a demo disk in stores, or the magazine?
If we are talking about the magazine, then somebody said we would have to wait till September.
Does anybody know any other way to get their hands on a demo without subscribing to this magazine?

The demo will probably be up for download as well. Hell, if the mag doesn't have some sort of exclusive legal thingi there'll probably be a forum torrent for the demo.

Even if a magazine forbids sharing exclusive content that comes on it's dvd, that never stopped anyone ;)
It's unlikely, anyway. You're not signing an agreement or anything when buying a mag. Unless the demo weighs over a gig, we'll see it online the same day people get their hands on the issue of PCG.

Unless the demo weighs over a gig
I remember someone mentioning the Beta is ~1.3GB. :D Still, can't wait for the demo, even if it will be one hell of a download... ;)

Even if the demo is over a gig, there's always bit torrent.

i recieved the beta newsletter from fileplanet with a ton of new modificiations listed... man they are at work... (i am no beta tester, so why did i recieved that?)
oe thing that is crossing my mind is that, the demo has to bring the 2 sides because of the skirmish rule, where you cant play against the same army... that will be a large demo then.. with perhaps only 1 commander tree avaible, and limited units... (only the basic ones...) i would bet a 600 / 800 demo maybe...

Yeah i received that too. Not sure why tho.

That happened to you both (probably) becouse you tried to sign up for the beta, even when you are not Fileplanet Subscriber. There is a bug that let you put your email address to sign up for the beta test and so, like if you were a Subscriber but you don't get a key, just E-mails like people that are true Beta-testers.
Hope that helps to clarify.

haha, yeah. I did try that, it accepted my machine but then said i wasnt a subscriber.
Tried to subscribe but fileplanets lame system still wont accept my visa or mastercard.

Thread clean up:
Deleted posts that discussed beta.
I ask that people stay on topic... this thread is about the demo, not the beta in any way, shape, or form.
Soldier of Dest: A lot of games are headed in that direction, to show off as much of the game as possible. Considering this game is set in ww2 it would be in relic's best interest to include several missions, skirmish mode, and rumor has it the entire blur studios intro, to really show gamers that this is a game that you have to buy.
It is set in a genre that has been done well... since games were first released, so relic really has to come forward and promote this as a whole new experience.
