I know that homeworld uses vertex colouring to make it's beautiful skyboxes, but can i find that geometry or texture anywhere on the internet or in the game model files i downloaded from someone on these forums?

In recent months, however, my gameranger has been flooded with terraria, battlefront 2 and dawn of war servers, each with many people in them
and then the void space where the Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm and occasional out of place Homeworld 2 server (gamespy is still up -_-)

My question is: Does this mean Homeworld is finally dead as an online community? Even the usual exceptionally persistent players have dropped off the face of the earth (many on my friends list, but not seen in-game for many a month)
Should we brace for the end? Or will gearbox' release on steam help pick things up?

The facts are as follows:

• Relic Entertainment was the developer of Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Homeworld and Homeworld 2 were published by Vivendi. Source code for these games was housed at Relic.
  
• Barking Dog was the developer of Homeworld:Cataclysm. Homeworld:Cataclysm was Barking Dog became Rockstar Vancouver which was later closed and merged with Rockstar Toronto. Some members of Barking Dog formed Kerberos Productions (makers of the Sword of the Stars series). Source code for HW:C was with Barking Dog.
  
• After the release of Homeworld 2, Relic Entertainment were purchased by publisher THQ in 2004, and exclusively made games for them.
  Dawn of War series, the Dawn of War 2 Series, the Outfit, The Company of Heroes series, Space Marine were all published by THQ Canada (Doing business as Relic Entertainment)
  
• The Homeworld IP remained with Sierra/Vivendi Universal until THQ purchased the rights back in July of 2006. Relic worked on a couple of pitches to re-launch Homeworld. THQ funded no development of a Homeworld game and none was released.
  
• Blackbird Interactive started operations in 2010. BBI's founders include the people behind the ship designs of Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Their first project is "Hardware:Shipbreakers".
  
• THQ folded in early 2013 and Relic (the studio) was sold to Sega without the Homeworld IP.
  
• The Homeworld IP was auctioned to Gearbox Software in April of 2013
  
• Gearbox is likely to re-release Homeworld 1 and 2 on leading digital (PC) distribution platforms
  
• A new game in the Homeworld franchise is likely!
