Hi i made theas models from mudflaps bike mod but i need help with the fx on the idle flamers as thay are a bit funny.

THAY ARE A WIP SO PLEASE REPORT ANY PROBLEMS :

Looking very good but I've spotted 1 problem already:

You removed the front mudguard, but now the front wheel is mounted to the forks THROUGH the tire. Mechanically, I don't think that would work ;)

With the mudguard back, you could always put something appropriately spiky on it.. I can imagine quite a few CSM would enjoy impaling someone on the end.

1. Can you make front wheel a little more *flatter* and with that side grim spike/scythe on it?
2. Fork: yes it needs to be (or wheel won't hold :moose: )
3. A little mugguard is needed (CSM don't want they armours to rust :p )
4. Mean looking foot and engine guard :num:

Yeaaa the model being used is MudFlaps.. Its a start but the whole bike needs to be like Stim's two screenshots - NOW THATS CHAOS and HELL on two wheels! Perfect CSM Bike. It would smoke any pansey-arse "Fairy-Davison" anyday with those looks! :omg:

Yes.. getting better.. still.. to make them more Chaos-like they'll need to have some modelling-tweaks done to them to truely look like Stim's images. However.. this is even a greater step forward you've taken so BRAVO! To see CSM bikes ingame is truely a dream... last one up are Orks down the road then we're complete.

yeah theyre better!!!
but it seems that front weapons needs some alignment(spelling?) and the spacemarine body should be changed by the chaosmarine one.......also the FXs must be changed for chaos one's ie like flamer fx, plasma glow and bolts

what about color bleeding?.....is happening in both champion and marine biker

....green i also saw a missing fx bug.....is that the one you said?.....this is adressed with the flamer fx right.....why dont you try the chaos space marine flamer fx? - you know the redish pink flames :D

no it isnt about texture grafics, is about the model using a texture allready used by an unit from another race.....in this case space marines......so when you play with both races in, the color bleed happens.....uummm is kinda hard to explain

i'll post a pic....or you can test it by yourself.....sorry i'm somewhat busy rightnow

play with spacemarines and chaos with the bikes and you'll see what i mean (space marine tacticals using chaos color schem)

well maybe i can help you with the textures.....you can always ask for help if needed

Hi there, I'm very glad that someone is doing the chaos bikes. Thanks a heap :)

As a little suggestion, to make them way more different from the SM Bikes, have you thought of giving the riders some random PSM parts? A tentacle or clawed arm instead of the chainsword,or the demon head, etc. They'd add a tasty daemon touch that'd take them far from SM, and make the more unique.

edit: obviously, those parts would be just for visuals sake, not game terms.

Hi quick update

Added a new random head.

I seem to have fixed some of the fx,

But now i have created another problem, i exchanged the sm model on the bike for the chaos one, linked every think ok, and waited it ok, But when i play it in game or in object, the head and armes seem to be on the handel bars and facing to his left, can any one shed some light on whot i have done wrong.???????

Hi Green,

Those chaos bikes are great. :jest:

Your texture problem can be solved by getting into the whm file with a hexeditor and changing the pathname for the texture. Or stick the textures from my source files into your datasrc.....chaos folder, rename them, select them in the material tab for your model, and burn them with the 3dsmax model export.

I think you can solve the strange anatomy and turning right problem by creating a new vis_*** animation for your bike. Or it may be an Object Editor problem related to the wrong ordering of motions within some of the actions. Do the animations look right in the OE? Do they start to get screwed up once you put them in a Motion or Action?

Back onto suggestion:
1. Need to reallign bolters: As red line shows are pitched too high, you need to ake something closer to green line
2. Never seen an animations, are their heads aligned to bolters (looking up and down)?
3. Still need a lil' mudguard (blue line).

It's a bone linking problem which happens on Xreffed models.

I got the same problem on the Codex Squiggoth, but I couldn't re-link the model to avoid the problem, so I hed to throw away the hopes of Xreffing & re-animate the model.

The champion IMO should have no helmet & be like the normal ones.

On the 3rd screenshot, the pink lights, which look photo-edited in are dodgy. Are they in-game FX, or are they something else?

huh? I aint so sure about the bloodthirster head for the champ
is kinda akward....i agree with zany for the head.....maybe you could add a rebreather so he looks diferent from the "foot troop" ones

well overall it look way much better!!! youre getting closer to GW chaos bikers :D great job green!

and still the FX problem with flamer? have you tryed the chaos marine flamer FX? or you just dont like it, and want to create your own? :jest:

I also see that theres some problem in the right arm anim...

That' just great! The bikes look kicking and chaosy! Nice work! And about those champs, why don't you just give 'em same bikes with twin exhaust pipes?
I think Zany's right, Champions should be just like WA's standart ones.
And on a second note, first screen clearly shows that Marine's textures are more sharp than bike's. Although it's not such imortant, can you tune 'em up?

I think that Melooo's right about the head:

Use the standard Aspiring champion head, but attach a re-breather & maybe give him a nice furry mane too, just to make him look madder.
Or some sort of daemonic mutation.

JUST A QUICK UP DATE.

Got the model in the right place now but when he moves his top part of his body dose not move, Any sugestions??

The fx is being a pain, still red glow.

Other than that there ready to up load.

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a stacking problem. Check to see if the bone to control that is 'Staled' properly, & is this thing happening when more than one animation is playing at one time?
You know what I mean right?

HI The fx prob is
1:flamer idle is still red blob
2:Plasma fx is not linked
3: flamer stil has bad fx from senter of bike

On the linking front?
whot should the markers be linked to as i have tryed most things

On the linking front?

ALL markers MUST be linked to a bone in order to actually move with that part of the model.
If your plasma gun is not a bone, then that explains why the FX marker isn't linked.

As for the Flamer FX, why can't you just steal it off the Raptor models? THey have flamers in them (used to be upgrades for DOW, but were removed in Winter assault).
There're also plasma guns there, though I'm not sure if you'll need that.

Well, Raptor flamers are pretty similar to bike ones, so it should work.

the front panel doesnt look right, its a bit squashed, and the shape isnt quite right.
also i think maybe a randomised mud guard.

If you have fx_orphan=Yes set in the plasma pulse event in OE then it wont move. you have to delete it.
If it is not the problem, link markers to the main bike bone. like zany said.

What does FX_orphan = yes actually do? I've seen it used on the Baneblade's Lascannons & the Titan cannon's weapon FX, but that doesn't tell me much.

youre right green chaos DO NOT have sidecars.....however they can have a single plasmagun, meltagun and flamers suited where the TWL bolters are, but i like more your model with double plasmas :devil: ......beside they have +1 attack for spiky bits plus a re roll on an miss........that could be translated to dow like improving their meele dmg

have put them in the corect places so all you do is un zip them in to the dow file and over wright all the existing files ::Dont forget to Back up you data file:::This is most inportant as i am not responsible if it messes up your dow.{workes with mine 1.4 vershion.

Once Again I carelessly forget about this thread, sorry.

PM a moderator to move it, don't expect anything from a public request.

Now, I think that the model's quite fine at the moment, except that I'm annoyed to see that the bolters are sticking out of the front panel. They're above it - the ammo clips are the ones that're attached to the front panel, with the bolters above of course.

If you don't like something on the model, then use the editable mesh modifier to select faces, verticies etc & move them to your desired position.

You can also use the boolean function to 'cut' shapes out of objects.

Source files will be released when i have converted the shield to look more like chaos?

If any of you would like to make a 3ds model i will put it to the test.

So the chalange is to make a chaos bike shead for me to use on the chaos bikes?
Perhaps even two so i can randomise them?

Horusheretic - that was the image I worked from, but I couldn't fully get its shape.

Greenphero - shall I post the model here?

I use 3ds Max 7 BTW, so Max format, or 3ds?

I could also make a 128 x 96 texture for the shield if you wish, though that might not be the best idea seeing as you already have your own UV maps to worry about.

well i dont know if its by the angle but in some images the plate seems to clip the mud guard.....you should check that. keep it up man you've done really good work

Not really sure about clipping it, though the mud guard is pretty close.
However, I'm not sure if it matters.

The shield should also be applied to that aspiring champion too.
However, I don't think that it needs to be made team-colourable.

I strongly think it should be teamcolored......it isnt a dificult task.....I can do it if any one can but it wont be so soon as i'm busy with lots of real life things

But the grey & gold make it look more unique.
I think that the bike shield should remain that colour to make it a more distinguishing feature of the bikes.

UPDATE:

Greenphero - It works rather well, but the marine smoke upgrade is useless. It shouldn't be there. Just take it out & have it as an automatic ability instead.

Also, when the bikers attack the enemy, why to they still say loyalist things? Replace them with the appropriate Chaos vocals please!

VERY NASTY - I think that your bikes cause colour bleed on normal Space marines. This affects me, not sure about the rest of you though. Please check this.

I've been mesing around trying to fix them. The issue is defintly with the SPBS file, I tried setting the CSM file as the EPBS file and it couldn't find that.

I'm not sure whats wrong yet, i'm gonna have to try rebuilding your SPBS file from scratch I think.

Greenphero - yeah, I don't think your bikes are causing colour bleed now that I removed some WTP files, which had no positive effect.

Carl - I got them working almost perfectly - I reconstructed the lua files using Mudflap's files as they're rather similar.

Shall I post them publically here?

If you like and greenphearo dosen't mind, (it is his mod after all).

As ATM the error seems to be that it cannot find any of the EPBS files, no matter what you refrance it to. So i suspect, (as i've allready mentioned), that somthing is screwy with the SPBS file (in relation to patch 1.51).

Greenphero - test your Bikes to see if they DO cause colour bleed in the Space marines texture. Just try it...

I think that the bolter positions are fine.

However, what really is annoying, is that you gave the chaos bikes 2 plasma guns & 2 flamers. They're only allowed one in the tabletop game, for the other weapon slot is fitted with a flashlight instead.

Please correct that!

Also, I've noticed that the Aspiring Champion has no animations when upgraded with the power fist, though that might just be down to dodgy lua coding.

also bolters need a clip they cant shoot with out 1 unless theres mini genies inside their bolters :P

and the top part of the shield needs to be straight, it shouldnt have the dip between the bolters.it should be a bit bigger aswell.

I have noticed the Sarges green selection box is smaller than the troopers is it possible to make the troopers the same size as his. He is also slightly off centre. The dual Plasma and Flamers arent exactly codex but still look OK I would be happy with them. I think the headlight bit is not needed on the model it is usually a chaos symbol.

Id like too see the animations made more smooth and co ordinated and maybe drop some of the original ones and come up with new ones to make it more unique.
All in all excellent work

Furthurmore, in curiosity about the textures used - do the models use any NON-CHAOS textures?
